      Yes! Was thinking that too. Apparently HOLO is based on a real person, I think the creator, and she meets him at the end of this (the guy she kisses). So it could be really fun. No weird allergies either lolll.

    We lost a lot of the back half of Nokdu to sageuk nonsense but apart from that it is definitely worth watching. The first half and the ending in particular are a delight.

        I watched it back when it aired, but I liked it much more this time around! I think it’s probably because I’m a university student now – I relate to Bok-joo, the pressure she’s under and her low self-esteem. It was nostalgic to hear the soundtrack again, and I forget how brilliant Nam Joo-hyuk is here!

          I’ve watched it 2x, so if I watch it again, it would be the 3rd time. It’s such a refreshing show with great and lovable characters and I love that it takes place in a sports college. I also relate to Bok Joo. Especially, when she was depressed and wanted to quite. It was such a simple yet accurate portrayal of that kind of emotion and Lee Sung Kyung knocked it out of the park. And NJH is great here. Really shows his potential.

            The casting is surprising fantastic! Remember when it was announced and we were all skeptical about glamorous, willowy Lee Sung-kyung portraying the life of a weightlifter? Damn, I wouldn’t have it any other way now!

            @frabbycrabsis Haha, yes. Since it was touted as being based on someone’s life, it was just assumed it would be about that person loosely but it’s actually just set in that specific career field. She did so great.

    Tale Of Nokdu has a lot in common with the other two dramas – lovely leads, laughing in the face of tired tropes/stereotypes, and a whole lot of heart. I think you’ll like it.

      Pfffft! I commented about this before, but legit, my heart fluttered when he gave Manting a bouquet of flowers when he was roleplaying her fake lover boy! And I said no wonder Manting fell deep for that trap. So imagine what he would do for real for the woman he falls in love with. And there it is – Gu Yanzhen gave me the visual once again! He not only had flowers for the woman he loves, he also had grand baby, a music piece, candles, fireworks for her! His love is just on a grand scale alright! 💘💘

          He’s just so extra in anything he does. In the next episode, you’ll see them fight over this and I’m glad she can tell to his face what she doesn’t like, but that’s just how he is. Over the top; even his love is something no one handle. Also he’s on full display of affection now to drive any possible competitors away *cough his paranoia with Junshan and her getting together is killing him*cough. He’s let her go for the second time, but he just can’t stay away from her. But him doing all this outlandish just makes it more look like a joke to her! 😭

            Manting is really smart, in fact all women in this show are really smart but Manting was the first character I liked in this show. Shen Tingbai is such an opposite chaebol heir and I also credit that he works to keep his empire/business sustained. So humble and nice but understanding at the same time that he can’t force someone to love him back.

    Yep Shen Tingbai. No words. Episode 31 is def a favourite episode of mine. He talked about his love for her; how he’s loved her since they were kids. He also talked about having different personalities is not really a bad thing because they complement each other that way. (Which truly highlights too why Yanzhen and Xiang Xiang are meant to be). It’s just. Okay. He deserves the love. Manting, stop obsessing over Yanzhen now and love this man right before you!

AMA 23 – Shen JS said he likes XX as a friend and I love the energy (and his maroon themed outfit).
I love how XX is always serious and thinking and not always about men.

      Episode 23 is one of my favorite episodes, Gu Yanzhen wanting to become Shen Junshan for her was so hilarious, this guy knows no limits when it comes to Xie Xiang, and I love him.

      But how much did copying Junshan work out for him? LOL!

    Yep. Xiang Xiang’s least interested about boys 😂😂 Now that I think about it, we don’t even get hijinks of her getting used to having males around him! We only had that one scene where she rushed out from the bathroom when the students were going to pee, but that was it. No ogling at nekkid male students in the bathrooms or lockers!! She just somehow blended in just fine.

    Lovesick Yanzhen at the pub: LOL. I was laughing at that scene but at the same time I feel bad for him. Too raw. “When Will You Know I Love You” 💔 Also I love how he sings high praises about Manting; that she could sing all songs he wanted to hear 🤣🤣 even self-made song titles.

    Fun fact – he was drunk singing his song with Bai Lu, “Dreaming” 😉

OK Beanies _ Who has watched Arsenal Military Academy?

I am watching it now and am loving it and even though I adore Bai Lu and Xu Kai together, I need need need need need for Bai Lu and Toby Lee to be in a drama together as the OTP. Like, I guess it’s a testament to writer of the original story and the show that the leads are GREAT and that you can’t just go wrong with whichever romantic partner you choose. But it really makes my life as a viewer difficult LOL.

    RE: OTP talk – this is interesting. In one of latest azzo’s posts we were just talking about having SLS on Junshan and how beanies got over it eventually. While the writer shows two amazing boys for Xiang Xiang, in the end the writer would pick a side and will show its audience why they had made that choice.

    FYI – Toby Li is going to be in a modern drama with Bai Lu next year but he’s second lead again! 💔

      I’m sure. I’m still at the point where XX/LC doesn’t really have feelings for anyone but she does notice the two very eligible bachelors in her life. I don’t have SLS per say but I can see how the two would make a great couple and it just makes me wish the actors had their own show. At this point, I’d be on board with any ship even Man Ting x Yan Zhen. They all have wonderful chemistry.

        Hang in there for a few episodes, You’ll get some clarity and be satisfied with the ship the writer chooses. I guess one major thing that lead to SLS in this show is Junshan and Xiang having more scenes than Yanzhen and Xiang.

        Xiang Xiang definitely won’t make it easy for Yanzhen to win her, so hang tight and you’re in for roller coaster ride! 😀 The actors here are such natural playing their role. I heard that Xu Kai used to be green in acting in his early drama, but he is a natural here that I can’t imagine anyone else playing Gu Yanzhen.

        Lol, I actually am familiar with Xu Kai and Bai Lu from The Legends and really like them, but I had a hard time getting into that one and wanted to watch more of them so I tried this show out and I’m much more into AMA.

        Huehehhehe I paid it forward azzo! This drama was no where near my radar. I checked out the early episodes cuz of Gu Yanzhen, then stalled cuz there’s not much romance according to a lot of comments I read, but Gu Yanzhen’s face still kept popping up on my YouTube and Twitter when I was not looking him up! It was fate. Gu Yanzhen wanted to trap me in this crazy obsession. And it worked. Bad Gu Yanzhen!

Probably an unpopular Beanie opinion: Not hating Melting Me Softly…

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a perfect show. The first two episodes felt like a recap of a first season that doesn’t exist with the way it was cutting through scenes. There are sometimes weird tonal shifts and some emotional pockets that deserved to be sat in a little more. Story feels sparse with its lack of fish-out-of-water hijinks/emotions for the most part…and yet, I am thoroughly engaged and enjoying myself. In a way I haven’t felt for a drama in a long time. Like, I am genuinely invested. I’m sure I have the advantage of going in knowing audience reactions and adjusting my expectations but in sitting down to watch, I didn’t really expect to like anything lol. But I do! It’s def. more of an absurd situation rom-com mystery than a romantic dramedy about two people trying to adjust after missing 20 years of life, but I like the characters, the humor is not too over the top, and the relationships are believable. I like Dong Chan + Mi Ran bonding over just literally trying to stay alive. I like Ha Young’s many moral/emotional dilemmas and trying to figure out what she really wants. I’m interested in what seems to be an evil twin although I have no idea why he’s evil lol. I dunno. It’s silly and fun and pretty sweet. 🤷🏾‍♀️

I’m not finished yet, though. But I’m def. gonna see it ’til the end.
