Beanie level: Contract girlfriend

When the Phone Rings
Done ✅

For my return to Korean makjangs, this one was perfect 😊

When to Keep Your Frenemies Close, but Family Closer
‘Tis not a makjang without the unnecessarily convoluted web of lies and wtf-ery

When Things FINALLY Get Cute

Yes, at this point in time today, even with all that’s been going on— LA fires, uri poor Beanie Fan Wall, and my own oerson health issues I’ve been having for 2 weeks— I’m still watching, but boy oh boy, the reason being “to escape (the things of reality)” has never rung more true:

Uri dear OTP’s KSL convo in the elevator 🤗🥰😍😘 PROTECT THEM AT ALL COSTS OH MY CAT MY HEART ❤️ Even the voiceovers of their signing is so accurately done by CSB and YYS— hers is smooth, natural and like breathing, whilst his is choppy, awkward, and definitely like someone who’s still in the midst of learning. Kudos to them for remembering such details and nailing down these nuances 🤌🏻 It makes the watching experience more enjoyable and layered

When the Perpetrator Wants to Take Away Your Scent

…. What?? 😵‍💫

My thoughts and heart goes out to those impacted by the ongoing fires in SoCal and the ever-changing situation. I also live in a wildfire hot zone (Alberta, Canada), so I definitely knows what it feels like and deeply empathize 🫂

This drama is like the Kdrama makjang version of Couples’ Therapy 😂😂😂

When Logic Leaves the Mountains,
Girl, although you’re selectively, mute, you still are. Shouldn’t you make precautions for “just in case” situations where you may get hurt? Sa Eon needs to help her pack for their next trip, and make sure she brings a whistle

When the Girl Needs a Hairtie, Ep. 5
Girl, you’re going to KBBQ for a team dinner. Please tie your hair up *sniffs hair*

Also, I’ve finally put my finger on it:
The tone of this drama reminds me of old school Kdramas w/ ALL the tropes, but does it in a comparably more upgraded and digestible way, imo 👌🏻 Thankfully for that, else I think I’d thrown something at my screen 10x already LOL

When New Discoveries Are Made, (still) Ep. 4
I wonder if Louboutin is a sponsor of this drama or if is just a brand with the same a similar signature 🤔 I’ve seen both Hong Joo and Sa Eon wear shoes with that renown red bottom that is Loutoutin’s signature

A quick google search comes up with a mentions of the ‘Louboutin couple’ in reference to WTPR, so I’m guessing a sponsor. Overall, they incorporate PPL into the drama well on this show, it does not interfere with the story very much.

Interesting! Good to have my observations confirmed 😊
Yes, I agree! I’m 5 episodes in and don’t even feel any of the PPL impedes on the enjoyment of my viewing— I don’t even notice the PPL at all, just the shoes

When I Find Something to Appreciate, Ep. 4
Top of the episode, I had the ever slightest amnesia that uri Hee Joo has selective mutism, so I was surprised at Baek Sa Eon’s surprise that audible (crying) noises could come out of Hee Joo. Yet, I appreciate his reaction. Though subtle, I can see and feel his shock, but at the same time, there’s a hint of relief, as if Sa Eon is thinking to himself that her mute state has a cure and that he will hear her voice and hear her verbally speak to him again one day. He sympathetically tells her that she can cry, that she can continue to cry all she wants— he even gets a little playful and teases her by calling her “ugly” in her crying 😊

When the Tone Just Isn’t Making the Right Calls (pun intended 😏)
3 episodes in:
This drama can’t decide on the tone it wants to set and the genre it wants to be—the heavy and gritty scenes don’t go far enough to garner a gut-wrenching or “clutching at my heart” reaction from me and the comedic beats feel shoehorned in.
But I do give it to the main cast! 👏🏻 Chae Soo Bin is doing a splendid job as the traumatized and perpetually nervous cynic, whilst Yoo Yeon Suk is doing a great job at portraying the parallels of being the asshole-y tsundere and then tamping that intensity down when the scene calls for it and returning to the basically “lovesick husband but is too proud to admit it” ML

Don’t worry. It will make the decision on tone later on.
    And the decision is…
    .
    .
    Everything
    .
    .
Writer nim decided that the show wants to be ALL of them and at the same time. Gut wrenching, comedy, romance, action, suspense, melodrama, steamy bedroom scene, childhood flashbacks…everything all at once. Your brain will be spinning.😵‍💫

When High Society Shows Its Colours, Ep. 3
Wooooooowwwww when Sang Woo tells the people of the station that he’s an orphan, they all gape at him like he’s some otherworldly creature 😒😒🤬

When People Play Angsty Telephone Tag, Ep. 2
I wonder if Heo Nam Joon (2nd ML actor) personally knows KSL or got really good whilst learning it for the drama. He looks so confident, comfortable and makes it look so effortless—like breathing— whenever he’s signing with Hee Joo in the drama

(Let’s see if I can keep up making new nicknames for the drama as I progress 🤣🤭🤔)

My Phone Has Finally Rung, Ep. 1
YYS’s English…. What??? 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤩🤩🤯🤯 I didn’t know!! Would this have been a factor in his casting for this drama? 🤔

1
2

Well, it never seems to be a factor when they don’t know English, ( and are supposed to ) so I would say ‘No’ in answer to your question 🙂

I was just curious, since his character is one that represents the Blue House 🤔 But yea, I see where you’re coming from

My Phone Has Not Rung Yet, Ep. 1
Hee Joo’s car situation is reminding me why I refuse to have wifi/data and smart devices for everything and everywhere, especially in my home for my appliances— no wifi except for my modem for the web
