Beanie level: Errand boy

teeny tiny detail: i kinda wish Si-an had known or guessed who Ryan was, and that’s why he moved away from his band members and into those apartments. it’s a little TOO fateful for me as it is.

this is the gif i didn’t know i needed. i literally have been watching it forever now. every single person in this gif is doing something interesting. Bae Doona steals the show at first, of course; and then Cho Seung-woo is where your eyes go next. Then there’s my girl Shin Hye-sun who just wanted to finish a photoshoot on time for once, you guys. Lee Joon-hyuk is amused…and also about to get bumped by Bae Doona? Hard to say for sure, but the one and only Yoo Jae-myung is ready with the block, just in case.

So I’ve had something of A WEEK this week, but this morning my husband casually remarked (a propos of nothing), “Well, it’s Wednesday.”
What’s that? Wednesday? Wednesday, you say? Well, well, well, things are looking better already! 💕💕

I\’m not too far into it, but My Fellow Citizens is hitting all the right notes for me right now. Exactly what I needed—and I hope it stays this way!! *fingers crossed*

I don\’t know if any beanies are involved in the Viki English subtitles for HPL, but I just want to give a shoutout to that team. They are doing an amazing, incredible job at getting good subtitles up SO FAST. hats off to whoever they are.

I think PMY has a few dedicated translating fans as I’ve rarely had to wait for her drama translations.

A few thoughts on HPL 11:
1) The Ryan-removes-his-watch scene (for lack of a better term) that we previewed after episode 10 was even better than I thought. I honestly hadn\’t considered what kind of dialogue would go there, but what they did was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT to me. just the cutest thing ever.
2) I\’m really interested in Seun-joo\’s story now, too. Her logic as to why her husband did what he did was spot on, and I thought it was awesome to have her say all that point-blank.
3) I care about the Lee Sol painting mystery only because it means less Ryan/Deok-mi angst. I will put up with a lot of silly art/past story nonsense as long as we get more cute. Good trade.

about 3: I really like what they are doing with the narrative here. Instead of constructing idiotic reasons for the couple to temporarily break up as a way of creating drama, they seem to have gone the route of creating external challenges that the couple can face together, while growing stronger in the process. The fact that there has been little progress yet in terms of exploring the lee sol and hyung/donsaeng connections means that they have enough material to not need artificially engineered problems just to fill the 16 eps (or is it more?)

i agree. i worried at the end of Ep8 that they were going to pad the rest of the show with (as you said) “idiotic reasons for the couple to temporarily break up as a way of creating drama” and i’m so glad that one blip of noble idiocy/miscommunication (whatever it was) really was just a blip. this show is doing a great job of showing two adults in a relationship.

Regarding Ryans past and Lee sol painting. I do agree it is very used story line. But I guess this time I don´t mind as it give Deok mi opportunity to learn his secret as her secret gave him opportunity to get to knew her on a depper level as it strengthen their bonds 🙂

I’m in the mood for a very particular kind of drama, and I have no idea what might fit this description. Any ideas, dear beanies, are most welcome. So definitely historical (time travel is ok too) with some royal politics shenanigans. But also a strong romantic plotline. (I feel like a lot of times the romantic plotline is underdone and the court politics are overdone…I’m wishing for a more balanced plot) It doesn’t have to be a comedy, or even overly comedic, but I don’t want a sad ending. Any ideas? Kdrama, Cdrama, whatever.

Live Up To Your Name is excellent. It’s time travel but it’s got no royal politics.

    Queen In-hyun’s Man!

It was such a nice watch! Her trying to find reasons to kiss him was the best bit!!
“This is how we say goodbye and hello in future” Yeahp, that sure is! 😛

i do love this too—it’s a bit more rom-com than i’m currently wanting, but it’s such a great show. one of the all time bests.

The best couple for sure! Man, I dunno why but I have not seen Ji Hyun-Woo in another show since this one!

he was in “angry mom,” and also a 50+ episodes one called “bad thief, good thief” that i never finished (it wasn’t bad tho…i think i just got distracted) 😆

I watched him in Awl and Trot Lovers subsequently. Awl was different whereas Trot Lovers was eh..

Arang and the Magistrate? It doesn’t have royal intrigue per se, but it does have a good mystery related to local politics, and Lee Joon-ki and Shin Mina are absolutely adorable.

Or…. how about a quick Splash Splash Love (re)watch

When you said strong romantic plot line and court politics the first drama that came to mind was Seven Day Queen. It’s a little heavy but I think it’s one of the best romances I’ve ever seen. The sageuk politics get really intense but the drama never ceases to be a romance, albeit a very dramatic one. I wouldn’t say its ending is sad but…bittersweet? Most wouldn’t agree it’s a happy one haha but thought I’d put it out there

    1) The Princess’ Man has that perfect balance (if you don’t mind Park Shi Hoo)
    2) Three Musketeers for something a bit lighter
    3) Sungkyunkwan Scandal

ok so yes The Princess’s Man is definitely in line with what I want…I saw it before I knew anything about Park Shi Hoo, so I was able to enjoy it at the time…but I’m not sure I could go back now. I love SS more than I can express, too… I did NOT know there was a kdrama version of the Three Musketeers—just read up a little on that, and it sounds pretty cool! I’ll definitely check that out!! Thanks, Toki <3 <3 <3

Eternal Love 1 +2 , it’s a C-webseries with time travel, very comedic and wacky, what makes it so good is that it knows that it’s wacky lol.

has anyone watched The Flame\’s Daughter (Cdrama on Viki)? Any good?

It’s not a particularly bad or particularly good drama 😐 It’s like a typical wuxia drama but simplified a lot more— none of the super complicated and convoluted character relationships that need a character chart to explain 😅😅😅 The leads, male and female, are pretty… very pretty 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

    2
    1

I agree with @bebeswtz for the most part but I gotta admit, I was pretty done with the main lead guy by the end of it.

    2

Yea, watching it on Viki with the comments on was brutal… A lot of viewers just weren’t feeling it between Dilraba and Vic Zhou and were basically bashing him (like, actually Vic, not even his character ☹️) all throughout the drama that it was a bit much so I had to turn off the comments… It didn’t help that many of the commentators are Dilraba x Vin Zhang fans, and Vin Zhang was just the second male lead in this one

      2
      1

Oh yeah, people can get a bit crazy on Viki in those comments. But that is too bad, they were ruining the drama for you!
I’ll be honest, for some reason I’m a fan of Dilraba and Vin Zhang, but that wouldn’t be a reason for me to bask the main lead actor. I honestly just wanted to see her in another drama no matter her lead (which is why I also watched Sweet Dreams XD) but honestly I wasn’t feeling it between the two characters. I wanted her to be more with the disabled friend. I felt for his character way more than anyone else…

watching all the Her Private Life Makings/Behind the Scenes, and honestly, I’m feeling better about this show (even though it’s stuff I’ve already seen; I know. I can’t explain it 😆) ❤️ Also, the lion on his shoulder is 💯
