Beanie level: Errand boy

total rant, and I apologize in advance I am pretty annoyed (also there are sort of spoilers): OK so I am super frustrated with dramas right now. Why is everything so annoying?? My First First Love just basically stops in the middle—whaaat? Psychometric Guy takes a turn for the dark/serious/intense and does not recover well. Where was all the cute at the beginning? I wanted the fantastic four to be happy!! And then Her Private Life ep 8—what even was that?? The only trope I hate more than noble idiocy is “this could have been solved if we communicated, but we didn’t.” and this had both of those. I mean JUST TALK ABOUT IT. ask ryan if he wants out. HOW HARD IS THAT YOU ARE AN ADULT. i cant even. and literally, ryan, you can’t just ask what’s going on? you can’t see she’s upset and ask if there’s more to it? This episode really delivered on the angst and I did not come for that. ugh. annoyed. I need some straight up legit happy fluff for a few days.

    Honestly, has Doek-mi shown even a smidgen of maturity to even think to do something like that.

    On Ryan’s front though, he had the foresight to give her space. One thing that he is good at is not overstepping.

      Hm maybe I guess, to me, asking someone to clarify how they feel, asking (respectfully) if you can discuss something further isn’t really the same as overstepping (now, if she says, “no I don’t want to talk about it,” then yeah, he should back off). I know none of that would happen in a drama. But honestly, I don’t understand why TV writers keep falling back on the miscommunication-thing-as-a-plot-mover. It’s the most annoying thing ever. Angry emoji.

    I have the feeling that Korean parents don’t teach their kids anything about healthy communication, nor are they great examples of it either.

Is anyone watching My First First Love (Netflix, USA)? I can’t remember the last time I was so confused by second lead syndrome. At least, I think it’s SLS. I can’t exactly tell who the SL is! (I’m enjoying it so far. It’s a lightweight, but not bothersome. And you gotta fill the hours in between Her Private Life episodes with something, right? 😉)

    I started it this weekend and will continue for JiSoo and because, just as you say, I need something while waiting for new eps of HPL 😁 At first I thought it was an old show from JiSoo’s younger days.

      hehe thanks! yeah i started it because JiSoo, too — and Chaeyeon. there are some pretty cute moments! (I’m not that far in yet, though, so if it turns bad, I reserve the right to pretend I never mentioned it ;p).

ok Fiery Priest episode 28 may well be one of the most satisfying drama episodes I’ve ever seen. i love this show so much. SO much. (need screenshots from this ep too!!)

Beanies! I’m alive! (I mean, I guess you can call it that 😜) There are boxes and suitcases everywhere, but we are officially moved in!! Hopefully I’ll have time to get back into dramas for real soon, too! In the meantime…

Ok I binged episodes 3 through 8 of Reach of Sincerity/Touch Your Heart and—omo omo omo. I love it SO much yall. So much. This is the kind of kdrama that I first got hooked on, and watching it feels like being back in my first years of being a drama watcher, back when every show was SO good (because I hadn’t seen hardly any dramas yet, and so I just watched the very best, one after another.) I can’t watch anymore because it’s too precious, so I’m just going to rewatch 1 through 8 until the rest of the episodes have aired. No complaints here, though 😍😍😍

Got some excellent news last week—news that my family and I have been hoping to get for a while: we are moving!!!!!! To T E X A S!!! That\’s actually where my extended family is (and, I guess, in a way, where I am from; though we moved a lot and I feel like I\’ve lived in too many places to really say \”from\”); it\’s also where I went to college, so it\’s a place I like in many ways. Anyway. We\’re going in two weeks, though, so it\’s all a madhouse around here. I managed to watch ONE drama episode this week—can you imagine! Just one! Insane, right? 😉

I don’t want to work—I want to tell you about my newfound devotion to Kang Ki-young. My Secret Terius has solidified my love for this actor, and if he is in a show, I am officially here for it.
