With Alchemy of Souls, the Hong sisters have totally redeemed themselves from the crappy endings of their 2 previous dramas. What’s not to love. All the good guys survived and all the villains died.
Day 18: Non-kdrama recommendation (2022 dramas):
* Love Between Fairy and Devil (Chinese)
* Lighter & Princess (Chinese)
* Love Like the Galaxy (Chinese)
Watching the Chinese version of You Are My Destiny / (Fated to Love You). So far, this is my favorite of the 5 different versions of this drama that I’ve watched.
I’m loving it too but that secretary is annoying! I get they’re trying to make him the comic relief but nah, he’s over rude to jianxin.
And the second lead guy, I don’t know if it’s just me but I don’t like him a bit. Something about him seem fake (I didn’t like that character in the Kdrama version either)
So forgive my ted talk, What do you think about the other characters aside from the leads?
Similar to the other versions, I have developed a strong hatred for Anna. This version seems to be going down the Taiwanese version route where she was evil. I like the sister character that this version turned into the heroine’s best friend.
I’m just here waiting for subs to come out so I can binge the rest in a go.
Anna is definitely evil, I can’t remember much of her character in the Korean version.
She wasn’t as bad in the Korean version as in the original Taiwanese version as the Korean version instead opted used the male leads “fatal illness, noble idiocy” to drive the car accident and split up the couple. However, I came into the Korean drama with residual hatred for Anna from the original Taiwanese version. In that version Anna faked an Abortion Agreement supposedly from the male lead that she gave to the female lead. The car accident happened because the female lead ran from the male lead when she thought he was trying to force her to go for an abortion. It appears that the Chinese version is more closely following the Taiwanese version. Just hope this version doesn’t follow a couple of other plot points that I really hated in the Taiwanese version as I really disliked the hero for most of that drama.
Unfortunately I couldn’t wait and am now starting episode 3 (unsubbed of course) since I read translated copies all of the books in the series I kinda already know who everyone one is and the general plot. Will rewatch once the subs are out to see what I missed!
So far I’m really liking it. Yang Zi fits Tong Nian’s bubbly personality and I even like the Li Xian as Han Shang. I was a little worried when the episode count jumped to 41 (as I don’t think Stewed Squid With Honey had enough material for 41 episodes) but read when the author said that the drama would cover more that just the storylines in Stewed Squid with Honey. So I’m hoping that the storylines (and Dt and Appledog’s romance) from Gods Left Hand and Fish Playing While Trapped in a Secret Room will also be included.
Just finished Le Coup de Foudre. A great drama, with wonderful characters. Only negative was that the filter always made the drama look fuzzy. Enjoyed all 3 of the romances.
Yay!! Now that it’s finished airing and all episodes are out, I can finally watch it and enjoy it without needing to wait every week and just go at it all at once
I loved The Legends. All I can say is that a show that delivers on its main romance can be forgiven all of its flaws and The Legends certainly delivered on its main romance.
From your post, I’m going to assume that no matter what happens before we get to the ending– no matter what kind of fight/misunderstanding happens between the OTP, no matter what others try to do to break them apart– that the OTP is going to survive it all and have a happy ending and I can watch the remainder of the episodes in peace knowing this bit of info?? I need to know!!! lol I’m currently 1/3 of the way through episode 47 (of 56) and just cruising my way through and will probably finish the drama either tonight or tomorrow (my timezone)
Feel free to watch as the main romance has a happy ending. Hero/heroine remain completely devoted to each other until the end. Unfortunately, episode 54 is a complete incoherent mess but the hero survives. Version I watched only had 55 episodes.
Whew!! Okay 🙂
I can deal with finale episodes being incoherent messes (say hello to every flippin’ Kdrama finale episode ever… As for C-dramas, I’m lookin’ at you “I Will Never Let You Go” a.k.a. “Legend Of Hua Bu Qi”), just as long as the OTP is together in the end– you never know with wuxia dramas lol
Episode 56 of your version should be very similar to the episode 55 of the version I watched – both show the same happy ending
Spoilers – Spoilers – Spoilers
Final scene of the hero/heroine together shows them walking hand in hand in the market where the hero vows to follow the heroine to the ends of the earth, the final scene in the drama is extremely weird and shows the 2 grown children of the hero/heroine (played by the lead actors)
Let me know what you think when you finish the drama. Despite its many flaws I loved it for its lead couple – one of the better romance couples I’ve watched in awhile.
Just finished reading You Are Still Here by Xin Yi Wu and now I\’m impatiently waiting for Viki to sub the drama \”Never Gone\” which is based on the novel. Drama started airing Nov 6 and stars Elvis Han
After Ep 13, I\’m gonna be ticked if Moo Yeon ends up being the CP baby\’s father (but I think that\’s where the show is going) as he acts waaay too subservient to have ever fathered a child with her.
For those who like anti-heroes, the Thai drama “My Life is to Kill, My Love is for You” (“Cheewit Puer Kah Huajai Puer Tur”) has an interesting one in it’s hit man hero. I’m at Ep 5 and liking it.
Really enjoyed episode 6 of 100 Day My Prince. So do you think Hong-sim\’s brother is playing a long-game and is secretly working to destroy the King and Kim Cha-eon for killing his father?
Wonderful ending to Thirty But Seventeen where everyone got a great send off (well except Ri-an). Glad uncle turned out to be a great guy. Show is one of my favorites for 2018.
Yesterday\’s episode of 100 Days My Prince was much lighter in tone than last week\’s episodes. Yay, found my replacement for Thirty But Seventeen which ends today.
