5 minutes in and I'm again impressed by the writing as I could see why BOTH sides were hurt, Chaebol Dad and Chaebol Mom.

I'm so excited for this week episodes!

You are right about both sides being hurt. If Chaebol Mom had trusted Chaebol dad to begin with, they would not be in this mess (and Chaebol mom would probably be even richer). But, at the same time she looks to him for support not condemnation- and she has suffered a great loss.

The money lost value over the years sitting in cash for 14 years. If she had paid taxes, invested in real estate and stocks, and not touched anything for 15 years, she would have been much richer.

Exactly- she should have trusted her husband and told him right away- I can guarantee that she would be richer if she had because her husband would have known what to do with the money.

I wonder why her lawyer didn't advice her better. He seemed more like a self-restraint coach, telling her to "wait for a couple of months".

I think she never understood the situation properly because he didn't advice her well. And that's probably why she thinks everything will be alright if she finds the money again and waits for the few months she has left.

3

She may not have talked to her lawyer until very long after the money came to her- like many years later. If she had talked with a lawyer right away this would not have happened- there is not a lawyer anywhere in the world who would have told her to follow her father's instructions- and most would have explained the time value of money with a simple thought experiment- set her down with a piece of paper (take five billion and multiply it by 1.03 [to take income taxes into account] - then multiply that by 1.03, etc) . Make the client literally do the math herself. Lawyer could then point out that in her husband's hands she would likely get a higher after tax return than 3%.

1

@tabong. I am curious about this 15-year thing to begin with. SK has some seriously high inheritance tax laws which have caused problems for years. So, I don't understand how just waiting 15 years to report defeats them.

I can only think of if the lawyer was kept in the dark about something involving the money. It would be strange for a lawyer to assist the client in committing a crime.

1

I have been wondering if the lawyer was in on the crime somehow.

1

The fifteen-year thing has to be a Statute of Limitations.

2

Only 20 min in. The ML's mother, I have no sympathy for at the moment. May change as I see more of her backstory.....but a greed to the extent that you'd potentially ruin your family's future is hard to understand.

But the FL's family that is interesting. I can understand all sides. Though I do think mom or Da Rim should of called a family meeting, would it still be impossible? Maybe, but more people problem solving is better than two.

Chaebol Mom seems to be a simple person and I think she just followed what her father told her. She did wrong and she did hurt her husband, financially and emotionally, but I'm not sure she herself can see that (and all the consequences), she is now in her own bubble of her own emotional distress. And that is what I like on the writing of this show, that we also see HER hurt, she expected some support from her family in her loss and all that terrible situation (she was abducted after all).

This was a painful episode, in a sense we saw pain and hurt of some of our protagonists. There were arguments, shouting and even a slap, but unlike the previous weekenders when I was just annoyed or frustrated, here I felt sympathy for all sides of the arguments, even Divorcing Aunt. Mom is so focused on her visually impaired daughter and now so desperately searching for the funding of the miraculous cure that she is hurting everyone around her. Luckily we had Halmoni and Haraboji to lift up the mood a bit. 🙂 (I also loved how Darim was sneaking in their bedroom to sleep with them. 😊)

I don’t have much feeling for Aunt. At the end of the day her parents are her responsibility. Yet she dumped them (or rather it happened that way) on her sister in law and I don’t think she supported them in any way. Like taking them to doctors office or paying for her parents medical bills or even being a support for them. She chose a life to escape from the family’s hardships which was partly hers as well.

I understood her arguments why the money had to be returned.

But you are right. Why isn't Divorcing Aunt participating more in the care about her own parents?

(And in ep.6 I was put off by her violence against her Cheating Husband and his Mistress).

I get it that the money had to be returned. But Aunt took the money for herself, she did not return to her husband.
So, if and when she leaves that house after divorce, will she use that money and live independently as a single mother or will she come back to her birth home and expect others to share her burden and parent her child??
If she comes back and adds more burden to Iron mom I will be super mad (but I have a strong feeling she is going to expect her parents to baby sit her child).
So yeah, she hasn't earned any respect from me, not yet.

Ep.6 cleared that, Aunt did return the money (though why via this roundabout way and why via an envelope and not a wire back to have evidence is beyond my understanding).

I wonder if Aunt really just wanted to escape her former life or if it was her new family who restricted her. And if her fight for not having the custody is more about that she is aware she would never have enough money to provide her son the type of education he follows now and she wants him to have a better life than she had.
We still know very little.
(She of course can be just a selfish being. 😉)

I hope that in any case there will be a satisfying arc for her and that she will deserve Single Dad and Bom, they look precious 😍 (and Aunt's Son needs them 😊).

Interesting episode. I liked the argument between ML's mum & dad. Kim Hye-eun makes a small moment feel so heavy as she really sells Ji-yeon's hurt at her husband's coldness. Cha-rim and Mu-rim, as children traumatised by poverty, are sympathetic; Aunty, not so much, though I do understand where she's coming from. I wonder if any of them would be comfortable saying to Da-rim, what they've said to Bong-hee. They're targeting the easiest mark - an aging widow with no one on her side. In a twisted way, I'm low-key hoping smth like an affair plays out between her and ML's dad. Cheating sucks ofc, but it would be nice to see her be selfish about her own happiness for once.

I'm still uncomfortable with the way our ML talks to Da-rim, but she gives as good as she gets. I like her prickliness and resentment, and the way he becomes a space for her to vent in this episode. I hope at some point tho, she aims that resentment at her siblings. I think they need to reconnect with each other and draw strength from that - they run into the arms of their (potential) romantic partners, because they want to evade "family". Mu-rim even goes as far as refusing to spend the evening with his fiancé's family. The final scene where the grandparents and Da-rim talk about their dreams, with money falling from the sky, was a bittersweet ending.

I was worried that Kang-joo's interaction with Da-rim would make me feel uncomfortable. Mainly because he was clearly unused to interact closely with someone who has disability. But seeing their scenes together for 5 eps made me think that he handled it as well as he can, despite his general clumsiness about social interaction and his unfamiliarity with Da-rim's condition.

And, like Da-rim sarcastically said, I thought he got a point for honesty, even if the way he bluntly said it suck. There was something refreshing in the way he admitted that what he was feeling for her was pity, and probably a little bit of interest (mostly physical). He made for an interesting contrast compared to other people in Da-rim's life who tiptoed around her condition, yet talked quite harshly about it behind her. At least with Kang-joo, she can be certain that what she hear is what she get.

EPISODE 5
Wow.
This episode was sad and stressful.

I didn't know what to do or think because I could understand all the characters' POV. This is just an unfair situation, and there's no right answer. No matter what, someone will get hurt.
Tbh, at this point, even if Da Rim had the surgery I don't think she would feel too great about it given how getting the money is tearing the family apart and just seconds.

I'm glad mom gave aunt the money back and I hope she gives the money back to Mu Jin's mother in law too. And I know she's desperate, but I wish her conclusion to everythig people said to her wasn't "selfish bastards", because there's obviously more than that there. She probably can't listen to anyone right now, but if she keeps acting like this she will hurt more people than she thinks. Including Da Rim.
I wonder how things would've gone if she had taken a different approach to this situation. The way she talks is not helping her case. I wish she just asked for help instead of telling people they "have to" otherwise they're bad, and act like their situations don't matter that much.

I liked the fight between Crosswalk's parents too. I couldn't understand the mom, at all, but when her eyes lingered on her husband for a couple of seconds, I felt the disappoiment and sadness.
Something that makes me a bit sad tho, is how dad raised Crosswalk for the past 15 years, but the distance between them is so palpable. The poor boy seems like he's scared of being kicked out at any moment.

And I already had guess that mom and Crosswalk's dad know each other, but I really wanted to be on denial about a future love arc between them till the end. I really don't want it to happen. I just want the moms to be friends and uri omma to get her own man.

Anyway, I really enjoyed this episode. Watching all the characters just... be people. Aigoo. I just want them all to be happy.

Yes, that argument between Crosswalk's parents was well done. They love each other, but that's perhaps not enough. Because, this time it is really serious and not just some excessive spending behind Crosswalk Dad back, he really feels betrayed (and rightly so).

I think Mom was more talking about their duty as Unni and Oppa... and if we look at Mom's way of living, she probably does take it as something obvious, something you don't discuss (my guess is this is also Asian way). And in this extreme situation, it is breaking both siblings. This is a great set up for reconciliation between Mom and Designer Unni and I hope we get this arc. And yes, there is Oppa and his fiancée... and possible friendship with Mom-in-law... and as you I want everyone to be happy at the end!!

(Btw, I hope we will see more of Single Dad next time!)

A bit more of Bom's dad would be good but I think that this is being held in reserve- so that maybe we will actually get the kids as matchmakers between the parents once FL's aunt is actually divorced from her cheating husband. Just a hypothesis but it would be better if they do not develop to deep a relationship before that. In the meantime, I hope that cheating hubby pays through the nose in alimony. The idea that the paltry sum he gave to mom was sufficient was nonsense. It makes him far worse than just a cheating husband.

1

Yeah that look Ji-yeon gives her husband is so stirrimg, and hard to pull off for a character who could otherwise be rlly unsympathetic.

Idk I think mum is the most sympathetic one here. She's raised 3 kids (one of whom is disabled), run a business & cared for her old sickly in laws. Everyone else can leave (which is why they react so badly to her asking for money - they want out of that situation), but she's stuck. The way she's gone about it has been inappropriate, but I think asking family members to pitch in to the care of a disabled daughter is actually asking for very little. But everyone is too desperate trying to escape poverty to care.

I'm in 2 minds abt the possible affair- on one hand, the drama about seeing the life you could've lived if you'd married the "right" one is just too good. On the other hand, the mothers are such perfect contrasts that I want to see them together as friends not rival. It would be cool if Bong-hee could learn a little selfishness from someone as shameless as Ji-yeon lol.

Required fields are marked *

Yeah. I feel like the main reason why I don't dislike her character is thanks to the actress.

But the problem is that this isn't the first time she has expected others to give up on something to help her. Her kids didn't grow this resentment from yesterday. And they finally have found their own way, and she's trying to take that away from them (for an obviously valid reason tho).
That's why I say that there's no right answer here, because the situation is just plain unfair for all of them.

No one could have said this any better. You nailed it right on the head: Neither Oppa nor Unni are bad people, and it would have been shocking if they had not resented their little sister, who got all the attention while they have both had to make it one their own- and Oppa even gave up on his dream and even came up with the down payment for their home. He has done his job as Oppa. It is a situation which is truly unfair to all of them.

I am so encouraged by these first five episodes- these are the kind of stories which make up a good weekender.

The situation is unfair to everyone, but Oppa and Unni are letting resentment they should have come to terms with a long time ago eat them up inside.

0

I agree with you about not letting resentment eat you up.

0

@gysgt213 this isn't something that happened to them ten years ago, once.
This is their reality. This had been their whole life.

Cha Rim herself mentioned how she shared a room with Da Rim for 30 years. That means she moved out very recently. And now that she finally made it, mom is telling her to go back.
Same for oppa. He barely paid their home, and mom is ready to make him pay another debt for the rest of his life, when he's starting his own family now.

They're situation is insane. I would tell them to get over themselves if their situation had changed years ago or something, but it's the same. Poverty isn't something joke. And they had to grow up like this almost since day 1.
They have valid reasons to be the way they are, imo.

1

@tabong Her mother telling her to move back is not Da Rim's fault. Being pissed at mom is understandable. But, they are both taking out their anger on the wrong person. Having no empathy for their younger sister is not understandable when they have reached their 30s and should understand by now life is unfair in many ways. Like going blind and not having any chance at all to climb the ranks of the police department or become a famous designer or having little chance at getting married because you are looked down upon.

1

It's because many of their sacrifices are related to Da Rim. Like Mu Rim giving up on college or Cha Rim giving up on her mom's attention and affection.
But yeah, they shouldn't be taking it out on her. That's something they need to fix.

It's definitely not going to change soon tho. Mom is not helping with how she's pushing them right now.

1

I want Chaebol dad and mom to just end up as friends without an affair. But right now, she is just disappointed that he does not even remember her.

Eps 5 is painful to watch, exactly because I can understand every side of the arguments Darim's family made. They are all validly hurt by what other family members did to them, and in return they also hurt other family members to alleviate that feelings. It was a painful circle of hurt with no easy fix. Especially since financial condition was in play here.

At first from the previous flashback, we saw how the poverty tied them into a stronger unit, banding together to get through the difficult situation. But they are stuck in that poverty for years now, with even more urgent concern that pushed them for more money, and eventually it drained them. We saw how their relationship was strained now, and this most recent situation about "new hope" about Darim's condition could be the trigger to either turn the situation around or make everthing worsen.

I wonder how the writer will tie this up to Darim's narration in eps 1 about how "hope" has become the biggest burden in her family. This $800.000 shot for Darim's eyesight could be another dreadful "Dad passed the preliminary round test in the 1st place" situation. Though I do hope they all learnt something from the past "empty hope" to better handle this newest development.

Ep 5: Wow! This show is delivering. It’s impossible to take sides. Everyone is hurting. But I could see where mom is coming from. She is giving more attention to the child who needs her more.
Grandparents are just adorable. My heart hurt for Da Rim when she said she was living in hell. And the way she went and slept by their side at night. I want to see more of them together.

And our leads were absolutely charming in the drunk interaction scene.

Ok let’s talk about money. So we have one more avenue. I thought grandparents will go back and take some money since they left their baskets in that location. But now looks like the ML might be able to help her.

Also, kudos to beanies who guessed FL mom and ML dad as a pair!! Wow. I was surprised with all the slo mo 🙃

Yes, even though I saw Beanies talking about it, it still surprised me that mom may be the one who broke the chaebol's heart.
It seems like we have 3 avenues to the money; upstairs oppa, ML's charity money, or the stolen money.

This is reminding me that surgery aside, I want to see our FL expand her world. I'm hopeful the ML may help with this. Idk why she is living off of pocket money? Let's get her out and working somewhere. I know they need the help at the dry cleaners but our girl needs to spread her wings. She seems to have been a little bit arrested in her development.

I think the reason is that she starting losing eyesight when she was in high school. So it was a lot harder for her to adapt and learn. So may be that's why she is kinda stuck in a place where she doesn't know what her next steps are.
She probably didn't go to college either. And ended up helping mom in doing the business.
And like you said, ML can help her as he doesn't act overly kind to her and doesn not treat her like she is pitiful and is actually being himself with her. I loved their petty banter about splitting the motel charge.

Mom said Da Rim started to lose her sight when she was 20, so that means she had just graduated high school. And she did go to college since that's where she met Crosswalk. We don't know if she finished it, tho.

1
3
reply

Required fields are marked *

Oh right. Mom did say that.
So it makes even less sense why the siblings will have so much resentment. Da Rim is the youngest which means the elder siblings were grown up a bit already.
I feel they resented being poor and are now lashing out on Mom and blaming Da Rim even though it’s no fault of theirs.

1

Yeah... Now I need a better explanation of the timeline and I need to know how old they all are.

1

The resentment of the older siblings began long before Darim started to go blind. That blindness simply became the straw that broke the camel's back.

4

Yeah. I'm curious about it too.

I wonder if she had problems adapting to the progression of her condition and because of that she had to dropout of college. That would explain why she stayed at home helping with the business.

I also thought that it would be nice if her relationship with Crosswalk improves soon, given that she doesn't have any friend she can lean on. Except for her family and Secretly rich oppa she doesn't have anyone.
It would be helpful for her to have someone with whom she can be herself without feeling like a burden or like they have any responsibility towards her. Even better if it's something who can relate to her.
Just a friend.

So I kinda want this couple to go from enemies to besties to lovers.

Is it odd to say I really enjoyed episode 5? All the fighting feels so real, as all sides have a point. It was a good catharsis for me, especially the scene at the end where the grandparents and FL laughing over dreams about hard things. Life is hard often, and sometimes all you can do is laugh.

Oddly I have the same eye condition as the FL, except that I have a very slow progression and at middle age am still sighted enough to live normally. I am just very trip/bump prone. There is no miracle cure, of course; there is no cure at all. It has been interesting to see how they handle the FL, in many ways showing her as normal. Sometimes I want her to be less whiny, but she is a 20 year old, and maybe that is unfair of me. I am not sure how I will feel about her regaining her sight. Part of me wants her to find empowerment in her condition, but maybe that is just from facing the condition myself.

My first time watching a KSB drama and a drama with more than 20 episodes. Although we are not going to 50+ (and I'm grateful for that), 36 is still a lot for me.

But I watched the trailer and got interested in the story. Then I decided to give a chance and I don't regret it.

I'm liking everything so far, except for the pacing. I'm not used to it, so it feels very slow.

I love the scenes with our main couple. So far, they've been all nicely written and acted. Their chemistry together is just so good..

I know our ML is still in his phase of being harsh with some of his words, but I think it's good that he treats her like a woman, not like a child, like the rest of the people on her cycle do. Also, he's saying some things and his actions are speaking otherwise. He's interested in her. Let's see when he will find out.

EPISODE 6
1. I love this drama.

2. HARABOJI AND HALMONI LET'S GOOOOO!!!

3. I really want aunt's full story, because I need to know how and when and why this mess started.

4. DA RIM YOU NAUGHTY GAL. She tricked him, guys. LMAO Now she unlocked something on uri secretly rich oppa... Maybe that was her plan all along?

5. Crosswalk mom insulting her and laughing at him with no reservations. "I hate guys like the ML. He's literally you, btw" ROFL

6. Okay... So mom was ready to not only take their money (equally to their independence), but she was also planning on having them pay the debt for the rest of their lives?

I totally forgot about the part where, no matter what they do, it still wouldn't be enough money and they would have to borrow it from someone who wasn't family.
She seriously thinks taking their money, making them pay the debt, and having everyone resent each other for the rest of their lives while they're all imprisoned in the same house, is the way to go? Like, Da Rim's hell would change visuals, but it would be the same concept.

7. The scene with Cha-Da was my favorite!
I loved how Cha Rim panicked when Da Rin asked her if she was ashamed of having her as her sister. LOL

It's obvious that Cha Rim isn't ashamed of her family, not even one bit. She's just hurt. She wants her family to understand her, and to give her the affection and attention she deserves.
She wants them to acknowledge that struggles she went through. And she doesn't want to apologize for doing what's best for her, given that no one else would put her first and do it for her.

I'm liking more and more this character and her complexity.

8. Mu Rim's fiance rocks. She's so cute.
I want to see more of them, but especially more of Mu Rim. I can't figure him out.
He was so sweet with his grandparents, tho, he even laughed! That was strange (in a good way).

9. I love this show.

I think Mom even said it - I will first get the money somehow and then think about the rest.
I think for her, as a mom, it is very difficult to let that miraculous cure go... and let her own child go blind. She is desperate. I'm now more and more thinking that Doctor should have respected Darim's wish (Darim is adult) and NOT tell Mom.

As an oldest daughter myself, I often understand where is Charim coming from.

I loved the scene of Da Rim telling the doc about confidentiality. She was right.

And yes, mom is desperate, and it totally makes sense she doesn't want to give up, but that's why she needs to be stopped soon.

I hope halmoni and haraboji bring the money before mom does anything, like selling their home or borrowing money.

As the maknae of the family, I've seen pretty much everything that's happening here. So I understand them all (kinda), and relate to Da Rim a lot.
And that's also why I know they're gonna be alright in the end. I'm excited to see them get there!

Not a big fan of Mu Rim myself. He is way too old to still be holding onto the resentment he has toward his mother and younger sister. Treating his younger sister like crap does not make him an appealing character. Right now he comes off as extremely immature and still needs to grow up emotionally.

Again only part way through.
I understand her siblings not wanting to take on the debt of her medical bills and even the resentment they feel towards the mom.
However, I don't like how they are treating her like a burden or the physical manifestation of what they are trying to leave behind.
Has either of them actually acted like an older sibling? Just ask your little sister if she is happy at home? What her dreams are? Does she want to be a wife or mother or hold a job? I seriously wanted her to hit her oppa where it hurts for the way he seems to want her to just put a smile on her face so he doesn't have to feel guilty. Those are his misplaced feelings and not her responsibility. He could learn a lot from his fiancé like healthy boundaries and seeing his little sister as an actual person that is worth getting to know.

Finally finished episode 6 and so far, I like what I am seeing.

OK, so the robber who was on the loose apparently had an accident and died. Convenient for our plot but it does mean that our Grandparents now feel OK about retrieving the money.

Our Aunt and her husband had an ugly scene. But it is an ugly situation, so I guess it is to be expected.

ML's airhead mom did not impress me. In fact, it left me wondering what his stepfather ever saw in her.

FL's mom brilliant idea? We will all move in with Unni! That will free up half the money needed! Yikes.

Our FL telling her doctor that she did wrong in revealing the situation to her mom was absolutely spot on correct not just technically but in actually demonstrating the importance of patient confidentiality.

I think that I fell in love with our FL's future sister-in-law when she told her mom that it was Oppa's pride and integrity which is why she liked him. I strongly suspect that her mom likes him for that too. But things will get complicated when the grandparents bring home the money. Remember that our FL's Oppa, his bride and his mother-in-law- who is also his boss- are all police officers.

I admit that ep.6 was the first one when I was not entirely happy - I really didn't like the violent outburst of Divorcing Aunt and petty Chaebol Mom releasing her stress on Grill Restaurant Neighbour (Housekeeper).
Let's hope this is not some outside interference into the writing process.

I'm curious whether the passing away of the loan shark really was an accident or the trio had something to do with it and they KNOW about the money.

Future Sister IL rocked 🙂
And we got an interesting piece of information, she is a daughter of a single mom.

I did not like the Chaebol mom being mean either- and good for our neighbor for quitting. As for the violent outburst of the Aunt- it did seem a bit OTT, although she had been goaded by the cheater and his new squeeze- who in turn are offended by the fact that she is not just rolling over and accepting crumbs in the divorce. It might shock the Cheating Husband to learn that his "You bought so many designer purses" line (which we have heard twice now) would fly like a lead balloon before a judge: He and his family have money, and her spending had nothing to do with the divorce.

We have been assured that there will be a thriller aspect to this Weekender- and if the burglar's death was not suspicious then why was our FL's Oppa talking to the trio?

The guy in the middle looked so calmed. I don't know about the other two, but I'm sure he knows something, and I wouldn't be surprised if he killed the burglar.

And yes, aunt's ex seems shameless. And she keeps telling about having to deal with bad treatment at home, so I wasn't too know her full story.
Also, how is their custody situation? I'm pretty sure he wants her to take the child since he told Da Rim's mom to "take good care of him" when he gave her the money.

It is clear that her husband's family looked down on her as being unworthy of their son because of her impoverished background- and no doubt continually pointed to her spending habits to demonstrate that she must be a 'Gold Digger'. In her Cheating Husband's mind that created a very false impression that some how he had already paid the alimony and that he was perfectly reasonable in having an affair and getting the other woman pregnant.

When Grandma and Grandpa bring in the loot I hope that they pony up the money to get Aunt a good lawyer. One who will point out the emotional abuse inflicted by husband's family on FL's Aunt- with Husbands affair just being the cherry on top. (Honestly I would love to be in that lawyer's shoes- every once in a while, one sees a case that is simply flat dabbed FUN).

It sucks that Chaebol Mom's money was stolen, but I don't understand why she's so upset that her husband didn't coddle her. If she looked beyond her "woe is me" feelings for just one minute, she'd have seen that the chairman is well within his rights to be pissed because the money ~she lied about~ could put the company in trouble if discovered.

All she has done is whine and cry about the money, but it was the chairman who invented a cover story when the detectives came to investigate the theft. This week, he attended the cross-examination to align his story with Thief Driver, and forked out a precautionary donation to cover for her in the event that her tax evasion comes to light. The chairman is out there trying to protect her from facing the consequences of her actions. But what exactly has she done to protect herself or recover the money — apart from visiting the driver in prison and trying to scale over a glass partition? 🤷‍♀️

I think what bothers her is that he isn't doing any of this to protect her, really. He's doing it to protect himself and the company.

When he said that he would have reported her if they weren't married, I believed him. He's done with her.

But yeah, still she shouldn't be acting like this. I don't really get her either.

No matter what, she married him with a child that is not his. So she was trying to protect her own assets. It’s sad because he truly loves her son as his own.
She never fully trusted him and he feels betrayed because of that. She whines about him not showing love after 15 years but what about her??

I know the FL's mom's approach and way of handling things is totally wrong. But the FL's Oppa and Unni are coming across as actively taking their resentment out on their younger sister. As if it's her fault that their lives and childhood turned out the way they did and her being blind is her punishment she should suffer.

It's been hard for me to sympathize with the two. Logically, I understand their resentment. That's quite a burden to shoulder. But I don't think the show has made them sympathetic enough. It might have helped to see any love they feel for their blind sister along with their resentment. Or the show could have fleshed out how much it has cost them (beyond yelling it). A flashback or two might have helped. Luckily, it's a long game here so we have time to sympathize with their predicament.

I love every single scene with our main couple. he's one of the few people who treats her like a person, talking to her about other things beoynd her blindess, even when he's being annoying or rude. the two actors have amazing chemistry and perfect tiktak, I look forward to see them every week.

the grandparents are just too cute lol I love how he always call her noona

cant stand the two siblings. they don't give all their hard money to their little sister surgery, I can understand their point of their family just not being able to afford that debt in any way, but they could have said all of this in tons of different ways, shown at least a little bit of empathy for what his sister might be going through. she knows there's a solution but she cant afford it. that is a huge thing to deal with and they have shown no mercy at all for her. I can understand their argument with their mom, but they could have been more nice when they talked with their young sister ffs.

I don’t understand the coldness with which the siblings spoke to Da Rim. It’s ok if you can’t afford and don’t want to take up debt. I can understand that completely. But atleast help in other ways? Talk to her. Talk to colleagues and find out about anyone who will donate money. Do something. Go with her to the hospital and find out if there are options.
It really hurt.

Ep 5 and Ep 6 can’t be more contrasting in vibe and tone. Ep 5 gave us all the “both sides now” heartaches whereas Ep 6 is tears and laughters. Ep 6 also answered a lot of questions Beanies asked from Ep 5.

Grandpa and Grandma really stole the show for me in Ep 6 - so adorable and so many LOL moments. The Q&A with the cop grandson is certainly the episode’s highlight. Not sure if the money is totally safe to take. I rewinded Ep 4 and 5 but can’t find anything about how the stocky burglar died. The question remains as to anyone gets hold of his mobile phone with money location marked.

While I can totally understand Cha-rim’s frustration but her treatment of Da-rim at her office is really hard to watch. The scene of her not even buying lunch for her poor sister gave me tears, despite lunch time up is a valid reason but you can surely get her something.

I am in love of Da-rim’s character. She is daring and “seeing” things clearly, not afraid to tackle things head on and say what she thinks. Her talking to the two siblings in Ep 6 is understated on the surface with so much raw emotion beneath.

I also like how the ML falls deeper for the FL as we move along. The fact that they apparently met at a writing club and Cha-rim got her crush due to loving his writing is beyond cute. This may just be our very first writing couple.

I wish they could show us more scenes about the police couple and the future MIL. The mother and daughter are indeed two awesome women. It’s a lovely family in the making only if Mu-rim could loosen himself. He may be too stoic but I can’t fault him as a son and brother.

As the poor behavior of ML’s mom stacks up (including not offering a helping penny when the husband’s company was in financial trouble), I’m keenly awaiting next week’s episodes when mom seeks to meet ML’s dad (presumably asking donation for Da-rim’s surgery).

Ep 6: Da Rim is so well written. I loved her conversation with the siblings. She was making peace but yet she was sharp throwing back their words at them.

I hated Cha Rim. She was unnecessarily cruel with her words. She makes it all about her. Really?? Sharing a room made your life so miserable that you can’t see your blind sisters suffering even once. I think she was guilty and had to tip toe around her sister so she doesn’t feel bad about being blind. I kinda get her still don’t like her.

Is SOBO oppa with a hot bod getting into a love triangle. Actually (I can’t believe I am saying it) I want him to slightly fall for Da Rim just to piss off Cha rim. lol. I am petty like that.

The plot twist with the gangster was hilarious.

How adorable are grand parents. So cute. I love their conversations and the way they made sure that their family won’t get into trouble before doing something dangerous made me love them more.

OTTOKE !! Kim Jung Hyun is so freaking adorable!! His face. His happy proud face. Loving the leads interaction so much.

I am hoping that Stock-and-Building Oppa and Da Rim do have a few "feelings" that complicate things for the sister. I loved the way Da Rim tricked him into letting her bathe him and I would happily watch 20 minutes of that in every episode. Also, I really appreciate how complex all of the characters and all of the relationships are. I also hope grandma and grandpa quickly find that money. I am anxious we are running out of time for Da Rim's surgery!

I keep thinking about how the ML said it was pity but he still thought she was living a full life. That she was writing and had a bf or even a string of lovers she goes dutch with, lol.
So different than the siblings who expect her to stay home happy living off of pocket money???? Also, maybe a good bday present would be to have chipped in and get her a nice laptop she could dictate her writing into.

Maybe all of them need to confront how much dad's actions hurt them.

Though it was actually a relief that Da Rim stopped mom. This might be one of the first kdramas where the children or whomever is not left with all this debt. I can remember when I first started watching kdramas I was surprised how often children or spouses of children must take on someone else's debt.
