Beanie level: Errand boy

Love Next Door is finally settling into the right pace. Ep 5 and especially Ep 6 have so much heart. No wonder they have some best veterans because of the parents’ back story.

And the earlier title of Mom’s Friend’s Son has set wrong expectation of a cute-meet romance when in fact it’s love in the neighbourhood about friends to lovers type story.

MSM Ep 14 – A fist pump moment when SJH said “Long before you met me Ms Kang Ye-na, Eun Na has been the only one girl in my mind”!

I hope all ML can say this to kill off any stupid love triangle.

thats what i love about him the most.. even though is not good with romantic words or confessions but in heart he knows who he wants and how deeply he loves her.
just that her one kiss can make him faint but he can shut everyone else off trying to manipulate him…

Queen of Tears Ep 10 – any dry eyes after the epilogue?

Glad to have marathoned all ten episodes over the last 24 hours.

14

Yes, you either cry for Hae In or Hyun Woo or for both of them. Once the tears for them dry up, Soo Cheol or Hyun Woo’s mom bring it up again. They should stop cutting onions.

    9
    2

😂😂😂 Thank you! I really needed that laugh!! *We* the audience have become Queen of Tears. Now I will laugh whenever I see onions.🧅

      4
      1

Oh, I didn’t understand the drama title as Hae In is not a crying baby ….. but we all become Queen Of 😭

        1
        2

The title is totally aimed at us. Also Hyun-woo is the one crying and Hae-in promised not to let him shed tears during their marriage.

Also you’re brave to binge all ten episodes in one go!!

Soo Cheol using his one chance to share the baby info and the clip that went with it was beyond sweet and so sad at the same time.

Wow 🫘Beansprout award🌱 for binge watching the drama with the longest episodes in a long time☺️ Did you sleep or pull an all nighter?

Epilogue was beyond sweet and the actual end of 10 was very satisfying.

Thanks for the award @Mother Bean! I didn’t plan for the marathon but couldn’t stop. Maybe 3 hours of sleep in between. Will now rewatch Ep 10.

My tag is @reply1988 a beanie called godmother has the mother tag they may not be active or a lurker as they have no comments so probably won’t see your tag.

We all have a drama that steals our time, sleep and interest at times. This is a great one to be on that list.

Instead of waiting a day for WI Ep 8…. I searched raw clips at YT.

For those don’t mind spoiler, here you go the moment we’ve been waiting for: https://youtu.be/JISFUjByqgI?si=5_jtgDmL3OmQBTSu

Wedding Impossible Ep 7 – totally agreed with others why we fall for WI. It’s that long lost romance feel found in older dramas – the undercurrent, the about-to-burst emotion, the feel. So, so good!

7

Wedding Impossible Ep 6 – the scene of family introduction dinner is even much better on my 2nd, 3rd and 4th viewings. Clocking in about 5 minutes, everyone’s character is on full display showing in particular the true colour of Ah-jeong’s family.

Love the inclusion of AJ and DH’s scenario thrashing which didn’t help stop the battle of wits between the two brothers in law. We rarely see a chaebol family member get the just dessert like this – a thoroughly LOL funny dialogue. Then mom’s line of ‘we parents are the ones lacking but NOT my daughter’ made me tear up. Yet, the biggest punch is from Ji-Han. It made me cry as he spoke (which I didn’t in the first watch) and how that impacts AJ as the camera lingers on her uncertain face for a few seconds.

Such a well constructed scene packing so many punches!!

I agree that it was a great scene and achieved so much in terms of characterization in less than 10 minutes. I continue to be impressed with how well this show does moments like these and I absolutely love the FL’s family! They all have her back but also have distinct personalities of their own outside of being related to her.

I wish the writers of this show could have given a tutorial to the writers of “Impossible Heir.”

Ahjung’s family is incredibly warm and loveable (and special 🙂). Brother-in-law lecturing the future brother-in-law made me giggle.

Arghhhhh, I have the biggest dilemma tonight!

Watching Ep 2 of Wedding Impossible or My Name is Loh Kiwan which Netflix just dropped to my screen….. The agony.

It should be fine as tomorrow you can watch the one that was put on hold, so either way you already know tomorrow’s watch is sorted.

When you have the opportunity to watch ‘Loh’, could you please share your thoughts on it?
I only have time for one show. 😢

      @kiara, it’s 2 hr 13 min well spent.

It wasn’t what I expected although I purposefully didn’t check out much what it’s about. Surely a story of illegal immigrants with all the usual trimmings but ultimately it is …. a love story.

Song Joong-ki is in fine form (and I suspect he lost a fair bit weight) to play Loh Kiwan – very happy to see his portrayal here after the lackluster Reborn Rich. And how wonderful Choi Sung-eun is selected to play opposite him and she certainly doesn’t disappoint with her nuanced acting so well displayed already in Beyond Evil.

I’m surprised that for a Netflix movie this is a directorial debut by Kim Hee-jin who also wrote the script. I like her style – traditional storytelling without sensationalizing its subject matter. Apparently she was signed on to write the story but then got asked to direct it as well.

      Highly recommended.

I might be the only person in DB that loves LTNS but struggles with Dr Slump….

5
6

🙋🏼‍♀️ No, you’re not! I haven’t made it through Slump ep. 2. I feel like I’ve already seen the whole show before, whereas LTNS is quite a novelty.

    6
    2

I wouldn’t say I “love” LTNS, but it’s far more interesting than the same-old, same-old. I still can’t see what the actual action is going to be in Dr. Slump. I don’t need a serial killer, but there does need to be some change over time. I keep thinking of Would You Like a Cup of Coffee in this vein…that’s a show that could have been about “nothing,” but was actually about a great deal, slowly–Slump doesn’t seem to be on its way to that.

      4
      1

LTNS makes me feel like I won’t know whether I love it or hate it until it’s over, but either way it has my full attention and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching it so far. Slump is clearly still on the downswing of all the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad things the leads (and we) must agonizingly, tiresomely endure 🙄 before the actual story starts. I hit pause when they started a drinking contest and will have to FF that if I’m going to make it any further. Also, “drunk friend blurting bullshit in front of a crowd” is rapidly becoming one of my least favorite set pieces.

I dropped Coffee around episode 3. Apparently my gnat-like attention span is further shortened by caffeine.

        5
        1

Would You Like A Cup of Coffee sounds right up my alley; the only problem is I couldn’t relate to it since its theme surrounds coffee making. If it was hot chocolate they were making, that might be a very different experience. I tried it twice already. Lasted maximum of 2 eps.

          2

Perhaps ‘love’ is too strong a word as I have only watched Ep 1-2 – but it holds my attention from the get go – and I enjoy it so much. Esom and AJH are great as they have always been. I respect the two for picking these two ‘non-traditional’ characters. In Ep 1, after what they went through with the hypocrite and self-serving friend, I’m all in for their cheater scheme. I like how the drama not really adopting a judgemental tone on those cheaters but showing their different shades of grey. The drama does have its heart department done right. It gives me smile when AJH’s character can take his family to eat at the prosecutor restaurant and treat his father to that wine he tried 30 years ago. Looking forward to tomorrow when I have time to watch Ep 3 and 4.

Yes, Yoon Park is the bright spot in Dr Slump, and I thought he would be a lead again but…

I can’t comment on LTNS, but I definitely struggle with Slumpie…. or more precisely, I was not much impressed, many things rubbed me the wrong way and I’m continuing mainly for Yoon Park.

I’m still so shocked now that many hours had passed since hearing LSK’s passing.

What an irony that he wasn’t bestowed the kindness which is the theme of My Ajusshi. (To be continued.)

19
1

He could have gone through his mid life crisis and did a stupid thing or two – but a death penalty?! And what about his wife (whom I adore as an excellent and versatile actress much like her hubby) and the two sons who attended their father’s movie premiere in Cannes back in September. The timeline would mean the blackmail had already happened and the wife’s nervousness in the cinema was palpable (although I thought the limelight and attention was far too much when seeing those YT clips).

I was fortunate to have met LSK in the flesh about 4 or 5 years ago during a trip to Korea on the busy street of Myeongdong full of shopping crowd and tourists. He was walking with a friend (some variety show host whose name escaped me) with the friend’s baby in a pram. I asked if I could take a photo with him and he declined in a most apologetic manner – as if he was pleading me to forgive him for not obliging. I totally understood his wish for not wanting to draw any attention from the crowd. (I have to admit my bad for disrupting his privacy.). This encounter did confirm my perception of him as a genuine nice guy.

Now that his life is cut short in the most tragic circumstances, I hope the Korean society will show some decency to the surviving family.

Rest in peace, My Ajusshi.

It hurts so much to read this news ….

And the scene of Park Eun-bin eating ramen is daeksang-worthy. Off to watch Ep 4 now.

The Kidnapping Day Ep 12 – a very satisfying ending! Have your tissue box ready.

Love the cameos of Kang Ha-Neul and Kim Young-min – but we can do without that epilogue.

That epilogue was terrifying! 😭 But I sure hope it makes Dr. Mo realize that what she thinks she wants from Dr. Choi’s research might not be what she wants for her child after all, yikes…
