Premiere Watch: Red Swan
by missvictrix
Time slot: Wednesdays
Broadcaster: Disney+
Genre: Action, melo, drama
Episode count: 10
Reasons to watch: We’ve all been burned by high expectations of a Disney+ production… but we’ve also been treated to some real gems, and that is where I am hoping we’ll fall with Red Swan. Amongst the recent surge of sweet rom-coms, it’s time for a more melo take on romance, what with Kim Haneul as the trophy wife married into a chaebol family, and Rain as the bodyguard who’ll protect her at all costs. (Full disclosure: I’m a sucker for the bodyguard setup and I always will be.) With ~all the drama~ promised — scheming chairwomen, cheating husbands, near-death explosions, probably some poison too — I’m hoping for a charged and wild ride that isn’t afraid to be fun.
TL;DR: Did someone say action melo with a bodyguard romance?

I'm on the fence about this one, but - Hulu now shows the first two episodes will stream Wednesday for viewers in the US.

Having been burnt by The Impossible Heir, I am a bit hesitant to watch this. But Rain looks to good for me to pass the drama.

I've never seen Rain acting (or at least never realised I saw him acting).
So I might give this a shot.

Literally the only reason I'm going to hit play on this one is because I'm also a sucker for the bodyguard trope. Other than that, I will going in with no expectations.

For whatever reason, I haven't watched Rain in a drama in what seems like forever. So, Rain, action, and chaebol antics! This show may actually turn out to be a little fun!

The last drama I saw of Rain was 'Full house' lol..
I like the bodyguard set up, it can yield some nice tension and chemistry ( I loved this set up in Blood Free). But after Nothing Uncovered, Kim Haneul kinda makes me not want to watch this. I will wait for beanie feedback before I decide to start.

The 2 episodes are enjoyable , Rain as bodyguard , and i believe lover hits it of with the ice princess.
Cheating coulnd´t be missed as always, falling into Rain his strong arms.
And peculliar mother in law, i´m not a fan of Kim Ha Neul, rather Lee Bo young, but we shall see were the ice princes and Rain love story is going , she did want to sleep with hem.
So maybe fireworks in ep 3 &4

How can a show want so desperately to look expensive but feel so cheap? Details so wrong and out of place, I'd be drunk in ten minutes if I took a shot each time I caught a flub 😜
Like, the guy at UN who comes to meet her at the lobby says he's the Secretary General! And the bigshot's nameplate inside says Executive Director. Lol, not all Secretaries are PAs.
Wrongly worded banners.
The Arab prince is called Mister, and she hugs him?! Never would that happen!
They're introduced at the gala as "Ms. Oh and her husband". He's the chaebol, I thought, and even though it's her party, he should still be named, at least.
And OMG... The best one... When she meets her saviour/bodyguard at the beginning of ep 2 and turns away, the back of her gown is a mess!!!! Pinned up, zipper broken, gathered funnily, disastrous... I actually paused and zoomed in disbelief 🫢 And magically, in the next scene at the party, the dress is back to perfect. Ya I zoomed again. Please go look for yourself, it's hysterical!
This is one of the few times I'm watching a Kdrama of this type. They normally have such high production quality, even in a bad show, that this has sort of thrown me. The other one that was sort of like this was Perfect Marriage Revenge. I know it got raves, but all I could see was the wannabe-chaebol-ness.
But because I'm a sucker for bodyguard tropes, and hot boss, and quite decent chemistry, having read a few taboo Mills and Boon in my youth, I will be glued to this show with all it's tacky glory.
Me superficial like that.
