Cast lineup finalized for healing drama If You Tell Me Your Wish

Sung Dong-il, Sooyoung, Ji Chang-wook

After seeing this lineup, I’m doubly excited for upcoming drama If You Tell Me Your Wish. Sung Dong-il (Sisyphus) and Sooyoung (Run On, So I Married an Anti-fan) join Ji Chang-wook (Lovestruck in the City) in this healing human drama. It’s based on a true story about a Dutch organization that grants the last wishes of terminal cancer patients.

Ji Chang-wook plays the part of Yoon Kyeo-re, an orphan who has bounced around from juvie to jail, losing all his hopes, dreams, and will to live. After an incident, he’s sentenced to mandatory volunteering at a hospice facility. He meets patients who are on the verge of passing, and slowly, their interactions begin his own healing process.

Similarly, Sung Dong-il plays Kang Tae-shik, the director of volunteer services at the hospice who came there after losing his meaning in life. Sooyoung plays Seo Yeon-joo, a nurse who gives hope to terminal patients who are nearing their last moments.

Directed by Kim Yong-wan (The Cursed) and written by Jo Ryung-soo (Golden Slumber), If You Tell Me Your Wish will be produced by Climax Studios (D.P.) and will air on A&E Korea, a channel that’s jointly funded by global media giants, Disney and Hearst. There are also plans in the works to expand If You Tell Me Your Wish to adaptations in other countries, if it proves popular in Korea.

Sooyoung is a terrifically bland actress (all of the SNSD girls are). Ji Chang Wook seems to be going down in his quality of female leads.

Sooyoung is a good actress and I'm sure she will be fantastic in her role. Wookie had amazing female leads to work throughout his career. He respects and value those partnerships and so does his fandom.

It is both amusing and bemusing to see a group of posters suddenly handwringing over the quality of JCW's fandom. I am not a JCW fan and I don't see anything in my original comment that points to me being his fan. @halofan68 made a huge leap in assumption and was quick to get sensitive and defensive.

I do think JCW is the full package and hasn't been able to materialize his full potential, and I stand by my initial comment that Sooyoung is a bland actress and a step down on the acting front from his previous FLs.

I had to read your oc a few times because I was confused where halofan68 saw you implying anything.

Personally, I like Sooyoung. Of the three dramas I've seen her in she's gotten better each time. I think JCW needs to find an agency that will help him pick better dramas.

I want good things for JCW so I hope this is good. I utterly adore SDI and I like Soo Young, so I'm hoping this is good. The premise sounds lovely, like Make A Wish for adults.

Myself, the first thing came to mind was Chocolate. If this is half as good, I will consider it worth my time, especially with Sooyoung in it, for whom I have a spot spot because I loved My Spring Days (cue pain in chest)

I think WISH can be terrific. (I already have availability angst.)
The format (not the storyline) reminds me of Netflix’s MOVE TO HEAVEN and D.P. Story of the week.
I like the three leads and I like the ‘three lead’ format. It did wonders for WATCHER but I digress again.
JCW will do well with an ensemble. I can see a father/son relationship develop between SDI and JCW. Soo young’s character I would think would be closer to her social worker character in MTH rather than her Executive Dan-ah in RUN ON.
O/T. Both RUN ON and MTH are 2 of my favorite dramas of 2021.

Both RO and MTH are 2 of my faves of the year as well, and I'm a also a fan of dramas that lean more ensemble. I'm genuinely looking forward to this one and keeping all fingers and toes crossed that it's good!

I am so excited for this. I would watch even if I didn't know any of the cast members, since I love healing dramas, although usually they make me cry buckets

First up for JCW should be Netflix’s THE SOUND OF MAGIC. The FL is Choi Sung-eun who was so good earlier this year as Jae-yi in BEYOND EVIL.
I am looking forward to THE SOUND OF MAGIC.

Hongki was in a movie with the same basic premise: male lead troublemaker who is made to do community service at a hospice as punishment. It was called Passionate Goodbye, sometimes Rockin on Heaven's Door, with Baek Jinhee and Ma Dongsuk! The drama's story will be different, but I highly recommend this movie.
