To all American Beanies, we have a major announcement, this Tuesday (Nov. 5), there will be an Election Day because if you going to vote blue (with Kamala Harris), then you are about to stop former president Trump from returning as the second term American presidency since Trump had a lot of troubles, lawsuits and even a lot of misinformation/fake news regarding himself, his other involved people or his own opponents. So, American Beanies, vote wisely.

One thing I can say as truth, Americans no longer take democracy for granted and forget to vote. Democracy is not a spectator sport, and it's not perfect. But it's better than many alternatives.
Me, I'm ready for this stress test to be over.

No, Americans still very much take democracy for granted. It never ceases to not baffle and sadden me how we got to this. It's amazing in the saddest way possible; to live in the 21st century and humanity's common sense is devoluting.

From many places in America, this is an inescapable view. My location, over 70% voter participation in 2020 general election. Personally, I agree that it baffles why it isn't 95% voter participation. How hard is it to cast a vote, especially anonymously? My hope is voter participation will top 80% in this general election.
That's not everything; but it's heading in the right direction.
However, I take your "devoluting" comment seriously and no denying that's valid. S'why I am not, no ever will be, on social media.

Korea JoongAng Daily reported that k-drama fans are spending more of their time expressing themselves on-line. Google and market researcher SmithGeiger jointly surveyed 732 Korean online fans aged 14 to 44 in May and found that 90 percent consumed content related to their interests at least once a week on YouTube.
Among young Korean fans aged 14 to 24, half identified as "casual fans" who solely consume fan content, while the other half strive to create something from their fan activities. Eight percent identified as “professional fans,” creating their own content about their interests and profiting from it. A total of 68 percent of young Korean respondents in the YouTube survey identified themselves as “video content creators.” The influence of professional fans is accordingly growing. YouTuber CharlesEnter, with 343,000 subscribers, is well-known for reviewing Korean shows. Comments under his reaction video for the last episode of season three of “Transit Love (Exchange)” indicated that viewers watched the dating reality show primarily to see his review.
The study also found that 53 percent of young Korean fans enjoy discussing and analyzing their passions. Fifty-seven percent stated they sometimes feel more connected to other fans who share their interests than to the things they are fans of. It confirms the greater interest in community, like the one here at DB.

I check his Instagram to see what he is up to since he is one of those actors I like to watch. As best as I can understand, he is filming in a Vietnamese production, not as a lead, but as a Korean character in flashback. It will probably be hard to access once done. Not quite the sageuk you are wishing for---but who knows, there is still time (I think)! It certainly has been a while now.

Every now and then I rant about how horribly Jung Il-woo was dressed as Ba-woo in BOSSAM (2021) but I can’t pick which is my favorite JIW performance: his Ba-woo or his Prince Yeoning (later King Yeongjo after the drama) in HAECHI (2019) his first post military drama. He was terrific in both dramas.

Yes, that was quite an outfit in Bossam!!! So, I'm happy to read your rants. I preferred Haechi as a drama over Bossam. I find him to be an intelligent actor, and that comes across in Haechi--and very few actors can carry all those regal costumes so well. The costumes were beautiful (and he was beautiful in the costumes), so Haechi gets my vote.

That’s the thing. They had JIW looking like a babushka in BOSSAM.
On a final BOSSAM note. On the other hand whoever was responsible for Shin Hyun-soo’s wardrobe should have received a special award. All 6’2”of him looked great in hanbok. (Down in my fanwall I have a couple of SHS’s pics from BOSSAM.

JIW is an intelligent actor. His choice of roles and execution make it apparent. It's regrettable he's currently pretty underrated and not that active in K-drama scene.
Talking about his sagueks, more beanies should watch his Iljimae. It's a beautiful drama. I love Bossam too for the same reason - it's so beautiful and evocative. The story and each scene in it.
I ♥️ bad dramas
November 2, 2024 at 5:47 PM
I will always disagree with your statement about JIW's look in Bossam😄 I love his rough and tough look and character. It was so sexy! I was so disappointed when he got into his noble robes.
Haechi was a really good drama and he was great in it. I wish JIW acts in dramas more often. He chooses his roles well and does justice to them. Barring a couple of productions, he's got great filmography.

I am doing an update for those beanies who notice when regulars disappear to avoid anyone thinking I have lost my love of K dramaland generally and Beanie land specifically. I will be travelling and then writing assignments so will be AWOL or contributing minimally for a few weeks to avoid spoilers. Hopefully, I will be back in time to contribute to the acknowledgement of this year’s dramas aka the bean count and bean awards.
I will also apologise in advance for late acknowledgement of those beanies who will graduating from Errand Boys to Rooftop dwellers while I am away.💪🏾Hwaiting you have got this.
Have fun beanies and take care of yourselves. I am looking forward to catching up and sharing thoughts on the next batch of dramas.

Devereaux is always worth reading, and that post hits it out of the park. Here's the part that caught my attention:
"Instead, Hitler gained power not because a majority of Germans agreed with his aims, but because key leaders, most notably Franz von Papen, thought they could use Hitler to achieve their aims, that they could sand off all of the nasty rhetoric and instead employ Hitler as a cudgel (against the socialists)."
It's so easy it's not even funny to sub the names of people and parties with the current menace and his enablers.

Happy Friday, Halloween and TSOPG premiere, Beanies! Warning right away – this is gonna be a LONG entry. And pls be careful not to slip and fall due to me drooling all over the floor here because... well, you'll know soon. I couldn't help it - LYN was extra RUDE this time.
First of all, we have
23 new OSTs! Starting with mellow ending theme ballad “This road” for Tencent's family drama OUR DAYS. Gentle and sentimental, tho not very memorable music-wise, but his voice elevates anything. High notes! Shortened MV:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqp_GiGclP0
Full audio – if someone subs it, I'll share later:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDH9_YbXMYA
Another for iQiyi's ongoing FANGS OF FORTUNE with a complicated title – translator chose “Unintentional big dream”, but other, more direct translations are “No heart to bear a big dream” or “Heartlessness births a big dream”. I already raved about it a bit, but that was not enough – what a blazing fire of a song! When Ning-ge first mentioned his “nearly all rap” OST, I was like “fine, it's good to be experimental”, but as usual, he exceeded my expectations. This is drama's main battle theme, which led to... polarizing impressions among viewers because show is a huge tonal mess/sensory overload, and not always in a good way. But that's not the song's fault, right? I'm very into fusion of modern genres with traditional instruments (drums and suona for sure and some kind of strings – pipa? doesn't seem like guzheng/guqin). And the lyrics! That “I was born with talent, but gossip burns me” line, damn! No MV yet, hence subbed audio only:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtDffmT2aVM
Upd.: say hi to his most viral OST of 2024 - this track is all over c-web now, used in countless fanvids within just a few days since release (ADWAD ones fit so well!) and “Wu! Xin! Sheng! Da! Meng!” hook becoming a meme. Btw, it's his 5th OST with “dream” in title^^
Aaand long awaited ending theme (“departure” song as per official sources, which is not very hopeful HE-wise, ouch) of Youku's THE STORY OF PEARL GIRL, titled “Only wish”. I had a hunch it's going to be a sad love ballad, not unlike his TLB one. This is sadder though – them lyrics... Wtf, dude, we're just 1 day in and you're already talking about afterlife?!
Btw, screw you, Youku, for messing up with ending credits, that was not cool!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWI2nwbRFng

But the real malice happened on Sunday, at 2024 Honor of Kings Co-creation Night, where he and Shan Yichun performed 2 songs together – cover of Mao Amin's “Mutual longing” and their OST for said game “To be continued” (mermaid song, remember?). Since it was mobile game anniversary, I expected style creativity, but xianxia silver wig certainly was not in my bingo card! And that's before I saw the full look in all its anime, sorry, donghua protagonist glory... I better not comment what I think about it in detail, site's filter isn't old enough to hear that^^ Little birdie told me he got a new hair stylist recently, and I so approve the change! Music-wise I adore these two together, they sound gorgeous – and blinding visuals, esp this time, don't hurt either. Someone pls hold me back from strangling the cameraman tho, guy clearly didn't get the basic memo of focusing on performers...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Je6fgleLhA
Solo fancam of “Mutual longing” - heavens, he looks so much like those mysterious yet dreamy manga MLs! I notably said before that he's too manly to play immortal/deity in xianxia and should stick to sexy demons if he ever ventures into the genre... I'm taking that back, deeply ashamed. This look right here would be a blessing to any drama!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DSg_YJ0QJs
And “To be continued”:

MELODY JOURNEY has come to an end, to my eternal sadness, but I still hope for renewal. Did you know that the show was in works for 4 years and Yuning was attached to it all this time? Talk about perseverance! Ending's open air festival opening stage was Yuning joining Huang Zihongfan (Lars Huang) for a remix of “Everytime I” the latter sang back in Ep4. Can we talk about our boy's chemistry skills? No, not as an actor, that's a topic for another day, but as a singer. I heard him with so many people and yet can hardly recall a performance where end result was less than decent. Like – just how adaptable he is? This stage is another example of it: HZHF has a beautiful strong voice, but it's very clear and high while Yuning's is low and rich, so when they sing together it's as if Yuning's vocals wrap around HZHF's, giving foundation and texture to his soaring high notes. Like a growing tree – one is roots and bark while another is branches and leaves reaching to the sun. Can you tell I'm in love with this version?))) Anyway, back to the main theme – Yuning's flexibility as a singer is INSANE. Idk how he does it over and over with pretty much anyone, but that's a fact.

Solo fancam – someone has to explain Gotham Joker fashion here, I'm all ears:

If you still didn't cry today, I'm about to fix that^^ The story of next track, “Hardworking people”, coming to life is super heart-tugging: composer Li Bofan was about to give up music, but got invited to the show where wrote it as his swan song, with Yuning as his dream singer pick in mind (man is a HUGE fanboy). Only, to his utter disappointment and further heartbreak, Yuning, while loving the demo, didn't take it initially because he was already hella overworked at that point, and no one else picked the track either. That could've been a sad ending here, but Yuning felt so regretful and guilty (even blamed his insomnia on it!) that he decided to reach out to composer Li and perform it in the grand finale. Which absolutely broke the poor guy, he sobbed his heart out during the whole thing. Heck, even Ning-ge got misty-eyed! Then again, he's not the most stoic dude either... Anyway, watch the full episode, it's so wholesome!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pqKDAN7Pgs
Solo fancam:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0bQqA5pMyY
Full translated lyrics (and more cryfest stuff in the thread) – composer Li didn't lie when he said that Yuning is the poster boy for its meaning:
https://x.com/Just_Lice0304/status/1850705277261320437
Already familiar to yall duo “Want to write a song for you” with Lil Ghost was the closing stage of the program, but this time all songwriters joined in, so cute! Perfect ending for amazing show. Not to mention I 200% approve of Yuning dropping the jacket for it – the wind and thin silk shirt combo did wonders^^

This is a wonderful Friday post, Gikata.
Earlier this week, I noticed a longer YouTube video from last week's Melody Journey concert that chronicles the story of the composer and LYN. (Sorry, but Dramabeans interprets the YouTube link as spam. Maybe somebody else can post?). And I realized, this is what Gikata has been talking about all along! The show concept is songwriters inviting/choosing singers to match up with their songs?
The last few weeks you've showcased LYN on a hot streak with some great songs (Sky Blue, red jacket song etc.). But this LiBoFan song, in an astonishing open air performance, takes the cake. The lovely human drama of this moment! LYN is obviously affected by the humble composer's reaction to LYN performing the song, and LYN behaves beautifully in the moment. This, to me, is LYN, a man in full -- and it's only going to get better from here.
Melody Journey: what great stagecraft, what a great band/orchestra, what a great music director.
Thank you, Gikata, for chronicling this story for all of us to see.

Also, those lucky producers at Pearl Girl should be kissing the feet of the Melody Journey producers. What great cross marketing, with LYN giving the assist, a great way to keep their story top of mind.

@cliosservant1846 sadly, that happens way too often with links, esp on weekends. I'll try to post one with the entire episode subbed tomorrow, it was really good!
Btw, TV channel MELODY JOURNEY was airing on just bought rights for both TSOPG and ADWAD broadcast too. And, ofc, Yuning's already invited for their New Year concert, hope they'll get the same sound director for it.

Thank you for trying to post the whole Melody Journey episode (tomorrow). There were no English subs, but the images and sound hopefully tell the story. Even if it's somewhat staged, you can't fake the reaction of the show's composers, that audience, or LYN's kindness in comforting the composer. That's all in the moment.
Just as a side note, while watching this open air performance, it occurred to me, you (sadly) can't do a staged performance like that in America anymore. Amidst all those tall buildings, there's no security that could sufficiently protect the stage or audience. It's just an incredibly open, vulnerable setting. Awe.
Gikata
November 1, 2024 at 10:57 AM
@cliosservant1846 clips from episodes are uploaded without subs, but entire episodes all have them (and, hopefully, won't experience later blunders with rights - like his "Stolen heart" recent stage video that got muted not even 2 weeks after release, I'm so pissed about it!). It wasn't a part of main episode, but he also gave composer his number and permission to send him demos anytime, so maybe we'll have them collaborating again. With Yuning's extra productivity likely sooner than later lol.
You mean, security for performers? Or audience? The concert in question was held in Macau - the rich people resort city - so I assume safety there is decent at least.
Clios Servant
November 1, 2024 at 11:15 AM
Security for everyone -- on stage performers, crew, orchestra, audience. This is a security consultant's nightmare; setting surrounded by higher structures with many, many windows. Any combat veteran would avoid being in that audience and most certainly not allow their family to attend.
I marveled at the hubris of that moment.
Scared the daylights out of me; if I were LYN staff, I'd lock him in a closet before I'd let him perform on a stage like that in America.
Sorry to say this is a grim reality. I'm burdened by too much history.

How am I blown away week after week by his performances is a wonder. I am always super-awed by these huge stages they build for performances. The bts of Hardworking People helped put things in perspective but how can anyone be expected to sing atop that stage and not be dumbstruck.

Sigh, he / his team doesn't know about his fans!? How / why ... is his SNS not bombarded by enough messages!?
Gikata
November 5, 2024 at 5:13 PM
@seeker he doesn't have any sns outside of local ones - Weibo, Douyin etc. And those are hard to access to foreigners both technically and language-wise. Things like Insta/twitter etc are sorta illegal in China, but many artists still have them somehow (managed distantly, I think), while he doesn't. Ofc, some extra stubborn folks DO spam his Weibo with foreign languages comments, but they are droplets in the sea. For years he's been genuinely convinced that ALL his non-Mainland fans are still part of diaspora... there seem to be some questioning of this clearly wrong narrative lately (I assume thanks to fans spamming sns of 2 international brands he endorses), but idk where it goes.

NOTES FROM 9TAILEDVIXEN'S FINAL WEEK OF OCTOBER 2024:
1. This Week in Life
Happy and blessed Diwali to all Beanies who celebrate this festival!
Diwali was yesterday and my teachers have taken a long weekend. So I only had 1 Aerial Yoga class this week... which sucks since I've found that if I go regularly, it means my body will just keep progressing in terms of flexibility and core strength but any extended time off means backsliding. Ah well...
2. This Week in Korean Women's News
(a)South Korean man jailed for 10 years in landmark deepfake porn case targeting university women
A South Korean court handed a 10-year jail term to a man who spread deepfake porn images of women who attended the nation’s top university.
In one of the most high-profile early cases, between 2021 and April of this year two men created and distributed nearly 2,000 degrading AI-generated pornographic images of women who attended the same alma mater as the men, Seoul National University.
One of the two offenders, surnamed Park, was sentenced to 10 years in prison, while the other assailant, surnamed Kang, received a four-year sentence, a spokesperson for the Seoul Central District Court told AFP.

(b) 6B Trend Phenomenon In South Korea, Women Reluctant To Interact With Men
Recently, the 6B movement in South Korea has managed to steal the world's attention. Reported by VOI from The Independent page on Friday, November 1, 2024, initially appeared a 4B movement on women in 2019. The 4Bs are Bihon (unregistered), Bichulsan (not giving birth), Biyeonae (not dating), and Bisekseu (not having sex).
Five years later, this movement managed to attract widespread attention on social media. Now, this trend has increased to the '6B' phenomenon by adding that women's principles completely reject relationships with men. 6B focuses on cutting off women's communication and interactions with men.
This movement is a symbol of resistance to violence and injustice that women often experience. In addition, this movement is also part of the form of affirmation of identity and the choice of modern life.

How sad. We are made for relationships.

We are, but not all relationships must be man-woman. There have always been alternatives to that: Buddhist and Christian nuns being just one example. Neither men nor women should be forced into a common mold. But this does seem to be extreme.

Another example: lesbianism. Which was behind a similar movement in the US in the 1970s--which is a long time ago.
I mean, maybe these 6B folks are more inclusive than the separatists were? The kids these days are more aware of the possibility of asexuality or aromanticism. Lesbianism implies dating, lovers and so on. If you have intimate partners there's always the possibility of intimate partner violence, I guess?
According to the internet, this 6B movement has taken off in China. (They added more Bs they don't do.) I'm interested and would like to read more about this.

we are not made for a purpose, the purpose is ours to find and choose. There is not specification or terms and conditions to follow being born into the world so saying we are made for relationships is kind of naive.

"No man is an island . ." I've studied and thought a lot about purpose and what makes us happy. Relationships. Yes some people like solo life, but I don't believe that it will be satisfying in the long run for the majority of us.

Deep fakes are a worldwide problem but apparently higher in Korea. More needs to be done to combat this. It should be treated as an actionable tort akin to assault and defamation- but with the victim able to get a court order directing the security services of the country to track down the perpetrators. Damages would be assessed in much the same manner as in a libel case.

I'm confused about these trend reports cause on the one hand they're saying women aren't dating, marrying, or having kids and then there's reports that the birth rate is seeing increases

I think it means "not married".
Not sure why they used the term "unregistered" here because the 4Bs are: to not marry men, to not have sex with men, to not date men, and to not bear children for men.

Hi guys, my mind is completely blank but I am rejoicing because Taemin announced new dates for Ephemeral Gaze world tour and one of them is Helsinki which is as close as it gets to Tallinn, I suppose, I can take a ship and stay the night at a friends´ place. I am on cloud nine, assuming I secure a ticket.
on the other hand doing the movie club is hard here when most korean movies contain alcohol, smoking, swearing and violence but I have minors in the club.
I picked a sort of suitable movie for halloween where Lee Kwang Soo turns into a fish. from 2015. hopefully not too depressing though
of here is my switch!
bye!
omg omg im freaking out there is a chance to see Taemin. March come faster...,

I have always loved the sound of the theramin, associating it with cheesy 1950s Science fiction films like "It Came from Outer Space" and "The Day the Earth Stood Still" (actually, that one is pretty good). Here's an interesting article on the history of the instrument: https://www.bbc.com/culture/article/20201111-the-theremin-the-strangest-instrument-ever-invented

Happy Halloween! This is my favorite time of year: Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Christmas I always sing at church, so there's a lot of work leading up that keeps me nice and busy. And then, after Christmas, we'll have auditions for our spring musical!
Speaking of, I've been practicing a Scottish accent for Brigadoon auditions and I think I'm slowly getting it. I'm sure mixing up regions and real Scottish people would be horrified, but I think it'll be passable.
Unfortunately I have a cold or allergies right now and my voice has been somewhat out of commission for the past few songs. This probably sounds incredibly dramatic, but when I'm not able to sing I feel like a part of myself is missing. It is SLOWLY getting better, at least.

Vienibenmio, I totally get you! I miss singing seriously so much I sometimes feel that maybe I am actually dead. My speaking voice is fine, but honestly after losing my voice for a week some years ago, whenever I want to really sing, I rediscover the fact that ... it's not really there anymore.

I've always dreamed of being a popular music star but was held back by the fact that I've never been able to carry a tune. Plus, I dance awkwardly. Also, I am not that good looking.
Lately, though, I've been experimenting with a computer auto-tune program. You sing into the mike, and then you can raise and lower the pitch, extend the note, or, in the program I've been using, you can even multiply your voice and make it sound as if there are several Hacjas in a chorus! (some people's nightmare, but kind of fun.)
Of course, if you are way off the pitch, adjusting it gives the tinny, obviously digitally manipulated tone that Daftpunk and Kanye West, among others, have used on purpose--but its pretty amazing in adjusting slight misses in key or in smoothing out an old man's quavering voice. Now, if I can just master a CGI program to make me it look like I'm dancing, I'm planning on releasing a few music videos, and a senior citizen idol will be born!
Anyway, @vienibenmio and @ceciliedk if you, unlike me, can sing but don't quite hit the notes like you used to, I recommend singing into the computer and allowing autotune to restore you to your former greatness! Even your family and close friends won't know the difference!

Having always been kind of enthusiastic about fancy dress, it has been strange that my youngest did not want help for her halloween costume this year. She is right; she is old enough to do that stuff herself, and she did *very* well, but ... Well, okay, then. She was Sally from Nightmare before Christmas.
At least I made the cake that you can see on my wall,

The BBC is not letting this story go, and posted again this week:
https://www.bbc.com/culture/article/20241025-should-there-be-a-ban-on-teenage-popstars
While the whole idea of banning under 18 popstars is unrealistic, it does make one wonder about the intersection of addiction on still-forming teenage brains and bodies, and the music business as a machine for promoting young talent.
It also made me reflect how extraordinarily lucky it was for a performer like Liu Yu Ning to come into the music business on his own terms. Being unusual was actually to his advantage: hard to package unusual teen talent.
It makes you marvel at how lucky were teen talents like Lee Jun-ho and Rain to make it through the meat grinder.

Things used to be worse tho - some years ago in SK they implemented a law about teen idols/actors work conditions, limiting amount of hours they can work and days to skip school etc. Before that there were no regulations about it at all, I believe. Idk about other countries tho.
LYN loves to lament his late debut, but I think it was for the better - he's got to experience enough of life first, so now he's strong enough to withstand whatever showbiz throws at him, and with grace at that. You know how the say - mystery makes a woman and history makes a man.

Thank you to @oldawyer for recommending the Wim Wenders movie Perfect Days. I am still thinking about it since we watched it a few days ago. I didn't think I was going to enjoy a film about a person who has a job cleaning public toilets! I related so much to the main character's emotional response to his music. I also realized I frequently visit specific trees in my neighborhood and photograph them.

I've waited a week to talk about this! Haha
I went to see my first kpop group last week. It was Seventeen.
The thing is I'm not an actual fan of their music but I liked them as performers and entertainers so I decided I wanted the experience in concert. It was worth it. They are just fun to watch. They had this skit with a boardgame and I was thinking "is that.. jumanji?" and it was haha.
When I got my ticket, I looked up their setlist and then listened to their songs. I like the songs more after seeing them perform.
I've also watched their youtube variety show and their appearance on Na PD's show on youtube (I think it's his show haha). I found that quite enjoyable haha. They can be so chaotic. (It almost remind me of watching Got 7 videos haha). I am just tickled when idols show their goofy side haha. That's also why it was a bit jarring for me to see how serious they can look when they're performing. It's most surprising when the introverted ones exude that aura. Like solely on appearance, I would not have thought the one who wears glasses was apart of the rap/hip hop team.
Since I like them, I want to be able to talk about them but *sigh* it's hard to find casual fans to talk about them with especially since I'm more of new casual fan who doesn't know songs or history.
But wouldn't you know it, as soon as I get into them, freaking "issues" over stupid stuff (one of them tagged a female idol after taking a picture with her billboard => receives backlash/criticism. The next guy posts that he went for a run and enjoyed the nice weather => backlash/criticism over the *timing* of his post. Third guy apparently wrote or said something about Girls Generation at some point in that past. I have no idea what that one is actually about but 🙄😮💨.
This is why I only wanna enjoy them in their shows and appearances and not get to emotionally invested cause ugh, it's mentally taxing thinking about what what idols have to put up with and/or defending them. (Then again, folks defend them to support them & give them strength so that don't feel alone). Still! It's alot to be emotionally attached haha

If you think the "issues" Seventeen is experiencing/has experienced is bad, BTS is like 10 times worse.
I have ARMY friends trying their darndest to get me to officially become ARMY. However, like what you're doing with Seventeen, I am going to avoid getting emotionally invested. Just watching ARMY having to go to bat for Suga during that horrible Drunk Scootering Incident during which the K-Media went for his throat with disinformation and antis were sending funeral wreaths to the Hybe building calling for him to leave the band just made me go: "Nope."
Yup, no matter how much ARMYs dangle my bias in front of me (they actually lobbed him at me like a metaphorical grenade when I just mentioned last September that I liked JungKook's album GOLDEN. And no, it's not JungKook), I remain a casual fan with one bias.
That's as far as I will go.

I get upset just seeing how idols or celebrities are treated even if I'm not a fan; it's just on principle haha.
Like with Suga; I get that he messed up but the backlash and reaction didn't fit what happened.
I'm gonna try to not get too invested but alas it's a slippery slope.

"I get upset just seeing how idols or celebrities are treated even if I'm not a fan; it's just on principle haha."
Same here. I get that they are entertainers but they deserve the same basic respect and fair and safe working conditions like anyone who is working in any industry.
Watching what happened to Suga was very distressing because it kicked my empathy into overdrive, especially when ARMYs I know told me he had depression and was suicidal at one point a few years back.
And I'm not even ARMY.
So yeah, for our mental health, we need to be a step removed and not be in the fandom.
Hilariously, because I do like and respect my bias a whole lot, the ARMYs are still trying to tell me I'm Baby ARMY whether I like it or not.
I just told them I have my limits. And those limits are exactly what you've described.

It's savageness, dehumanization, and hypocrisy that angers me most.
Fandoms are truly so bizarre; they CAN be awesome but when they turn, it's just nasty. As a regular person the whiplash is intense so I can't even imagine how it is for celebrities especially idols who often train as young, (still) developing teens in this machine that could almost be considered culty.
I respect those who are able to have a sense of self and their own thoughts/opinions/identity outside of being idols/entertainers.

What is the ideal concert seat?
This year I went to concerts where I had floor seats and nose bleed seats for the first time. Both times I still ended up watching monitors/the big screens.
With the floor seats, I couldn't see past the tall people in front and with the upper floor, obviously you can't see the performers in details.
So, I wondered how other people approach their seats for music concerts

It depends on the layout of the venue.
A good concert seat will be close enough to the stage to be able to see the band without squinting or resorting to the giant screens but still far away enough from the floor crowd so you don't get your view blocked.

I always prefer the first row in the mezzanine or balcony. If I'm in the first row then there is never anyone in front of me. That also helps if people want to stand at a concert, and I want to sit since once people stand it can obstruct my view. Also, an aisle seat works if I can't get first row mezzanine/balcony since I can always lean out to see. I rarely get floor seats since usually they are that one level with people standing all around me so I can't see at all. I'd rather be a little farther away than not see at all. I also like the view from first row mezzanine since you can usually see the entire stage and usually those seats are actually pretty close to the stage. They also are often more expensive.

Happy weekend Beanies and keep Beaning On!
…I have been absent a whole month, it is November already!😱
October has been unnecessarily hectic because of my chaotic planning. There I was, warning everyone that I was occupied from half November onwards with another work formation and to please not disturb me then. Everyone, which is 99% my perfectionism, interpreted this to mean that I was free to disturb until then.😅
Lots of adulting this past month, especially during my time off work. Pro stood for productivity this month, but con stood for contagious. It started with stress that affected my sleep schedule, but before I knew it other ailments and a nasty cold joined in on the fun. I am currently on longer leave from work and on the mend, but the next few days are packed and that will undo some of my recovery.😴
Ironically, but fortunately the schedule is empty as soon as the work formation starts. I won’t have much else to focus on then, and I will have my weekends to myself. There is a nice November batch coming up!🥳
