Beanie level: Entertainer-in-training

They finally locked in on a ML! It’s big break for Heo Nam Jun to get a male lead role.

Looking forward to Kim DaMi and Shin Ye Eun in their new drama.

Day 12 Favorite Mess

Queen of Tears – it was messy and tropey but mostly entertaining.

Day 13 Meta I Loved

Kim Soo Hyun and his Suzy smile. And also a lot from rederences on other actors foe their previous roles.

Day 14 Best Cameo

Hands down Lee Joon in My Sweet Mobster

Day 15 Name The Plot Hole

The time slip resolution for both The Story of Park\’s Marriage Contract and Lovely Runner was making my head ache. I have to be very careful when watching any more time slip kdrama romance.

Day 16 That Tall Guy

There would be a lot like Byun Woo Seok ans Rowoon.

Day 17 Your non K-drama recommendation
Meet Yourself
Agatha All Along
Joy of Life 1&2
New Life Begins

Day 18 Awful Parent

Step Mom in Twinkling Watermelon

Day 19 Child Actor that You Know Will Be A Star

Yoo Na from The Kidnapping Day and Good Partner

Yesss! I think I still have GIF saved of the Kim Soo Hyun Suzy smile. It makes me laugh a lot.

Also, same! I love time travel, but they do hurt my head sometimes.

Day 11 Funniest Scene

My All-Time Favorite is the birthday scene in Run On.

For this year, I really liked:

😸 Lovely Runner – In Hyuk babysitting the drunk Sun Jae and Tae Seong.

😸 Seoul Busters – their stint as the undercover MZ gang 🤣

14

The only cafe in Seoul scene will be forever my favourite in Run On, and stays probably on my top 5 favourite scenes in dramaland.

Day 10 Real Villain

I am very tired of watching the news. The real villains are the rich and powerful who abuse their influence/power and wealth for personal gain.

Day 9 Most Stylish Drama

I particularly liked the art direction of Queen of Tears and The Trunk. Despite the QoT’s tropey storylines especially in the last four episodes, there is nothing wrong with the drama’s art direction and cinematography. I found a lot of episodes beautifully shot and the chaebol family are fabulously dressed.
I also liked how The Trunk had gorgeous sets.

I am catching up since I missed a lot of days.

Day 6 Case of Miscasting

As much as I like Han Hyo Joo and enjoyed her chemistry with Joo Ji Hoon. She portrayed her character in Blood Free very blandly. Not sure if this is a case of miscasting or just an interpretation of the character. I expected more.

Day 7 OST I Am Obsessed With

Nothing has taken over my love for the OST of Our Beloved Summer yet.

Day 8 Childhood Connection That Made Sense

Connection – I like the realistic portrayal of friendship. People who went to school together and share experiences. Eventually grow apart as they pursue their own things. But came back together as friends later in life

Day 5 Scene Stealer

Kwak Dong Yeon as Hong Soo Cheol in Queen of Tears – KWY was the second reason I watched QoT. I always wanted to check out his projects. Soo Cheol is an airhead with a heart of gold that dearly loves his little family. Who could resist him?

Song Geon Hee as Kim Tae Seong in Lovely Runner – I rarely get Second Lead Syndrome so its surprising for me that in most of the scenes he is in, he captured by attention.

Im Chul Soo as Go Yang Hui in My Sweet Mobster – Him in his Chanel outfits channeling GD is a definite scene stealer. I always look forward to his outfits every episode.

Never did I ever imagine pearls and gangster can be spoken about in the same breath but with Im Chul-soo one can never day never. 😂

    1
    1

I love his outfits. It softens his gangster persona.

      1
      1

Both his wardrobe and his cat (also his Cat name) went a long way of remove the menace from him aura. Then he complained that no one took him seriously as a gangster. Tur, tut. *smh*

        1
        2

I love your description of Soo-cheol. 🥰 Exactly that!! An airhead who loves his family. 🫰🏻

Tae-sung was totally the textbook 2ML who with a lesser competition than Ryu Sun-Jae would have totally owned the show. 😂✊🏻

    1
    1

If the FL was wholeheartedly interested in Tae Sung, even if Sun Jae was in the picture, I would totally ship them. TS is such a great guy like SJ. So FL will not lose.

      1
      1

True I definitely feel it was Im Sol who made us fall headlong for Sun-jae. Of course his patented “loser in love” tag helped. 🙈🥰

Day 4 2024 Crush

Joo Ji Hoon I would watch any drama he is in. I sat through Blood Free and liking him in Love Your Enemy. Now looking forward to seeing him in Light Shop. 💡💕😉

Honourable Mention: Jo Jung Seok

The sheer number of Princess Hours I have sat through dramas for Joo Ji-hoon is not even funny 😂 so yea, perfect choice my friend. *high five* 🖐🏻

Day 3 Male Lead

Fan Xian – Joy of Life my absolute favorite ML this year. He is incredibly smart and cunning that he manages to outsmart his wily foes and nefarious court intrigues. He is also very loyal to his beloved and rightfully discreet in his dealings. This is the first time I see Zhang Rou Yun in anything and I love his portrayal of the ML.

Lee In – Captivating the King. Jo Jung Seok was amazoing portraying this complicated character. Despite his bad reputation and questionable actions, he made it made sense. The drama was not perfect in any means. Jo Jung Seok was impeccable in his portrayal that he was the only reason I finished watching the drama.

Jeong Jin Man – A Shop For Killers Jeong Jin Man is a great character. I am happy that Lee Dong Wook chose to play him. This may be a biased choice but I just love the guy.

Fan Xian was my favorite male lead this year as well – a great character played by a great actor!

Fan Xian is truly the ideal man 🙃 Nobody could have played him as well as Zhang Ruo Yun.

Best one. Yes ZRY added nuances to the character that made him very likeable and charismatic. 😊

Biased on not Jeong Jin-man is the way to go my friend.🫰🏻  🙌🏻 My only question is that it if I call out to him thrice will Lee Dong-wook appear in front of me!? 🤔😂❤

Day 1 Favorite Drama/s

Meet Yourself This is such a feel good drama that I only got around to watching earlier this year.
Good Partner my favorite because its such a smart drama that champions divorce to a conservative society.
Dreaming of a Freaking Fairy Tale this is the drama I laughed out the most so its why its on this list.
A Shop for Killers I really enjoyed watching this show from start to end.
Joy of Life 1&2 I enjoyed watching both seasons back to back.

    Great choices. 😊❤

Me too – I only rewatched scenes that I like but can’t stand the whole thing, especially the later part when the 2ML becomes so insufferable.

I watched the—-slightly remastered—anime version when it came out (PYH was already gone by then, rip 😢), and I liked it, so I look forward to this 🥰

I do not know what they are selling but I like seeing them endorse this together. 😉🥰
SK Enmove should extend Lee Dong Wook and Gong Yoo’s contract. 😊

They can sell me anything they like … just as long as we get to see them together. 😍❤

I have expected a knives flying over the breakfast table moment. 👍🤣

It is possible a lubricant or it is a cooling fluid. Unfortunately, Physics dictate that all of these will get hot but either not as much because of reduced friction or because the fluid is transferring the inevitable heat to a different place. The laws of Thermodynamics cannot be repealed.

Aside from the lovely Sun Sol scenes already mentioned, I like this quiet moment shared between father and son.

And Tae Sung’s reaction seeing Sun Jae’s face on his drink is a big plus! 😆

I was so happy to see TS’ father. I was little scared for him. This was a very nice scene.
TS’ comment about the cabbie felt meta – like the writer-nim telling us not to worry about him and just focus on the cuties. 🤣

    1
    1

I am happy they are both okay.
I agree we need ro focus on the good guys. TS had very wise words. To me its the writer saying do not give these criminals any power since they are just losers.

      1
      2

You are right of course. I was quite irritated with the cabbie and wasn’t really interested in his motivations.

I’m very happy the drama took time to thank Tae Sung. Indeed all the good guys had nice scenes in the finale. Your screencaps are indeed the best moments.

        1

I like that everyone in this new timeline was happy.

        1
        1

The cabbie was superfluous. I hope writers will stop mixing murderers in romcoms. That will be the day.

I like Tae Sung. Best thing is that the writer gave him his own happy ending by having a life well-lived and a good relationship with his father.

Best thing is that everyone is happy. After Sol’s multiple time travel and chances, she finally got it right.

          1
          1

Really, getting serial killers out from rom-coms will be a very fine day indeed. 🙌

I loved Tae Sung as the Eclipse bassist, even as the clothes influencer / seller. While being a detective after that seems boring, it is “family business” after all and he’s happy so I’m glad. In the initial timeline he didn’t seem to share a good relationship with his father and was celebrating his birthday alone. I’m glad the father – son dynamic is good now.

Eclipse is successful, Sun-Jae is a top star and now Sol is a film director. My heart is full. I’m happy to wish our drama farewell on this happy note.
