Sohn Ye-jin, Ji Chang-wook

  • A new sageuk called Scandal is in the works – potentially under Netflix – with Sohn Ye-jin (Thirty-Nine) and Ji Chang-wook (Queen Woo) in talks to play leading roles. The series will be a remake of the acclaimed 2003 film Untold Scandal (starring Lee Mi-sook and Jeon Do-yeon), which is itself an adaptation of the French novel Dangerous Liaisons re-imagined in a Joseon era. With filmmaker Jung Ji-woo (Somebody, Tune in for Love) attached to direct, production is aiming to start filming in March. [Newsen, YTN]

  • Also set in Joseon times, KBS is preparing a new fantasy rom-com titled Dear Bandit (roughly translated). Reportedly headlined by Nam Ji-hyun (Good Partner) and Moon Sang-min (Cinderella at 2AM), the story follows our Robin Hood-like heroine and prince pair as body-swap shenanigans paint the way for love. [Star News]
  • Back in the present, the office rom-com Let’s Go to the Moon (roughly translated) is busy with casting as well, courting Ra Mi-ran (Jeongnyeon – The Star is Born), Lee Sun-bin (Boyhood), Kim Young-dae (No Gain No Love) and Jo Ah-ram (The Auditors) to star as our story’s everyday salary people enslaved living the corporate life. Clockwise: Ra Mi-ran, Lee Sun-bin, Jo Ah-ram, Kim Young-dae

  • Choi Min-soo (Numbers) has confirmed casting for MBC’s upcoming Motel California, playing the romanticist motel owner and dad to Lee Se-young (What Comes After Love). Expected to broadcast early next year, the novel adaptation also stars Na In-woo (Marry My Husband) and has production led by PD Kim Hyung-min and writer Lee Seo-yoon (365 – Repeat the Year). [MBC]
  • Lee Joo-myung (Like Flowers in Sand) has been added to the melo romance My Youth (working title), joining Song Joong-ki (Reborn Rich) and Chun Woo-hee (The Atypical Family) in the cast lineup. Helmed by PD Lee Sang-yub (Yumi’s Cells) and scripts by Park Shi-hyun (Run On), the series is planning to release in 2025. [JTBC]
  • In the meantime, KBS’s Face Me will soon be on our screens in just one more week, showcasing leads Lee Min-ki (Crash), Han Ji-hyun (Spice Up Our Love), Lee Yi-kyung (Marry My Husband), and Jeon Bae-soo (Dear Hyeri) in new character posters. The medical crime-mystery premieres on November 6 in the Wednesday-Thursday slot. [Sports Donga]

#1. Ji Changwook has been working nonstop, for which I am grateful because I will always have something to anticipate. I hope he has enough rest though.

His projects are not always to everyone's taste, but he always delivers. His acting ability has been refined through time and now it's sheer joy for me to watch him on screen.

I can tell you one thing, @tccolb, you've sold me on the 2003 movie Untold Scandal simply by putting the words "Dangerous Liaisons" and Lee Mi-sook next to one another. Thanks for the intel (I see it's on all the streaming sites)!!!

If Scandal is a Netflix Original, I wonder how risqué the remake will be. Also interesting that Untold Scandal lists Lee Mi-sook before Jeon Do-yeon but leaves out Bae Yong-joon.

Kim Young-dae never needs to worry about being unemployed.

I'll be tuning in for My Youth. Love Song Joong-ki and Chun Woo-hee.

I think Lee Mi-sook did have first billing as she's listed first on the movie poster and then Jeon Do-yeon second. Bae Yong-joon is third and I prob should have included him, but I wanted to keep the list short, hehe 😅

Lee Yi-kyung’s poster says “multi face”… which means there’s about a 90% chance he turns out to be the bad guy, right?

There are some star-studded dramas in the works! I love how much there always is to look forward to in dramaland!

Dear Bandit maybe my first Moon Sang Min drama that I will watch after Under the Queen's Umbrella. Its because of Nam Ji Hyun and I love her in 100 Days My Prince. I love both her and Doh Kyung Soo ofcourse since they had great chemistry. Hopefully her new drama is good and can have a similar charm as 100 Days.

Motel California, My youth, Lets go to the moon all sound promising, The body swap sageuk needs further investigations, if its comedy it’s a yes if it has a Forbidden love dark themes mixed with comedy then it’s a clear no. 2025 could be a good year as some looooooong awaited dramas are due out.

1) I hope it will be a better adaptation of Les liaisons dangereuses than Tempted...

2, 3 and 4) I'm not really fan of the main male actors...

5) I like this casting.

6) LMK is not a cop but still resolving crimes 😅
