News bites: October 17, 2024

Clockwise: Kang Haneul, Go Min-shi, Yoo Soo-bin, Kim Shin-rok

  • Kang Haneul (Curtain Call) is turning chaebol for the first (?) time in a new rom-com called Your Taste (roughly translated), starring alongside chef Go Min-shi (The Frog), in addition to Kim Shin-rok (Sweet Home 3) and Yoo Soo-bin (The Perfect Deal). Aiming to release in 2025, PD Park Dan-hee (Weak Hero Class 1) is at the helm with scripts by Jung Su-yoon (Hope or Dope). [Newsen]

  • Coincidentally, it’s a love-filled news post today with SBS reportedly preparing a new office rom-com, penciling it into the 2025 calendar. Courting Ahn Eun-jin (Goodbye Earth) and Jang Ki-yong (The Atypical Family) to headline We Shouldn’t Have Kissed (roughly translated), the team is being led by PD Kim Jae-hyun (One Dollar Lawyer) and writer Ha Yoon-ah (Showtime Begins, Mystic Pop-up Bar). • A new romance called Spring Fever is also in the works, potentially pairing Ahn Bo-hyun (Flex x Cop) and Lee Joo-bin (Tarot). With both actors currently in talks, production is also in discussions to broadcast on tvN and is planning to start filming next year with PD Park Won-gook (Marry My Husband) attached to direct. • In the meantime, ENA will soon be Brewing Love with Kim Se-jung (Uncanny Counter 2: Counter Punch) and Lee Jong-won (Bad Memory Eraser) getting cozy in the newest poster. Taking over the Monday-Tuesday slot following Dear Hyeri on November 4, the rom-com has PD Park Sun-ho (Business Proposal) directing and writing by Lee Jung-shin. [Newsen]
  • KBS continues announcements for this year’s Drama Special season, lining up Jung Geon-joo (Bittersweet Hell) and Choi Hee-jin (The Impossible heir) to star in the short drama If You Turn the Corner (roughly translated). The melo romance is expected to broadcast on November 26, with PD Lee Hae-woo and writer Seok Yeon-hwa leading production. [KBS]
  • JTBC’s The Tale of Lady Ok (previously The Story of Lady Ok) delivered stills from the first script reading, showcasing our sageuk leads: Im Ji-yeon (The Killing Vote), Choo Young-woo (Oasis), Kim Jae-won (Hierarchy), and Yeonwoo (Dog Knows Everything) among others in the cast. Slated to premiere on November 30, the Joseon-era historical will be swindling our hearts on weekends. [MBC]

There are a lot of fresh pairings. Not sure if I can see some will have chemistry onscreen. I guess we shall see in the final product.

I'm loving this triple much. I'm just so glad Lee Joo-bin is getting that pairing.
