Na In-woo, Lee Se-young

  • Lee Se-young (The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract) and Na In-woo (Marry My Husband) are becoming reunited first loves, confirming casting for MBC’s new romance Motel California. Based on a novel called Home, Bitter Home, the drama’s title refers to the motel run by Lee’s father, where she was raised. Aiming to broadcast in 2025, the series is being penned by Lee Seo-yoon (365 – Repeat the Year) with PD Jang Jun-ho (The Game – Towards Zero) and PD Kim Hyung-min (Love Scene Number) co-directing. [MBC]

  • Casting continues for writer Noh Hee-kyung’s (Our Blues) new period series, which finally has a working title: Show Business. With an offer now out to Seolhyun (Summer Strike), she’ll potentially to be joining Song Hye-gyo (The Glory) and Gong Yoo (The Silent Sea) who are still in talks. Directed by PD Lee Yoon-jung (Summer Strike), the story will be exploring the emerging music industry in the aftermath of the Korean War. [Xports News]
  • In the meantime, MBC is gearing up for I Don’t Like Donkatsu’s upcoming release, delivering a new poster of our crying village head Jung Sang-hoon (Twinkling Watermelon). Feeling indignant to be told by others to tie up his “chili pepper” when it isn’t even theirs, we’ll be following his vasectomy journey when the short comedy unfolds on July 5. [MBC]

  • Disney+ came out with a new poster for the action-melo Red Swan, where Kim Haneul (Nothing Uncovered) and Rain (Ghost Doctor) wrestle with their conflicting feelings, unable to pursue love but unable to stay away. With production led by PD Park Hong-kyoon (Hwayugi) and writer Choi Yoon-jung, episodes will be dropping two a week on Wednesdays, starting July 3. [Herald Pop]
  • In cameo news, Song Joong-ki (Reborn Rich) is set to make a special appearance on Netflix’s Japanese drama Romantics Anonymous, starring Oguri Shun (The 13 Lords of the Shogun) and Han Hyo-joo (Blood Free). Kwon Yuri (Good Job), on the other hand, will be featured in a cameo on JTBC’s The Art of Negotiation, which stars Lee Je-hoon (Chief Inspector 1958) and Kim Dae-myung (Hospital Playlist). [MBC, Star News]
  • Adding to our poster party this week, tvN’s newest puts the spotlight on our odd-couple duo as Shin Ha-kyun (Evilive) and Lee Jung-ha (Moving) learn to work together in The Auditors. United by the goal of cleaning out the corrupted corporate rats, the office comedy will be beginning their audit investigations on July 6 in the weekend slot. [News1]

Lee Se-young is always a reliable and consistent actress regardless of the quality of whatever drama she is in, her male lead is bland but if the writing is good that wont matter.

Noh Hee-kyung dramas always have one thing in common, the writing is always the star of the show, the actors are secondary especially "personality" type actors like GY and SHK.

I generally avoid Netflix productions but ill make an exception for Romantics anonymous, i love the cast and the im a fan of the original french film.

1) I'm not a fan of NIW, I found him very bland on screen. So give me her drama with Kentaro Sakaguchi!

2) A big PD and a big writer! With actors they already filmed with. But again, for now, I just want Gong Yoo's drama with Seo Hyun-Jin!

5) I love these interactions between Korean and Japanese actors! Oguri Shun and Han Hyo-Joo, I couldn't dream of better duo!

6) Let me enjoying The Midnight Romance before tempting me with the following drama.

Same. I'm more excited about her drama with Kentaro Sakaguchi.
I've only watched Oguri Shun in Taiga (historical) dramas. I remember Akanishi Jin from "47 Ronin." It's good to see him in the cast with semi-long hair. 😍 Whoever is dressing Han Hyo Joo in the drama should be fired.
I like this kind of pairing. Here is hoping for more.

This mix between countries is like if 2 of my worlds were colliding. It's quite fun!

Oguri Shun did the classics of the classics of the drama world with Hana Yori Dango (Boys over Flowers) and Hanazakari no Kimitachi e. But he has a great filmography with Tokyo DOG, Rich Man, Poor Woman, BORDER, Nobunaga Concerto, etc.

I am curious about the comedy genre in the auditors. Can accounting and eliminating corrupt people have a fun side?

I loved Na In-woo in Mr. Queen, and I'm currently enjoying him in River Where The Moon Rises, so I'm very excited for his drama with the great Lee Se-young!

Hope The Auditors will be fun!

I really enjoyed watching him in Marry My Husband, so I’m surprised he seems to have such universal disdain on here! There are certainly better actors, but also way worse ones, so I’m happy to keep an open mind until I see more about this one.

I know... 🥲 As you said, there are certainly better actors, but what I love about him is that he exudes a genuineness and sweetness (and yes, this is also influenced by first seeing him and subsequently adoring him in 2D1N). I'm considering watching Marry My Husband for him, even though I don't like dark/psychological dramas 😅

For what it’s worth, I don’t think it’s too dark or psychological. The villains veer a little into that territory, but only enough to make them interesting. I found it nothing like The Glory, for example. But you know best for you of course!

Thank you that's actually really helpful!! I might give it a try!! 🤗

1. NIW is the blandest of the bland, so this is probably a skip for me and I adore LSY.

2.I will watch anything with GY, I sat through the entirety of Goblin and I loathe that drama, so this should be a pleasant surprise.

3. This looks amusing!!

4. I will try for Rain, KH is usually a miss for me.

5. I hope it differentiates itself from Eye Love you, because the premise is cute.

6. AUDITORS!!!! please please please please bring me joy.

I cannot wait to watch "Red Swan", it seems to be more to my liking and appealing. I have been skipping so many "lovey-dovey" drama series, and I am tired with stories that are overly romantic and involve a lot of affectionate and romantic behavior that I find repetitive and unrealistic (except for "Uncle Samsik", "Crash" and "Chief Inspector" that I watch on weekends). Hope the broadcasting networks such as MBC, KBS and SBS would offer stories that deal with other aspects of life, or that portray relationships in a more nuanced or realistic way. Just throw in my two cents.

1. NIW = No. He induces sleep.

2. GY. nuff said.

3. Not sure

4. Red Swan - the premise is intriguing but will probably wait for it to end before deciding whether I want to watch.

5. Skip

6. This poster is almost a photocopy of 'Suits', including the sneakers and suit look of PHS. I am not yet sure about this one.

Additionally, looks like Park Hyung Sik's Treasure Island went on floors yesterday with script reading.

I thought he was going to film DESPERADO first? Or it's another OBY-HAPPINESS situation with last minute schedule swap between two shows?

He keeps his hair long even now - seems to be a long game choice. Wish they styled it a bit differently though...

There is no news on Deparado for now, so I guess it's probably still in casting stage. North Korean restaurant might be scheduled earlier as well.

I swear I read article about FL being casted (can't remember her name - some rookie) and other characters as well, but MDL page still lists himself only and apparently the whole thing has been in development for years... Looks a little alarming. Sure, noir action melo isn't the most popular kdrama genre as of lately and Hyungsik himself has no experience with it to easily pull target audience in, but PD and writer do, and how! These two shouldn't struggle so much with finding actors for their project, esp with decently popular ML's name attached to it.

North Korean restaurant? I feel like I've been sleeping under the rock to never heard of that before...

In North Korean Restaurant he is supposed to be a spy disguised as a flight attendant. He is paired with Seol In ah (I am not particularly wild about it) while she is a rich girl running away from N Korea to be a K-pop singer or something.

2

@minniegupta1 wait, what? Is it a drama? I haven't seen any articles about it and Google doesn't help either, saying such show already exists but he wasn't in it and its page won't load either to let me check. Do you have a link, perhaps?

Premise sounds high af, esp in current political climate. He's gonna make a pretty (fake) flight attendant tho, but still, why even?

What did she offend you with? I wouldn't call it a bad potential pairing - she has chemistry with her costars and can do fine with not super demanding role.

1

It's supposed to be 10 episodes scheduled for a 2025 release. I am not sure if they signed the dotted line though.

@minniegupta1 yep, that's the dead link to me - geolock, I suppose. Since there's no official confirmation or any other source yet, I'll remain skeptical.

Boy's drama jobs went astray, it seems - undercover agent, corrupt official and now NK spy? Or is he SK spy somehow? Anyway, what a change from sunny chaebols and upright royals)))

2

I'll grab a screenshot for you. Lol! True 😂

2

Wait. I didn't know The Auditors was going to be a comedy. 🤨

Might give it a try. Honestly, there's not a lot of new shows grabbing my interest.

Do we really need another story about a woman who I assume loses her career and is forced to return to her hometown only to run into her ex who apparently never stopped loving her and hasn't dated anyone else? Can't they mix things up a little bit?

Reading about 1 on Asianwiki, all I can say is this is a remake of Welcome to Samdalri. Except male lead is now a vet doctor and not a meteorological institute staff, and the female lead is an interior designer and not a photographer.

1. I'm liking the sound of this OTP.

2. Show Business for a show on the radio industry!?

4. ❤ Rain ❤ is my Oppa full stop.

5. I like cameos but someone give Song Joong-ki an ML role please. I'll be happier with Kwon Yuri as the FL.

6. Obviously Shin Ha-kyun is a great actor. No mere mortal will be able to resist smiling back at the cinnamon bun beside him.
