Miss Night and Day: Episodes 1-2

Dramaland’s newest rom-com is here with fantasy, mystery, and hijinks for our viewing pleasure. Our heroine’s unemployed and uncomplicated life takes a different turn after she wakes up in the body of a middle-aged woman. Living a double life can be jarring and scary, but what’s a little complication when she can finally achieve her dreams of becoming employed?

EPISODES 1-2

Miss Night and Day: Episodes 1-2

This drama had me the second I saw our bicycle-riding heroine, LEE MI-JIN (Jung Eun-ji), cycling down to write yet another civil servant exam. Unlike Mi-jin, I can’t relate to a frustrating eight-year-long job hunt, but I can certainly relate with the feeling of multiple trials — and failure — at other life endeavors. After the oral interview, our heroine loses the position to a namesake, but she doesn’t have the heart to tell her celebratory parents that it was another Lee Mi-jin who got the job.

Still, our Mi-jin is as spirited as they come, so she does the next best thing: meet up with a mysterious man who helps job seekers like her to get a government job. But first, Mi-jin has a meet-cute at the cafe with her leading man, prosecutor KYE JI-WOONG (Choi Jin-hyuk). Never mind that Mi-jin looks like she time-travelled from the Joseon era in her court lady hanbok. Lol. It turns out that the mysterious man is a scammer, and our hotshot Seoul prosecutor is here in Seohan to catch him in the act. Welp!

The scammer is arrested after a chase around town, but it will take a while for Mi-jin to get her money back. Never mind that she gave him her bank book and she’s in danger of getting roped as an accessory to his phishing scam. Sigh. Like her day couldn’t get any worse, Mi-jin swaps the envelope containing her resume with Ji-woong’s identical envelope. And when he calls to inform her about the swap, she assumes he’s another scammer so she cusses him out and blocks his number. Lol. Don’t you just love the mistaken identity trope?

Miss Night and Day: Episodes 1-2

It’s been a depressingly long day for Mi-jin, and all she wants to do is drown her sadness in soju and chat with her stray cat friend — but she ends up drowning diving into a well to save the cat after it falls in. Mi-jin wishes to be someone else while in the well, and her prayers are answered when she wakes up the next morning as an ahjumma (Lee Jung-eun). Omona!

Mi-jin’s parents get the fright of their lives on seeing a “stranger” in their house, and they call the cops on her. What follows is a hilarious sequence involving her parents chasing her around the house, Mi-jin spotting her ahjumma reflection in a glass, and Ahjumma Mi-jin trying to convince everyone at the police station that she was born in 1996. Of course they all think she’s crazy, and she also thinks she’s gone crazy. Aigoo.

Mi-jin returns to her normal self at night, and she suspects the cat she saved has something to do with her predicament, but the cat is nowhere to be found. Her bizarre transformation is here to stay, and it’s such a chore to rush out of the house before the sun rises (when she transforms to an ahjumma) and stay out all day until the sun sets (when she returns to her normal self). Unfortunately for Mi-jin she finds no solution in hospitals, shamans, or plastic surgery clinics. If only she knew to ask her leading man since he knows all about jumping into a body of water and waking up as a different person. Heh.

Speaking of Ji-woong, he puts in for a transfer from Seoul to the Seohan District Prosecutors’ office, and this is most likely connected to his investigation into the mysterious disappearance of some women in Seohan twenty years ago. Of course, we can’t have a rom-com without mystery and intrigue. By the way, it would seem that our transformation-inducing cat belongs to one of the missing women — who just so happens to be Mi-jin’s maternal aunt. Of course, our leads have to be connected somehow. Lol.

Refusing to wallow in her current situation, our spirited heroine soon discovers that there are certain advantages to living as an ahjumma. For one, she can take over her missing aunt’s identity and apply for a senior citizens’ internship program! It’s ironic that Mi-jin — or rather, IM SOON (Lee Jung-eun) — is the youngest applicant as a senior citizen when her younger self used to be the oldest at job interviews (and thus passed over in favor of younger applicants).

While age is on her side now, I liked the fact that it’s the various skills Mi-jin acquired in her eight years of job prep that really gives her an edge over the other applicants. She lands the internship and she’s so psyched to finally get a job after all these years — even if, as she soberly realizes, she got employed as Soon not as Mi-jin. I’m so happy for her, I could cry. By the way, where is this internship? Why of course, it’s at the Seohan District Prosecutors’ office! Mwahahah. So what if Soon’s internship ends up being a cleaning position? She falls into Ji-woong’s arms — again — on their first day on the job, and that’s all that matters. Heh.

Miss Night and Day: Episodes 1-2

Before leaving Seoul, Ji-woong prosecuted famous idol member, KO WON (Baek Seo-hoo) for drug use. And while Won — from King Land idol group, lol — gets off on probation, he’s forced to enlist for his mandatory military service to cool off from the scandal. Since Seohan is the hottest place in this drama’s universe, Won ends up as a public service worker at Seohan District Prosecutors’ office, and our leads are finally coming together under one roof. Ooh la la!

Won’s first day at work features screaming fangirls who come to cheer him on and a masked assailant who attempts to douse him with acid. You know, nothing too dramatic. Thankfully, Soon pushes the assailant out of the way with her cleaning mop, and Ji-woong shields her from the acid with his Black Umbrella of Protection. They make such a great team! On a lighter note, Ji-woong’s umbrella has been through a lot: from fangirls’ eggs to acid. Umbrella-nim needs to be repaired ASAP because it’s a supporting character at this point. Lol.

According to K-drama math, the sum of an umbrella and a hot male lead equals a swooning female lead, and Soon is no exception — until she learns that Ji-woong is a straight-laced workaholic and a social misfit who is only nice to people outside work. Soon snaps out of her swoon and makes a mental note not to get involved with Ji-woong. But guess who’s driving down to Lee Mi-jin’s mom’s butcher shop to drop off her resume? Heh.

Soon does a Fast and Furious to Mom’s shop after getting the “a handsome man named Kye Ji-woong is here to see you” call, and thankfully, the sun goes down just in time for her to meet Ji-woong as Mi-jin. She gets her resume and he gets… nothing… because she already packed his envelope — investigation files on the missing women’s case — with the exam prep books that she sold to a used bookstore. Oops!

Mi-jin and Ji-woong go to the bookstore to fall into his arms look for the envelope and slightly chip away at the ice between them. But just when Mi-jin finds the envelope, Ji-woong is called away to a crime scene: a woman has just been murdered and dismembered! Thriller elements in a rom-com? What else is new? But you know what, I actually don’t mind it here because it doesn’t feel out of place in a plot that already features disappearing women.

Ji-woong spots the axe-wielding raincoat killer fleeing the scene, and he chases after the killer’s car on foot. He intensifies the chase when he gets Mi-jin’s “I’m on my way home” text because: 1) the killer is headed in the same direction as Mi-jin; and 2) her number is unreachable. Unaware of the situation, a curious Mi-jin stops in the middle of the crossroad to snoop into the contents of Ji-woong’s envelope, and Ji-woong can only watch from afar as the killer speeds in her direction and crashes into something or someone… What did they say about curiosity and cats again? This is the cliffhanger on which we end our opening week, and if I wasn’t already invested in the drama, I am now.

This premiere is everything I hoped for, and it was a delight watching the episodes. I came for the fun — which the drama delivered on — but I wasn’t expecting Mi-jin’s story to be so relatable, moving, and ironic. The not-so-subtle hints of ageism that played out as regards Mi-jin’s job search were well done, and I liked the hilarity of Ji-woong and the other detectives’ assumption that she was much older than she is — no thanks to her slight ahjumma-like aura.

Maybe that’s why she’s totally killing it as an ahjumma — even though her millennial/Gen Z lingo betrays her age in comparison with the actual boomers. Lol. Kudos to Jung Eun-ji and Lee Jung-eun for complimenting each other so well and making Mi-jin and Soon believable as the same person. Omniscient viewer aside, I totally understood Mi-jin’s mom’s feeling of familiarity with Soon because the synchronization is just that good!

In the coming weeks, I look forward to Ji-woong’s interaction with Mi-jin and Soon, and all the hijinks the “three” of them will have. So far, Ji-woong’s “bad personality” is more of what other people say about him than what we actually see, and the good in him shines through in the little things like protecting Soon from acid attacks and silently sliding a stack of books away with his foot so that Mi-jin won’t trip at the bookstore.

Ji-woong’s closed off and cold-hearted nature is probably as a result of some childhood trauma stemming from his mother’s murder, and who knows if said murder is connected to the missing women or the raincoat killer? In any case, since Mi-jin is also connected to the missing women via her aunt, maybe they can display another round of amazing teamwork by solving the case together. But first, Show needs to get Soon out of that cleaning uniform and give her a desk job stat.

I loved everything about this except for the serial killer. USAIBFIWBJLABJLASBGJLABGLRJBZDJLAGSBASLJRGBAJLRG. I will continue to watch though, lol.

Lee Jung Eun is killing it, she is so delightful.

CJH and JEJ have such cute chemistry.

Also the umbrella as the multipurpose tool of choice is my new favorite kdrama trope. Fantastic. Good for rain, acid, and eggs.

Everybody needs love, even those poor serial killers. They are so underloved, they're forced to appear in rom com in the hope someone will give them a friendly little pat on the head. I think it's our duty as Beanies to show our poor under appreciated serial killer some affection. Ultimately, those guys work super hard (harder than anyone else because they are killing by the bucket load in literally every single k-drama... Quick, someone send them a box of red ginseng or some Kopiko!)

Save a K-drama, hug a serial killer.

1. I don't believe both actresses are playing the same person.

I get that during the day she's supposed to feel "extra energetic" because she's still young even if her body isn't (Idk how that works but ok), however, her vibe feels off, imo.

I can't imagine Eun Ji having that type of energy/high tension. Ever.😆
Even tho this character is more positive and brighter that any of her previous works, it still has a little of Eun Ji's neutrality. And then there's Jung Eun that feels way more bright and alive than Eun Ji (or any young person I know tbh).

They're trying to say that she keeps the health/energy/strength of a young person even when she gets older. But it actually feels like some Benjamin Button stuff is going on here, because she seems way healthier and positivity than the OG 28yo body.
I would say she has the soul of a 20 yo instead. Probably gets younger every day.

Night's body language is the one of someone carrying the weight and stress of 8 years of ramen and books. She also seems kind of shy/insecure but cute.

Day acts like someone that spent the last eight years going hiking with friends and having zero worries about life. She smiles and interacts way more. And even talks a different (Busan accent where are you?).

Even during the jumping in bed scene it felt totally different.
Of course, it could be that I'm too used to Eun Ji's vibe, so I can't picture her being like "yay! 😁" But I don't know, I don't feel like this character is supposed to feel that way.
Being X age won't make you automatically healthy, energetic and a ray of sunshine. At least not in the context this show gave.

That said, I do like the actresses individually. Like two different characters.

I want the parents to believe Mi Jin. It would be fun and cute to see them interact with Day.

Also, wingmom was so funny when she scolded dad, and then said "tonight we're getting grandchildren" 😂 The mom is my fave.

2. Honestly, I don't like Jin Hyuk in this type of role.
His chemistry with the FL is what always saves his boring characters (I don't believe anyone who says they watched Pride and Prejudice or Devilish Joy for the plot). So I really need his chemistry with these two actresses to be insane if we're going to turn this romcom into a serial killer chase.

All great points. 👌 👏

I would like to think her "hi-energy" during Day is just her pent-up excitement finding release but as you so astutely said it is not in synch with the 28 year old weary vibe the drama had set us up with till then. We never saw her as a Candy full of pep and bubbles before that.

Im Sol's mom being Mi-jin's mom was a bit disconcerting but she's just as much fun. Her 360° change of attitude on knowing the ML is a civil servant and thus a good match for her daughter was most relatable mom thing ever. I legit LOL-ed at her "spying" from behind the door while making heart eyes at the OTP and her grandchildren comment made my jaw drop down.

Mi-jin and her BFF's appas are also a good tag team. The scene where the BFF's appa is trying to lease the dark, dank and ghostly apartment to the ML was more fun because of Mi-jin's father and his comments.

I am that Beanie who has seen Pride and Prejudice. 🤣🤣🤣 Choi Jin-hyuk's speciality is that he has great chemistry with the FLs even as a 2ML *ahem* Fated to Love, Miss Panda and Mr. Hedgehog.

Straight off the bat, I have to say that Lee Jung Eun is the best of this show.

Now that that's out of the way, so far the show is what I expected. I thought the two women switching would be the most interesting and funny as well as the supporting characters. I wasn't interested in the male lead before and I'm not interested in him now.

By the end of episode 2, I had totally forgot about the idol and I wondered how we got to this point where all these different things are happening: the idol guy, a cold & active case, the senior interns, looking for the cat, and the body swapping. It's alot haha

But Lee Jung Eun was the best part so whenever she was onscreen, everything was tolerable for me haha. Oh man when she was dancing at the police station, I laughed & smiled so much haha.

I did feel bad for Mi Jin cause I don't understand *why* she kept failing and then as if things weren't bad enough, this freaky situation happens to her and she has to deal with it all alone.

Maybe it's because I've seen The Beauty Inside but I did think it was especially sad that her parents didn't even for a nanosecond think *maybe* something is going on here and this stranger is telling the truth (especially when she mentioned the mole on the mom's butt). Their reaction is probably the most realistic but it still made me feel bad for Mi Jin.

Thanks for the recap @unit I loved episode one as the hints of the missing women were at a level I cold handle so was very disappointed when the killer turned up and suddenly we were in a different drama. Watching Mobster and Cinderella at the same time shows that you can have a great rom com without thriller elements. I am so upset as this was such a delightful watch. I hate having to fast forward when watching a drama as I lose the full emersion experience. The jury is out on whether I will continue to watch for the fun and fast forward through the dark elements or reluctantly drop.

The serial killer is definitely an unwelcome addition. I'm afraid it is going the Tunnel way which was actually based on a RL serial killings of women in SK which were only solved after thirty odd years. In this drama the murders / missing women occurred 20 years ago. Le Sigh.

I was anticipating some case-solving and partnerships given Ji-woong is a prosecutor but I would prefer unconnected cases with less heavy themes rather than that heavy overarching mystery. It is still episode 2 but it was hard to watch the raincoat killer and his axe . I can't imagine watching when the drama gets darker.
I appreciate it gives our leads a connection but I think it got tossed in the wrong drama. That is a romcom not a thriller movie. I got in anticipating Beauty Inside/Perfume type of story but we got Behind your Touch vibes instead.

I wasn't expecting the serial murderer plot, so it's a thriller, fantastic and rom-com drama? Not sure to like this mix.

For the FL, I wasn't really convinced by Lee Jung-Eun in this role. I hope it was the usual exaggeration and she will calm down the antics that Jung Eun-Ji didn't do. I wish they chose if they speak with satori or not.

I was happy to see Choi Jin-Hyuk back. He's good in this kind of role.

I was tripped over by the details right off the bat: How did Mi-jin manage to run off set in her hanbok? Did she have to pay for damages? And how did Ji-woong miss the opportunity to apply salve lovingly to her forehead? What a trope miss! After all, he's already caught her falling thrice...or more? 😂

I wasn't tripped over by the important detail: serial killers! Thank you Beanies. Forewarned is forearmed. And my forearms got quite a workout lifting up the remote to fast-forward right thru those scenes. Commiserations to Beanies who can't. Maybe I'll join you later, but atm now I'm loving the hjinks enough to push thru it.

Since it's also a rom-com, I wonder who Ji-woong would fall for? Not all the ages are specified, but I think he is maybe aged between both versions of the FL? I quite like Mi-jin, but it'd be a great twist if he was to fall for ajumma! Why not?

Tho since she seems almost a different personality at times as some Beanies have pointed out, then we may get the Mr Queen or Oh My Ghost type dilemma at the end. Boo. (Ironically, Choi Jin-hyuk lost out in Mr Queen.) So let's get a better. earlier merge between the personalities show.

PS Is anyone hoping we have a Supernatural Cat Lady instead of a Supernatural Cat Man who'll keep changing the show rules to ensure 💔? Yeah, I'm not still traumatized, not me.

PPS I just love our red-lipsticked mom. @attiton has hers and many other fun moments giffed on her wall if you want to catch them.

Oh I wasn't thinking neccesasrily immediately for this show and it's "curse", I was just thinking in general about animal social structures 😂😂😂. Ah but you see, because bees tend to be attached to one hive and one only, you would merely have to find the hive. And if it was location based, that might not be as hard as you think. In fact, an entire swarm of bees as the bestower of magic would be a fun concept to play with.

I don’t think it’ll be like OH MY GHOST since that was two seperate souls trapped inside one body. I think it’ll be more similar to LOVESTRUCK IN THE CITY. The FL met the ML in Jeju Island where she completely reinvented herself a new persona. However, when she came back to Seoul she reversed back to her old personality and ghosted the ML thinking he wouldn’t like this version of her. There’s more to it than that but that’s about the gist of it.

I’m thinking this might be the case with Day Min-Jin and Night Min-jin? Day Min-jin being more confident might be because she’s considered the young one, who has impressive skill sets and a full time job, something Min-jin couldn’t achieve before the transformation. As in before, she was treated as a “loser”, too old and her résumé “unimpressive”. It’s kinda why I find both Jung Eun-Jin’s and Lee Jung-eun’s interpretation of Min-jin believable.

Night Min-jin carries the years of shame and rejection, and thus that’s how she perceives herself and how she feels others perceive her. It’s why I found her conversation with Ji-ung, who witnessed her getting scammed and knows of her failed attempts at the civil service exam, quite enlightening.

I dropped Lovestruck. 😔 But I can imagine. I didn’t actually mean two different people but her two very distinct personalities.

I hear you that all the positives that have happened to Min-Jin could explain some of the transformation, but it wasn’t always credible. I think @tabong outlined it better than I could in her first comment. I guess it’s a personal perception. And at times they did seem to align more closely. I guess for me it’s as @kurama said, they just need to bring those two personalities a little more in sync. 🤞🏽

Tho speaking ghosts, have we discussed the encounter in the apartment? Since it’s dramaland there has to be a connection.

I do hope that the more fantastic elements--the animatronic cat, the special well, the dreamlike visuals and sounds--make it all the way through this drama and don't end when the serial killer part takes over. I appreciate the magical tone--like when Mi-jin uses that tiny lantern in the used book store (as you do, I guess??).

That a younger-seeming soul expresses itself in an older body (and vice versa) is a wonderful contrast to me. After all...sometimes it feels on the inside very different than what it looks like on the outside.

I forgot to mention earlier that yes, I loved that magical, lamp in a bookstore scene. It’s as if they’d entered a forest of books under the lamplight and he pushed away a stack on the floor to make sure she didn’t trip on the undergrowth.

It was also a wonderful way to use setting to develop character (in multiple ways).

Who knew this show would also have a long, intense crime scene? O.O"

I'm particularly enthralled by Lee Jung Eun in this spunky, funny role. She was endearing and amazing throughout! Her joy at getting the job, her upbeat dancing, her swearing lol, her speedy biking. Everything was gold!

I feel like I haven't seen Choi Jin Hyuk in a while, especially in a romance so I'm looking forward to his swoony scenes. He totally aced the crime mystery and action scenes too!

Actually, I haven't seen all three leads in years. The single drama I've seen Jung Eun Ji in was Reply 1997 (2012 haha!). I didn't warm up to Mi Jin's character much. It was only when she had a personal, insightful moment in the bookstore that I felt like I could relate in a way.

The background music was varied and at times, jarring and loud. The contrasting tones in the last scene of EP 2 was also jarring. The scary hunt and violence was unexpected. Still, I was hooked when Ji Woong was chasing the killer.

I knew the victim wouldn't make it, being that she was the first one the viewers see and also because the culprit is a serial killer. It irked me that they dragged the scene and showed the multiple times she had almost escaped.

I hope the mystery and resolution is executed better in this show. The humor was pretty good. Cracked up at the mocking of the different hire types. One of them is a former cop so it would be cool to have a ragtag team doing some investigating.

I totally think the new hires will have their own "solve a mystery" arc and bring their individual strengths to the "investigation". 🤣

I'm particularly enthralled by Lee Jung Eun in this spunky, funny role. She was endearing and amazing throughout! Her joy at getting the job, her upbeat dancing, her swearing lol, her speedy biking. Everything was gold!

She is a joy to watch.

Thank you for the 📅🌆 recap @Unit. Hope you have fun with this one. We promise to tag along for the ride serial killer et all. I love your Mr. Queen call out. While a supernatural element was always expected, especially with the cat in the drama title, the serial killer took me by surprise. I'm getting major Tunnel vibes.

Straight off - I love, love, love the FL. Mi-jin has my heart in both her avatars. I missed the fact that the cat belonged to her aunt Im Soon.

The falling in his arms trope never gets old. Just missing the accidental kiss part. 🤣🙃😍

The evil vampire from Heartbeat looks so different I had to google him to find out who he is. Uri Junho can't catch a break can he. As if naming random MLs after his "real" name was not enough even his on-screen names are being poached. 🙄 Tut, tut.

Anywho, this drama shows great promise as long as it is in the Prosecutor's office or night duty with Mi-jin. I can surely ffwd the serial killer scenes and hope the ToD catches him sooner than later.

Hwaiting!!

Alternative for small town vibe we could have the drunk farmer from Crash and his machine run the killer over or mangle him in the equipment. Did anyone else find it strange that there is no laws related to being drunk in charge of farm equipment even if it is on the open road😲

I looked up the guy playing the idol too! Haha
That dude really does have idol looks haha. I think he has distinctive lips & eyes so he always looks familiar even though I don't know him.

So after I don't know how many Lee Junho's, now it's an idol named Go Won?? I would laugh if it didn't also include King Land, drug use, probation, and forced enlistment. It's about time JYP Entertainment complains...

That scene was so well acted, I was waiting for them to notice and fully expected the mum to think the dad had some fancy woman on the side who was taking liberties coming into their house🤣 The telling him off on the phone call on the bus was my other favourite scene as it was something I could see me doing and then having to deal with the shame when realising my mistake, priceless😳

I loved the phone call on the bus too. Reminded me of an episode many years ago on the Tube. Woman absolutely let rip at her other half on the phone for a solid 10 mins of swearing. Hung up. The most frigid of British silences descended before one passenger icily commented, "There are children here...". She spent the next 20 mins apologising profusely to each passenger. Shame was real... :)

Well people don't want pure fluff, they don't want angst or too much drama and definitely not a serial killer/murder subplot in a rom-com especially too many genres at once. But i didn't come here expecting anything as such to me i am used to it so much it doesn't matter. Er besides the point. Anyway it's an okay show so far.

Very good observation about the mixed bag if genres. I'm here for the three leads and just hope it remains okay watchable till the end. 😊🙏

I'm following this, too. I love the ajummah-FL. I love the ML's casual-arrogant air mixed with discreet kindness. It's like he, too, is two persons?
Do you think he will fall in love with both versions of FL and feel horribly conflicted? Or will he treat them super differently, asking for advice with ajummah and being arrogant with the younger version?
I have giffed two moments on my wall.

I have a feeling this drama might swing in perspective of other beanies. I loved the first episode and hate watched the second. I am all for crime in my rom coms, but this feels like a risotto with bad cheese. As of now. Especially as it's difficult to go past the entire Ko=Won fiasco. Did JunHo turn down this project or something?

I like the ajummah FL so much more though. She is adorable.

And because she is a day time switch, I guess we will get to see her a lot more. Seeing a middle age woman in a lead role is fabulous, though I know it won't go the Shrek way.

The Shrek way! That could be quite fun, i.e. if they ended up middle aged, both of them.
Or middle aged in the day, young at night . (Insert face emoji with one eyebrow winking up and down a few times).

I know right! If they could pull that off, it would really be something to watch out for ❤️

I wonder who would fit that role....I do not know many of the senior actors but I am sure there are a lot of cool ones out there.

Some could be sweet, like the mature FL, but it would need to be a tall, lean man with greying hair. And not the guy from Hello Monster though he usually plays "attractive grown-up generation" person. Because hi sface is too different from young ML.

2

I was thinking - the actor who played the King in Matchmakers could be a good choice.

You are absolutely right, Minnie.

"Our daughter does not have a pot belly."

I burst out laughing. It's hard not to like something this ridiculous. And I laughed and snorted all the way through the first episode.
Then came the second episode. The second half of the second episode tossed me out of this drama exactly the way the car slammed into something and tossed those papers and that clip...this feels like I signed up for something and am watching something else.

By the way, do we now have the cat from Heartbeat change colour and time travel? It even brought the resident evil vampire along with it.
My smile turned into a look of disbelief when I saw the names - Ko Won? King Land? Is this some sort of twisted tribute to the real-life bandmate of our resident adorable vampire? The creators of this drama certainly have a unique sense of humour.

Or should I say, twisted?

Drugs and probation? Please sign me up for the beanies who want to sue.

Also, the ML is leaving me quite unmoved. His umbrella has more personality, but of course, it stands no chance before our Prince Cha-min's companion.....

Is this going to go down as a great first episode of a bad drama?

Oh! I forgot to mention about Mi Jin's age. Why did people keep thinking she was older than she said she was? Does she look older and I'm just not seeing it?
She's 28, they round up to 30
The actress is like 30 (I think)

But the way she's treated in the show would have you thinking she's 45 and has no value left in anyway

Which I guess is suppose to be the point since when she turns into a 40 something, she's considered an awesome "senior"

I don't see it either. But I imagine they see her defeatedness, so that she feels old.

I thought she must've had on makeup that aged her when she was in the period costume but then it was like a running gag that people kept aging her up.

When the reveal of an active murderer happened, it made me chuckle because I thought "wow, there really *is* a murderer in all shows nowadays, huh" haha

It doesn't bother me in particular but it's interesting that that is like checklist point haha

I assume both versions of Mi jin is gonna end up on the killer's radar, probably for different reasons.

Unit, thanks for the recap ! I have watched Ep1 . I do like the lead’s chemistry . I like the ahjumma persona .
Serial killer ⁉️😑🙄😵‍💫 **sigh**☹️
Magic Cat ⁉️😵‍💫😣 Cat Magic is currently at 0-2 on my scorecard, this might be a 3rd strike ?
I dunno , my luv for Jung Eun -Ji might not be enough for 16 episodes ⁉️ I thought 10-12 was the new thing.
I will try Ep2
Will there be a drunk karaoke scene ? (Looks for Drama Bingo Card)
Will Eun-Ji sing ? 🎤
K dramas should have characters sing , not in all shows obviously, but it works for some. Wishful hoping there.

The magic of this show is Lee Jung-eun. I've seen her play a lot of unlikeable adjummas on the small screen. This time, she's playing a peppy, emotional young woman and she's fantastic! She completely makes me believe that she's 28. (Also, Lee Jung-eun is, in real life, a couple years younger than I am, and that's insane. She played a lady who pretended credibly to have dementia in When the Camellia Blooms, and she was only 49! What.)

We are so spoiled when we watch these, let's be honest, ridiculous stories starring these amazing actors.

Loved this recap!! Does anyone feel like there is a hint of roman-à-clef with the Ko Won character? He reminds me of Lee Junho from 2pm- he's from a band called "King Land" almost the name of LJH's Netflix drama last year and the Ep.4 teaser has Ko Won leaning out of his convertible shouting "ajumma!" looking exactly like LJH's character Gu Won from King the Land.

@unit Thanks for the recaps! I like all three leads, but unfortunately Lee jung Eun's version of the FL is not sticking with me. I don't see anything wrong with her mannerisms, but it doesn't jibe with Eun Ji's version of the FL. The plot does have interesting things going on like the team of senior trainees can band together for mystery capers, but so far it is going down the regular route.
