A Frankly Speaking Go Kyung-pyo spells mayhem for Kang Hanna
by tccolb
New teasers have hit the airwaves for JTBC’s rom-com Frankly Speaking (previously No Secrets), where chaos explodes for our truth-bombing announcer Go Kyung-pyo (D.P. 2) while variety writer Kang Hanna (Red Heart) seizes the ratings opportunity for her show.
Opening on our hero’s backstory, we learn in the first teaser that Song Ki-baek (Go Kyung-pyo) is the man who has it all, having a good family, good personality, and competent in his work. That is, until one fateful day when Ki-baek is suddenly struck with the inability to stretch the truth, and the serene look in his eyes becomes a little crazed.
But try as he might, Ki-baek struggles to bite his tongue, sputtering to his superior that, “I re…re…spect you – not. I’m really… annoyed.” Naturally, Ki-baek is unceremoniously told to scram – only to then run for his life from a screaming mob that he also somehow offends. The sequence then ends with Ki-baek worrying in earnest about his job: “Will I be able to deliver the news? In this state?”
In the next teaser, the focus turns to our heroine Ohn Woo-joo (Kang Hanna) in the midst of a crisis with a no-show cast member on her variety program Running Brothers, which is also in danger of cancellation from the network. While brainstorming with her team, Woo-joo’s spidey senses start to tingle when Ki-baek appears on TV. But when she arranges a meeting, Ki-baek is dismissive, explaining his preference to report on the truth in a meaningful way.
We then of course cut to Ki-baek on Running Brothers. However, even Woo-joo is surprised by the extent of Ki-baek’s unfiltered and hilariously petty antics, ranging from “Your feet stink” to “I’m going to get revenge.” Woo-joo starts to wonder, “Is it possible for someone’s personality to change after an electric shock?” But before she can dwell on such thoughts, a panicking Ki-baek causes more trouble by climbing the rocky cliffs, and the teaser ends as both of our leads fall into the water below.
Directed by PD Jang Ji-yeon with writing by Choi Kyung-sun, JTBC’s Frankly Speaking will be premiering next month on May 1.
