My Demon: Episodes 1-2

My Demon dares to ask the question we’ve all been waiting for: what happens when a literal demon meets the modern-day corporate hellscape — and winds up hopelessly entangled with a devil in Hermès? So far, the answer is, an enemies-to-lovers romp of utter hilarity!

EPISODES 1-2

My Demon: Episodes 1-2

JUNG GU-WON (Song Kang) is a demon whose MO covers all the classics: uncanny magical powers at the snap of a finger, devil-may-care swagger, and an all-consuming yen for human souls. His is a textbook Faustian pitch — he’ll grant unlimited power for a very limited time, only to send you to hell via heart attack in exchange. That said, there’s more to our demon than meets the eye. Holy water doesn’t hurt him. Next to black leather and a sardonic grin, crosses are his favorite accessory. He’s been wheeling and devilishly dealing since at least late Joseon, but it’s hinted that he once was human.

As for our heroine? DO DO-HEE (Kim Yoo-jung) is more than a match for our fiend, in both ruthlessness and flair. She’s the glitzy princess of the Mirae Group, in charge of the award-winning Mirae F&B. Miranda Priestley, eat your heart out! Heads are about to roll when Do-hee learns about a recent article lamenting the sugar content of her company’s flagship drink. This hatchet piece has to be an inside job. However, her warpath is interrupted when the formidable MADAM JU (Kim Hae-sook), Chairwoman of Mirae, demands that she go on a blind date.

My Demon: Episodes 1-2

As a serial heartbreaker and chronic workaholic, Do-hee is not really one for warm and fluffy feelings. However, when she’s accidentally brought to the wrong ritzy restaurant, she’s confronted by our demon… in one of the most memorable of meet-ugly moments I’ve ever cackled at. It’s mutual disdain at first sight. Do-hee is appalled at his arrogance, Gu-won is aggressively confused, and both thinks the other is utterly unhinged. Jeez, can’t a demon book out a whole restaurant to consume an entire birthday cake on his own in peace?

Well, not without considerable misunderstanding. Earlier, Gu-won collected on the soul of a crime boss; now, the guy’s flunkies are back for revenge. The cake goes flying smack in the direction of Do-hee’s head. She’s romantically whisked out of the way by Gu-won, who’s unable to stand any harm to his beloved… erm, dessert. But as it turns out, today is Do-hee’s birthday — and he seemingly bought her cake! She flees to the bathroom in order to a) touch up her lipstick, b) blush, and c) cycle through all six stages of grief at being attracted to the deranged, sugar-loving hottie currently beating up ten gangsters unbeknown to her.

Alas, her acceptance is short-lived. By the time she returns, Gu-won — fresh in mourning for his cake — snaps at her. Why would he care about her birthday? Hurt, Do-hee resumes her ice princess act. If we ever meet again, she says, be sure to show more manners. I don’t want people thinking you’re my ex.

But Do-hee’s got more on her mind than a botched romance. She’s neck-deep in a succession crisis. Do-hee’s parents died long ago in a car crash, and she was taken in by Madam Ju — who vastly prefers the acerbic Do-hee to her own, more disappointing children. Needless to say, said children take slight issue with this. However, Do-hee’s relationship with Madam Ju is unexpectedly adorable, albeit not without its dysfunction. Do-hee receives an urgent text from her boss-slash-surrogate-mother, directing her to the hospital. Our girl collapses, weeping, over Madam Ju’s sleeping form… only for Madam Ju to sit up, crack an eyelid, and laughingly present her with a birthday cake.

The two proceed to mercilessly bicker, but it’s clear that this is a relationship built as much on love as emotional blackmail. Madam Ju is determined for Do-hee to begin living life, rather than just dwelling on her parents’ deaths — which of course, took place on Do-hee’s much-dreaded birthday. The reason she insists on the blind dates is so that Do-hee can find someone to be on her side! You always taught me, retorts Do-hee, to trust no one. Well, yes, admits Madam Ju. But loving someone means that even if they betray you, you’d understand. You’re that person for me. She gives Do-hee two rings: wear them both yourself, she insists, until you find someone.

Do-hee spends the rest of her birthday brooding on the beach. But when she calls for a cab, everything goes horribly wrong. The car stops. Her driver, a man with a strange, bloody rash on the back of his neck (Kim Seol-jin), lunges for her, telling her that she’s going to die. The reason? Ju Cheon-sook. Do-hee manages to evade his grasp, staggering away from the car. But mist and terrifyingly impractical heels make for a suboptimal escape. Do-hee finds herself trapped between her pursuer — and a dark, looming silhouette up ahead. Gu-won.

My life, reflects Do-hee, feels like it’s shrouded in mist. Is everyone around me a foe? Ultimately, all she can do is trust herself… and take a chance on a demon. She plunges towards Gu-won, calling for help. Sure, he says. But you need to make a deal. Don’t worry about the specifics for now. Do-hee, businesswoman to the core, snaps that signing an unknown contract would be crazy. But with her life at stake… sure, let’s be crazy!

Soon, her attacker’s body is flung against the windscreen. The road borders a river. Do-hee tries to hide behind the railings, but when she looks up, she meets Gu-won’s eyes. He offers her a hand. As she takes it, the tattoo of a cross on his wrist begins to glow. But then, the attacker — whom, evidently, was not as dead as he seemed — drives towards them. Gu-won snaps his fingers… only for nothing to happen. Our heroes are sent plummeting into the water.

Do-hee knows that if she tries to save Gu-won, they’ll both sink. And yet, in her last moments of consciousness, she clutches for his hand. His cross tattoo burns into nothingness — and reappears on her wrist. Mercifully, death by drowning is virtually unheard of in K-drama, with plunges underwater carrying a 1% fatality rate. Our heroes wake on the shore. Gu-won grabs Do-hee’s wrist, as a wave breaks dramatically over them both… only for Do-hee to pass out.

My Demon: Episodes 1-2

Do-hee comes to in hospital, under the uncharacteristically attentive gaze of her nightmare date. Turns out, Gu-won took her comment about politeness to heart. Now, he’s all gentle reassurances — until her bemused secretary leaves the room, at which point he’s all indignant wrist-grabbing. That, he snaps, is my tattoo. Do-hee’s eyes widen. What’s this tacky, drunken mistake doing on her skin? Clearly, the only answer is to get it lasered… or, maybe cover it up with a tasteful Pororo picture? Gu-won’s answering horrified expression is a thing of beauty.

Insults are flung. There’s an embarrassing sort of scuffle. Gu-won goes for her wrist again, Do-hee goes for a slap, and finds that it — doesn’t connect? At least, not until Gu-won drops her hand, at which point it connects super hard. Gu-won is left with a bright red handprint on his face, a newfound dread of animated penguins, and — most importantly — the utter absence of his demonic powers.

This is a serious concern. If Gu-won fails to collect on deals, then the punishment won’t be pretty: he’ll spontaneously combust. How long does he have? Unclear. But hey, even without magic, collecting on souls is easy — right? Erm… cut to Gu-won getting squashed like a bug by an entire Olympic wrestling team. Dragging a star athlete to hell with his bare fists was a tad ambitious. What’s a demon to do? Beat a deeply dignified retreat by hurling himself out the window, landing in trash, and throwing up two — still very dignified — middle fingers. He is a terrifying fiend from the abyss, he’ll have you know!

Even terrifying fiends need a little help from their friends. Gu-won has accidentally picked up two human companions, whom he spends most days cold-shouldering. The first is JIN GA-YOUNG (Jo Hye-joo), whose terrifying skill in traditional dance (swords included) is matched only by the intensity of her crush on Gu-won. Meanwhile, there’s his butler, PARK BOK-GYU (Heo Jung-do) who made a demonic deal not once, but twice in a past life. Turns out, the only thing worse than being a starving Joseon fisherman is being a small tteokbokki business owner. Hell is a breeze in comparison!

My Demon: Episodes 1-2

Gu-won dispatches Bok-gyu to spy on Do-hee, who’s under considerable pressure. Due to the article, Mirae F&B’s numbers are falling, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned about numbers from recapping this year’s drama Numbers, it’s that when numbers go down, this is bad. Do-hee swears to Madam Ju that she can handle this alone. Still, her would-be assassin’s words haunt her — is Madam Ju hiding something? Madam Ju insists she isn’t, but the confession she makes to her priest suggests otherwise. There’s something weighing on her conscience about Do-hee — something to do with a very incriminating flashback. A burning car. A smashed-up mobile phone, with a call from “my daughter Do-hee.” And Madam Ju, lying next to the wreckage, with her knee a mess of blood — an injury that pains her to this day.

Do-hee tracks down the originator of the damning article, NOH SU-AHN (Lee Yoon-ji), one of Madam Ju’s children. Blackmail is such an indelicate term. In this case, it’s also beautifully apropos. Do-hee has evidence that Su-ahn has not only been having an affair, but technically broke the law by getting intimate with her boyfriend in a public car park. It’s the stuff that stock crashes are made of — and Su-ahn has no choice but to back down.

It’s at this point that Do-hee receives a phone call. Gu-won would like to register a complaint. He’s been feeling dreadful since their accident. And he’s adamant that she see for herself. For want of any other plan, he’s opted to turn on the demonic charm. I’ve never felt like this before, he murmurs to Do-hee, when they meet. I feel like a different person. And — here, he touches her arm — you’re the reason for my symptoms.

Do-hee had intended to fob him off with cash (lots). It’s in a moment of weakness that she instead agrees to go on a drive with him. This, she immediately regrets, as he speeds past the Olympic team who’d previously wiped the floor with him. He takes Do-hee’s hand, aims a cheerful finger-gun at the athlete who’d made the deal with him… and watches in relish as his victim collapses, just as planned.

Do-hee has no idea she’s been accessory to a soul-harvesting. All she knows is that this date has some really weird vibes. Look, she’s not shocked by the fact that Gu-won takes them to a car park where one of the cars is, uh, rocking. She’s just skeptical about the location! And is Gu-won saying they can do it outside? That — that’s a crime! Gu-won laughs: since when did they criminalize a stroll by the river? Do-hee actually looks a little disappointed.

They go for the stroll. Gu-won moves in close enough to kiss, placing a hand behind her neck… and then, with a grin that can only be described as devilish, hurls them both into the river. Underwater, he clings to her wrist, willing his powers to return. But when they surface, nothing changes… beyond the fact that Do-hee is incandescently furious. She almost drowned today! There’s still someone out there trying to kill her, and — and what did she do wrong? With visible effort, she collects herself, plus, the envelope of cash. The latter, she throws at Gu-won’s feet. I owe you nothing, she says.

Damp and disconsolate, Do-hee begins a long trek home. She stops before a news screen: Mr Cha, a financial chief, was found hanging in a public bathroom. Little does she know, he’s another victim of her would-be killer. He’d tried to contact her earlier, with information that could allegedly put her in charge of Mirae. As Do-hee’s back is turned, a motorcycle comes skidding towards her. Its rider hurls a flask of acid at her — but before it connects, someone throws himself in its path. It’s Gu-won. Cue end of episode.

My Demon: Episodes 1-2

Folks, I am having immense amounts of fun. Maybe it’s knowing we’re in the safe hands of one of the Mr. Queen writers, but this drama promises to be something special. The script is so tightly-written! The acting is absurdly good! Every episode finishes with two outrageously pretty people staring at each other soulfully as haunting music plays! In short, what’s not to love? This show promises some really interestingly woven relationships, and it really does make a difference how they’ve taken the time to build up the secondary characters — it makes the leads feel real. Our heroes’ chemistry is out of this world; all that fast-paced bickering is the setup for a slow-burn that has plenty of space to breathe.

One of my absolute favorite premises is where an overpowered supernatural character is stripped of their powers and made to suffer. There’s something glorious about arrogant, hyper-competent people having the rug pulled out from under them, and the beauty of this drama is that we get it twice. On the one hand, there’s our resident demon in distress. I adore the moments where Gu-won snaps a finger, fully expecting to resolve every single one of his problems, only for it all to come crashing down. But there’s also Do-hee, and her smorgasbord of trust issues! The ice princess, devil-in-designer-heels thing is hopelessly endearing. However, the joy of it is how we so frequently see her knocked off-kilter — just like Gu-won — and forced to reckon with her own (deeply-buried) hope for human connection. Both of our heroes are a little lost, and a little lonely… and they’d rather die than admit it. I cannot wait for the narrative to force them to!

I'm in!!

1. The leads. I like them a lot. They're not the nicest people on earth that will take everyone's punches with a smile, and they're not unnecessarily rude and annoyingly arrogant either. They're perfect in their own imperfect way (for me, of course).

I like how they're so similar sometimes. They have this spicy personality. The interactions during the "blind date" and the hospital scene where gold.
And Idk if it's normal or if the FL is secretly a romantic or what, but why does she thinks that he's always trying to make s move on her? I almost died when she kept talking to herself in the bathroom and her thoughts when he took her to the Han River... LMAO. Love her.

2. The relationships. I love Gu Won and his two human besties. They seem like a hilarious trio. And I love Do Hee with her halmoni and secretary. Both of them seem to care deeply for her. Even if halmoni did something wrong in the past and she feels guilty about that, we can see that her affection for Do Hee is sincere. I hope their relationship survives the problems they'll face in the future.

3. I love the humor. This is based on a webtoon and the adaptation was made by Mr Queen writer, so Idk if this is the magic of the writer I like or if the original source is this fun, but I just couldn't stop laughing! And thanks to the director and editor too. This show is totally my style.

I think I'll leave all the murder, secrets and rich people problems for later. I don't really care about the "power fight" or family mysteries. I find the SL's hippie parents more interesting than the "who's gonna be the next CEO" plot. So I'll probably ignore that for the first two or three weeks. I'm loving the fantasy tho, uri loan shark with a heart of gold, aka. demon, and his magic are fun.

Oh, everyone getting obsessed with Do Hee in those last few seconds of the episode was kinda scary. The show just started, all she did was exist and now people want to kill her? An attack from the competition? And even a jealous SFL? Dang. And yes, I don't like the SML already. What's with the "then I won't get married either"? LOL

These were all the bits that were highlights for me too!! The humour is really fun and I too like how similar they are. I also didn't know this was based on a webtoon, I had a feeling but Wikipedia didn't list it as an adaptation so thought I was wrong. I might go search up the original source now and give it a read between episodes!!

I don't read it while it runs because of the spoilers. I'm scared of them, hahaha.

But I think I'll be confused while watching Marry My Husband because I read most of the webtoon.

It's not an adaptation. The webtoon is released together with the drama. 2 chapters every week if I remember correctly.

So even if you read the webtoon now, there won't be that much spoilers.

Thanks for a great recap @alathe, I'm also having heaps of fun with this one - it was a cracking premiere and it definitely met the hype I had created for it.

The show overall is giving a blend of the best bits from Angles Last Mission , Tale of the Nine Tailed and also a bit of Doom at Your Service . Script is great, as is the cinematography and acting - say what you will about Song Kang but I think he's turning in a great performance so far, and I love that both him and KJY are playing characters that are different to their usual repertoire. I was expecting two cold and reserved characters, and instead we got sarcastic and sassy which I LOVE! I also really like that both characters are cut from the same cloth, which makes for electric chemistry but also a breath of fresh air from the usual.

Tonally, I really am a fan of the supernatural/fantasy/comedy mix we've got going here, and the way there's a darker and more sinister undercurrent that doesn't overwhelm but gives the more lighthearted parts an edge still. We've actually covered a fair decent amount of ground within two episodes and have pretty well established characters, including secondary ones. I've no notes or thoughts on the direction of the plot for future episodes right now, just here to enjoy the ride and make heart eyes at both Song Kang and Kim Yoo-jung 😍

Loved Sweet Home, dodged a bullet with Love Alarm because I read up on the ending. Would totally recommend Navillera though, it's a great story and SK was great in it with the grandpa too!

3

Thanks for the rec! I have Navillera on my watchlist but I always avoid it because I feel like it's gonna make me cry every single episode, and I'm not ready for that. 😆

2

Watch Navillera - this is the show that got me hooked on SK - but it's also a very very dear and good show. No one in the show was truly awful.
After that show I've watched everything else SK has done and I must admit this one is really fun. He's doing a good job.
And our FL is also great here. Just keep it up show!

5

I get that his character was a jerk in Nevertheless, but he was ok in Forecasting... and I like him. Other than that, I actually liked the humor. Baddies getting beaten up will never get old, so there's that. Kim Hae-Sook is another favorite of mine, so I am really enjoying this show. I have only seen Kim Yoo Jung in Clean with Passion..., I think she was a lot prettier in that, but she isnt bad at all, and I liked the way she acts. I am not into para normal stuff, but I think I will stick with this one for now. Lee Sang Yi is so cute, gushing over the way she put his tie together.
The powers transferred to Do Hee when she was selflessly trying to save him while risking her own life, so I think he will have to do something similar to get them back, just jumping into water and holding hands wont do it, IMHO

I think people generally have aversion to new comers, especially pretty faces/idols unless they pull in incredible acting skills. I fall in the above category because continuing a show just for visuals would not be my first priority (although I can acknowledge and appreciate beauty). I also can't tolerate bad acting especially when these pretty people are cast as leads over exceptional actors who got sidelined to play supporting characters.

So, all it takes is just one character that is apt for these actors to get the audience to warm up to them. I dropped "Love Alarm", "Nevertheless" in Ep 2 or 3 and did not watch "Sweet Home" or "Navillera", so "Forecasting Love and Weather" was the drama where I found is acting passable. He is showing ability to improve like Rowoon, but their companies will always keep promoting them based on their visuals.

In the first 10 minutes, Bok-Gyu giving the middle finger (recently poked for blood) to Gu-Won and yelling "Bok-Gyu, Bok-Gyu!" I'm sure my neighbors heard me laugh! I hate it when the show starts sweet and then unexpectedly gets dark, but this show made it clear from the start that it was funny and dark. I'm trusting the writer of Mr. Queen!

I am wondering with so many KDs being produced now (whether or not this situation is sustainable in the long run is a vital question for another time), a number of female and male actors including the venerable Kim Haesook are being over-exposed and exposed. She is a formidable actor but imo, to see an actor so often in roles takes the anticipation away. I know it is financially lucrative but as a viewer, it becomes boring after awhile.

Required fields are marked *

I agree. Not that I’m watching this show, but actors can benefit from having projects with some intervals apart. Case in point, the same KHS. She is formidable, maybe that’s why having seen her too often makes it a bit underwhelming. I saw her in Start-Up, Hospital Playlist, the one she plays a goddess or something, and here and there. I think because she kind of has this special vibe around her, and because she often takes diverse roles, she gets noticed easily. So I think it’s better for actors like her to have projects with some intervals.

Actors like Kim Mi-kyung, on the other hand, seem to take similar roles and I don’t mind finding her be a mother of someone in the shows I was watching. I guess it’s because the roles were similar, and she seems to be able to “blend in” more with the cast, it didn’t appear to me that this was something I disliked even when many of her projects were airing at the same time.

I think there are quite a few kdramas that have already been filmed and are awaiting air times.

I wonder if it will end up like with cdramas. Sometimes you don't see a person for awhile because their dramas didn't get air dates and then suddenly a bunch of the dramas they're in happen to get air dates and then, they're on constantly. It becomes difficult for the actors to manage the amount of exposure they want.

13
reply

Required fields are marked *

This is good question.
I think kdramaland has always played with the same starts, but there was always some kind of break? I think I'm the past we would see Kim Won Hae for example, like three times in a year, but it wasn't at the same time.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like since now we have so many shows on air at the same time, and some are pre-produced the same faces are attacking us everywhere. And having multiple seasons of dramas is probably not helping.

We're gonna see Song Kang again in Sweet Home this Friday. Maybe they filmed the show a year ago Idk, but they're dropping it now and I'm gonna have to deal with the double SKang. Hahaha.

The same happened earlier this year to Kim Dong Wook.

I hope we get some more faces next year. And are all men in the military or taken a break? Why do I feel like I've seen just like 5 actors the whole year? 😂😂 Jk.

I only get annoyed when subsequent/simultaneously airing dramas have the same actor to play a baddie/villain.

The trailers promised visuals and my God they are serving VISUALS! YooJung and Song Kang are gorgeous humans and their styling here makes them even more stunning. The whole show is so pretty to look at. And thankfully, the drama is quite engaging too. I can't quite feel the chemistry between DoHee and GuWon as yet, but I also didn't feel like fast forwarding any part of the two episodes.

It's interesting that DoHee felt an immediate attraction to GuWon but he remained indifferent to her charms. Poor girl kept making a fool of herself around him! She was even down for making out in the car and he pushed her in the river instead 😄

Seems like the contract wedding will happen as soon as next week. Now that DoHee has fallen first, I look forward to watching GuWon fall harder!

The first time they met he just wanted to eat his cake, while she was thinking that was a blind date. And the second time she thought he was hitting on her while he was too busy trying to get his powers back. But the second he starts focusing, I'm sure he'll fall for her. 😏

I felt like the first episode was very clunky, except for Kim Hae-sook's awesome savagery and the funny Bok-gyu/middle finger scene against the Joseon setting. I'm glad I watched it on Sat so was immediately able to give episode 2 a chance right away. Ep 2 from hospital scene onwards was much better. Everything was just snappier, funnier, and felt more natural. I'm a bit on the fence so I hope episode 3 will be good.

I think it's hilarious how Gu-won scammed (ahem make a deal with) the same soul twice. Also, how awkward. I'm glad it worked out for the best.

I really like how Do Hee is really quite cold or warm. She's either depending on whom she's dealing with. Love how Do Hee can throw down a white envelope of enough cash that can make a demon tremble.

Extra point for having an unromantic OTP underwater in episode 2.

Also the Jung/Kang brothers' mom (from Castaway Diva) is Do-hee's secretary here!

Thank you for the recap alathe, here's hoping it remains fun for you to recap over the long run.
It certainly looks very promising.
I haven't seen the leads in anything before and although they are both very pretty, if they can't act, looks can only keep the show afloat for so long. So far, so good, they are both doing a great job with their characters.
Loving the banter between them and definitely the snark factor, the quality of the writing is strong.
I'm here for the fun and can only hope the darker, serial killer plot line resolves sooner than later.

I am inclined to forgive crimes against hair if I like the acting/actor. Junho in JBL is exhibit one but I thought it suited his character, he was cute and I loved him in that role. I'm surprised by the rave reviews. I was expecting instant sexual chemistry between Song Kang and Kim Yoo-jung as they're both beautiful people, but instead got bad acting and unfunny humor. With Song Kang, bad acting is expected, but even Kim Yoo-jung was unconvincing as a haughty CEO. I did like the dynamic between our demon, his butler, and dancer fangirl, but I guess I'll be watching for Lee Sang-yi. In the murderous family sword dancing montage, it would be a great twist if Seok-hoon turns out to be a villain too. Gu-won's mullet is the ugliest hairstyle.

Consensus is when everyone in a group shares the same opinion or position. Opinions here about his acting - in general and in this show - seem to be all over the place.

He is not the worse, but I don't remember comments on others of his dramas where someone defended his good acting. It seems to me that he is praised for being ok. But I can be mistaken, and I have not read all that was written about him - far from it.

2

I’ve never considered Song Kang even as okay actor, but in this one he is fun and interesting to watch. I see an upgrade there. Kim Yoo Jung on other hand, I agree with you. Her delivery feels forced. It wasn’t coming out naturally. While watching I could see that she is acting.

The first two episodes were pretty.

I like KYJ in this role, she's not completely cold but professionnal. I like her relationship with her grandma (who clearly has a part of responsability in her parents death) and her assistant.

I don't think comedy suits Song Kang, he doesn't look very natural and his voice sounds boyish and not really threating for a demon. His job sounds more like the Devil job than a simple demon that comes with a notice...

I'm waiting for the fake marriage, sharing house, etc tropes!

Not a fan of Song Kang, to be honest, but he seems to be killing it in this role (so far). Him and Kim Yoo-Jung are gonna keep each other on their respective toes for sure and I like this type of pairing especially with a FL who gives as good as she gets haha! She is leading him on a merry dance and this is awesome.

But why O' why another potential serial killer storyline? UGH!

On a separate note:

I really, REALLY like Do-Hee's stylish white blouse - the one she wore to the botched blind date. That is so my jam (I have 2 such blouses but not in white. White blouses and mealtimes don't get along in my world LOL!).

What a pretty show. The styling of both leads is very nice. I wish I could pull off that fluffy white shirt too. When I saw the repeat of the water circle at the beach in the 2nd episode I thought to myself why not use such a pretty image considering how much you paid for that CGI. I am sure we’ll see in flashbacks too.

I am enjoying how confident and arrogant both leads act but there are breaks in their facades. I also like that the FL is totally aware of how handsome the ML is rather than being totally unaffected. It was funny how flustered she was when she thought he wanted to make out in the car. I like that she didn’t do the indignant slap in the face but was anticipating it until she thought he wanted to do it outside.

I've only seen Song Kang in FLAW where I made the decision to bypass anything he's in if they're gonna be selling his visual value and his acting remains stale. So far so good, I can say he's improved here to the point where I can watch him without zoning him out of my screen.

Kim Yoo-jung hasn't aged since Lovers of the Red Sky. She got demon eyes in LOTRS, and she gets a demon tattoo in My Demon🙃.

What's the secret Halmoni Ju is hiding? I'm sure it's her parent's death but what exactly about it. I hope she made no deal with Gu-won.

That ending sequence for episode 2. Did almost all of the key figures go high on the same plant? Even the one who increases Halmoni's wealth.

The subs translated that Ju Chun-sook sent the assassin, but I'm sure the subs read wrong and its actually Ju Seok-hoon cause Ju Chun-seok is Almighty Ju. But then, I clearly heard Ju Chun-seok. I'm guessing whoever the killer is is saying that the reason she's dieing is because of all favor she's getting from Halmoni Ju.
I don't know if this people forget that Do-hee's father is a founding member of the company at its beginning so she does have her own legit share in the company.

The characters I'm loving - Do-hee, Halmoni Ju, Gu-won. Coming next is Secretary Shin and Park Bok-gyu.

I'm not into the SFL's character. But I must say that I'm awed by her sword dance. It is graceful.

All the laughter in the miscommunications were just perfect. It was so much fun.

Currently watching My Demon and I'm now halfway through episode 2. It's the last day of November tomorrow so if nothing really hooked me until the last of episode 2 I might drop this drama. Seriously the only thing that was keeping me watching the drama is because how good looking the main leads are. There is a lot of potential they can work on with those beautiful faces but watching this drama is not easy. I will say it's kinda boring for me and Yoojung is so pretty but there's something lacking in her acting especially with the funny scenes. I can't help but think of other actresses who will nail her role. Also I can't help but compare Song Kang with Seo In Guk with his role in Doom at Your Service and Song Kang only excels in his good looks to be honest. I need more. More from them both

At first I only intended to skip watch this one while keeping an eye on the recaps. But the abundance of contract marriage dramas in this cycle made me curious enough to watch one properly. From the recaps, this seemed to be the most outrageous one. I like that My Demon has perfect balance between humor and more serious moment, lots of heart fluttering moment between two very gorgeous people, and just a sprinkle of thriller to spice things up. I'm glad to know that the drama is even more entertaining than the already fun recap, so hopefully they maintain it until the last eps.

I'm liking the dysfunctional support system both of our leads have already. The way they cared for them under the veneer of needling, and also how everyone was a little bit quirky (Do-hee's secretary immediately caught my attention with her stoic face and cool attitude), or unhinged (when it comes to the potential villains of this story). The acting is very good, which was a huge point for me. Everyone is embodying their respective character so well I have no complaint whatsoever.

Also, that well-timed outburst after Do-hee and Gu-won's second almost-drowning was definitely my favorite moment from this week eps. It was the first time she showed some real emotion to other person, and even Gu-won was rattled by that display despite his best effort to play it cool. I like that the stake is already high for both of our leads. High stakes in a romance drama usually means potentially dramatic feats of love, and I'm here for that.

Tonally, the TV series is all over the place. Is it fantasy? A corporate drama? A comedy? The problem with K-dramas, this one including, is that it's incoherent. Few were able to get over it by drawing you in with the story, and even thought the story here is interesting (actually, probably the only thing that's interesting), My Demon relies too much on fancy fast editing and cinematography and these beautiful manga imagery and "cool" poses and places, instead of coherent story and character-building. Nothing new in Kdrama world. It's just...boring. I am still watching it because the premise is interesting, the actors are eye-candy, the jokes are funnish and the cinematography is stunning. But oh lord, can you please slow down with that jarring fast editing?! My eyes hurt.

Me coming in here thinking the same - it’s adorable. This is my first drama with this lead actor and I dont have any aversion to him so far; his acting is nothing spectacular but it’s not bad either. It helps that his role is funny and sarcastic. But I keenly remember the actor was in Nevertheless (which I thankfully did not watch but was appalled by simply from the sidelines via recaps) which notably traumatized many innocent viewers and I’m thinking that’s it. I hated Han So Hee for a while after that drama but started loving her again after Your Name. It’s unfortunate but dramas and roles thereof can have a lasting impact.

Hi folks! Not sure why this drama has such low ratings but the acting, humour, and story so far are so good that I’m actually impressed. I went in thinking it was gonna be some mindless twilight cheesy shiz but it’s solid! I’ve followed Kim Yoo Jung since childhood and loved her for so long…I’ve just always thought she was cast with actors who look way too old for her as she was peaking into her adult career. But damn if I thought her acting was good in Moonlight Drawn by Clouds, she is killing it here. She and her adopted mother/chairwoman carried this drama for some time and now her chemistry with the demon dude is kicking off. Her chemistry with the demon (sorry forgot his name) is fire - like sparks are flying. But its also full of silliness so it doesn’t take itself too seriously. Really glad I found something this cute and looking forward for what’s to come.
