Kim Yoo-jung and Song Kang become lovers in My Demon

Promotions continue for SBS’s upcoming fantasy romance My Demon with a new batch of posters and teasers of its leads. Starring Kim Yoo-jung (Lovers of the Red Sky) as heiress Do Do-hee and Song Kang (Forecasting Love and Weather) as demon Jung Gu-won, this unlikely couple becomes entangled in a contract marriage — but whether their union will bring salvation or ruin is yet to be seen.

The tarot-inspired posters depict Do-hee and Gu-won in all black for “the devil” card and in all white for “the lovers” one. Keeping in line with their unconventional romance, the posters hint at the uncertain nature of their relationship, and raises the question of whether or not the marriage will end well for our prickly heroine and her dangerous demon companion.

As for the two teasers, both Do-hee and Gu-won start off without paying much heed to love, but as they come in contact with each other, the tone shifts. For Do-hee’s teaser, she claims to be uninterested in men but loses her train of thought as Gu-won comes into focus. Smitten with his looks, she calls him childish and proceeds to list his contradictory characteristics.

In Gu-won’s teaser, he searches for his next target like a pawn in a chess game, but when he grabs Do-hee, it suddenly turns into a game of rock-paper-scissors. He admits to feeling nervous around her and threatens to harm anyone (including Do-hee) if they so much as touch a hair on her wrist.

Though not shown in the teasers, also appearing in the show are Lee Sang-yi (Han River Police) and Jo Hye-joo (The Secret Romantic Guesthouse) as the second leads Joo Seok-hoon and Jin Ga-young, respectively. As for the conglomerate side of things, Kim Hae-sook (Strong Girl Nam-soon) will play the CEO of Mirae group, which Do-hee is in line to inherit.

Written by Choi Ah-il (Mr. Queen) and directed by PD Kim Jang-han (You Raise Me Up, Do You Like Brahms), SBS’s My Demon premieres on November 24 in the weekend slot following 7 Escape: War for Survival.

Someone said King the Land trailers looked like a perfume advert and I say this looks like a music video shoot, lol

Not just the trailers re: King The Land. Many sequences in the drama were like an extended MV or perfume ad😂😂

Not to mention the entire episode that was entirely PPL for an entire country. 😂

Are we sure the video is a promo for the show itself and not a tie-in fashion magazine shoot?

I like the look of these posters and would love to see the drama live up to their fluffy-yet-mysterious vibes. The existence of a chaebol-related element doesn't bode well, though, even if it is the always terrific Kim Hae-sook.

As long as the only resemblance to King the Land remains the tone of the teaser, I'm safe. The extended chaebol cast terrifies me as well, but maybe I can tolerate it slightly more if it's Kim Hae-sook (deluding myself).

All true blue dyed in the wool K-drama addicts watchers are somewhat delulu, or they won't be watching K-dramas otherwise. 😂

Kim Hae-sook is busy.
I'll give this a four episode trial, for the writer, and Kim Hae-sook. And, i want to unwatch Lovers of the Red Sky from my memory so I'm hoping this is it.

So one poster is dark and slightly edgy and the other is light and cutesy. Both leads are insanely beautiful and I like what Iittle I’ve seen Kim Yoo Jung in but...

hmmn, I have a feeling that the sentiment we’ll have at the end of this drama will be “sigh...wasted potential”. It’s giving ‘not gutsy enough’ vibes. I hope I’m proved wrong.🤞🏾

Hmm, interesting take on posters with contrasting vibes. But doesn't it feel like the poster for Master’s Sun.

I actually really like both the posters and teasers. I am almost certainly setting myself up for immense disappointment, but I will fool myself for now! Sometimes a girl needs delusions to get through the day.

I don't think kdrama's know what romance is anymore.

The more the merrier (or sadder but at least we're sad together hahaha) but also tell me about it - is a simple romance that hard??? 😭

As a layperson who isn't a kdrama writer, I would think romance is pretty straightforward. All they need to do is keep it simple, really simple and not get caught up in so much other crap.
Just follow this definition -"Romance or romantic love is a feeling of love for, or a strong attraction towards another person, and the courtship behaviors undertaken by an individual to express those overall feelings and resultant emotions."
It's not rocket science.

According to screenwriters, yes. Although I imagine the lack of Koreans actually falling in love and dating irl has an impact. Not a lot of time to date if you’re working 16 hrs a day for (relative) pennies. Serial killers are probably more realistic to imagine than a date actually working out.

This is why they need to hire ME, an idiot with her head in the clouds who can make any weird encounter into a romcom in her delusions. If only I spoke and wrote Korean. And was ethnically Korean. Doubt foreign screenwriters are in big demand for local tv shows.

I think it's the same thing afflicting the west where people think romance is boring by itself. Which it absolutely ISN'T, romance is to me one of the most interesting things out there if it's done right (therein lies the rub)

5

Full steam ahead for the support circle! We just want a regular, normal romance where two people (or a demon) fall in love and love things ensue - not corporate politics, unnecessary breakups or serial killers. Please for the love of the drama gods let this one be good for all 16 episodes.

King the Land was an extended PPL shoot, not a drama.

@ladynightshade

I have seen actual PPLs which are way better. Cue plug for 7 First Kisses which is in no way a "real" drama but a promotional series by a duty free shop. Go figure!
But it is howlarious (hilarious, doesn't seem enough to describe that) and much much more "wow" than any of these so called "real" dramas put together.
There are only 8 episodes of about 10 minutes each. The sheer star power of the cast will have you fainting.
Go watch. You can thank me later. 🤩

I can't take my eyes off the posters omg, these two are STUNNING. I knew they were before but together wowwww. I sat through Nevertheless and Lovers of the Red Sky for Song Kang and KYJ respectively, so I can do anything at this point - can't wait for this to air!

That sounds like the wise thing to do - sometimes, inexplicably, I sit through dramas that I'm ???? 😐 about for no good reason 🤷‍♀️ or in the case of Red Sky anyways, I kept holding out hope that things would magically turn around in the writing till the very last minute 🤡 Nevertheless...gave me feels, but not all of them good and very much all over the place 😂

Is this just going to be Heartbreak take 2?
I feel so jaded by kdramas labelling their shows romance and they have been tainted by so much other crap they are anything but.
Please be the one exception for the year that features true, good, old fashioned romance and makes us swoon.
Hwaiting.

So, who's gonna tell them that The Lovers card does NOT mean fluffy sugary romance that they are suggesting with those posters? In fact, it very rarely means anything romantic at all. The use of The Devil to portray "evil but hot demon ML" is pretty questionable as well - unless he's meant to do way worse things to FL than just fake-to-real marrying her. Ah well, guess I should be happy that those extra creative minds didn't do the most common Tarot-related mistake by horribly misinterpreting The Death one...
