While others were initially complaining about the show for not following formula rom-com tropes in their proper order I was liking the show *precisely* for not following formula rom-com tropes in their proper order. I liked how it held onto the break-up theme as tenaciously as a dog with a bone. Then we come to the inevitable fate all of pleasantly original K-dramas, from 'Sh**ting Stars' to 'Business Proposal' to 'Oh My Baby' - the dreaded two final episode curse.

Definitely agree! I was excited for the first half because it was different and I was interested to see how the drama would wrap up the threads and themes in a fresh way. But yea....

Instead, I got to spend the last 2 episodes staring at the screen and questioning every turn the drama was taking. What a bummer!

Yoo Inna definitely kept me going - she's a delight to watch :) <3

I can’t recommend it. For many (maaaaaannny) episodes I watched to see what this “different” approach to rom com would produce. Only my love for Yoon Hyun Min and a morbid fascination to watch the train wreck made me finish (and, of course, the Bean). For me, it was more a study of immature characters in questionable relationships than a rom com.

The leads had a great chemistry. I defiantly did not like any second, third and fourth couples :) None of them had any chemistry and also logic! Last 2 episodes!!! I feel they cheated on us one more time in KD land! A pregnancy , a scary office couple and She Hyuk as a editor doesn't know how to approach someone who loves !!I think the writer, editor team were thinking their drama were being watched by mentally trouble people :)

Wasted potential. You had great leads with amazing chemistry but too much dragging over the breakup. Their flirting, banter and genuine respect & care for each other was genuinely sweet. I liked their character development, them moving on, gaining confidence, etc. I just wish more time was spent on that instead of watching Bora embarrass herself every week or cry herself into drunken catatonia.

Every other couple was a toxic mess. Which is fine, but the drama made it seem like these people all belong to each other, which is not the message the audience should be taking away - it's just bad writing.

Finally, the last 2 episodes were a trainwreck. it was just too rushed - characters make ridiculous decisions and plot lines come out of nowhere. They could have easily salvaged it by making the drama a full 16 episodes but ENA seems to prefer shorter episode counts.

Buyer beware, this product is not as labelled.
Rom com, pfft!, this show should be categorised as a melodrama. Considering the run time of 14 episodes, you would be lucky to see 15-20% of the show spent on any kind of variation of romance and even less time spent on the comedy which at times ventured into cringe territory. The majority of this show is spent dealing with the messy, deep (very deep) despair of breakups, literally hitting rock bottom and the ex still hasn't exited stage left in the final episode.
The two leads do have chemistry, there are two great episodes towards the end, where this is shown perfectly but unfortunately it also highlights how bad the other episodes are and what could have been. Yoo In na rocks but can't save this sinking ship. I'm sure there are many beanies like myself who only kept on watching because of her.

Should had been more of a slice of life rather than funny breezy rom com. I think most come here expecting it.

It was a bit rocky, but I do not mind the breakup show, because I was always bothered how quickly a character gets over someone. But this show did dragged the misery of a breakup 2 eps too long IMO , but honestly the main couple is the main reason I keep watching. The push and pull is believable.

Cant say the same for all the secondary couples. I get about unconventional romance/relationships, but it is handle in such a light way that this could had been better if its more slice of life. But the married friends did redeem themselves a bit.. (could had redeem them faster , show).

And I can't with the office romance. I think I dont approve of boss - employee romantic relationship so most of the time when their scenes comes up I will be like -_-

Eh but I just realized I wrote mostly of complaints, but apart from the rockiness, this drama is the drama I look forward too and Yoo In Na and Yoon Hyun Min have those warm fuzzy chemistry that I just love. Those 2 leads carry this show and if they decide to work together again, I am in! ( also wouldnt mind if Chansung came in as second lead again! He is kinda funny )

I had fun. And a bit sad its over.

This drama had some incredible bits and some not so great bits and I’m still trying to decide how I felt about it as a whole.

It’s definitely not for everyone. It spends a lot of time dealing with the breakups of the two leads, and the aftermath of these relationships are messy and complicated and at times pathetic, as only a catastrophic end to a long relationship can be. I honestly really liked the drama for depicting that journey in its entirety - often we get sanitized versions and this was certainly not that.

I also liked the building friendship our leads had for most of the drama. When they were having a vulnerable conversation, this drama really shone. They had reasonable disagreements and arguments, had mature talks to make up, made fools of themselves, helped each other out of sticky situations, and worked really well together.

Some folks didn’t like the secondary couples, but most of them worked for me also. Bo-mi and Jin-ho were cute and cringey and showed a couple just starting out, while Jin-u and Yoo-jeong were a married couple who had lost the magic of their romance, and Sang-jin and Su-jin were a divorced couple who had never really hashed out what had happened in their failed relationship. All of them were nice counterpoints to the budding relationship of our leads, and even though they were frustrating at times, on the whole I enjoyed each of their storylines. One thing I didn’t love on this front was that the show introduces a significant challenge to Bo-mi and Jin-ho in the penultimate episode, and even though it’s an interesting storyline, it felt too late in the drama to explore it in a meaningful way. This, however, pales in comparison to my hatred of a final loveline that is shoved into the last episode and is the weirdest, grossest, most imbalanced relationship I have ever had the misfortune to witness. *sigh*. Can’t win em all.

There were also things that I found puzzling about this drama. The ML’s main issue is that he finds it difficult to express himself and give validating feedback to the other person in the relationship. He ends up saying sweet things, but often in an oblique and indirect way, and his partner ends up confused or hurt by his ambiguity. That’s all well and good, and I think getting over that is a really sweet form of character growth. But it’s not at all clear from the drama why he is that way in the first place, and why it is a difficult thing for him to correct once he understands the problem. In the opening episodes, when he is blindsided by a breakup, everything makes sense, but in the later episodes, when he sits stoically across the table from the FL who is confessing her feelings to him, it makes less sense to me. I didn’t understand why he wouldn’t (couldn’t?) verbally reciprocate, knowing all the things he now knows.

I’m glad I watched this drama because there were things I wouldn’t have wanted to miss out on, but it will be one I go back and visit in clips and OST tracks...

I totally agree with everything you said in your review.
This drama could have been better, if I were the writer I would have taken different decisions for some characters, but I liked it and enjoyed it most of the time.

Didn't realize I got cut off! Should read:

it will be one I go back and visit in clips and OST tracks (Half & Half is forever stuck in my head and I’m not mad) rather than as a whole.

This drama has gotten a lot of hate and I believe it is unfair, but I understand it. If you are looking for a drama where the FL is a girl boss or a Overlooked secretary who is hard working but never given a chance until a rich guy comes to save her, this drama is not for you.

This drama is about a bunch of cringey people doing cringey things and at the end they get together because that is what the drama gods demand. If you think cringey people are annoying, you will be annoyed by this drama. If you think cringey things are really funny, you will like this drama.

Interspersed in the cringe are some insightful moments about loving yourself, breakups and relationships.

I think the best way to summarize this show for the Kdrama world is that it is a show written by an INTJ about a bunch of ESFPs.

This is the most hilariously accurate review of this drama I have ever read. Even as an ENFJ ;)
