Han Ye-ri faces brother Uhm Tae-gu in new promos for tvN’s Hometown
by tccolb
New promos have been released for tvN’s upcoming thriller Hometown, including new stills and a video teaser featuring the main cast.
The story is centered around the character played by Uhm Tae-gu (Rescue Me 2). After being convicted of instigating a terrorist attack in his hometown many years ago, he is currently serving a life sentence. Even though he immediately turned himself in after the attack, Uhm has remained tight-lipped about what exactly happened that day and why.
One thing that remains unresolved is how the incident is connected to an old murder case from 1999. There seems to be a correlation to recent events as well, with the emergence of a serial killer who is still at large. Investigating all of this is police detective Yoo Jae-myung (Vincenzo) who is also a victim of Uhm’s past crime, having lost his wife in the terrorist attack.
Joining Yoo in the investigation is Han Ye-ri (My Unfamiliar Family), Uhm Tae-gu’s sister. She becomes re-invested in trying to uncover the truth about the past when her niece (Uhm’s daughter) suddenly disappears. Due to the strange timing of the family’s return to their hometown, all suspicions point to some kind of link with Uhm Tae-gu.
Lee Re (Hello? It’s Me!) takes on the role of Uhm Tae-gu’s teenage daughter. Despite the difficult circumstances around her father’s reputation, she grew up to be a happy child under the loving care of her aunt Han Ye-ri and grandmother Park Mi-hyun (Law School). The family found solace in one another and, together, were able to withstand the gossip and prejudice against them.
In the newly released stills, we get a glimpse of the happy family of three prior to young Lee’s disappearance. This is followed by stills of a serious Yoo Jae-myung and Han Ye-ri taking part in the investigations.
The teaser focuses on Uhm Tae-gu and Han Ye-ri, and it starts with Uhm playing with a lighter and walking down the shadowy hallway of the prison. He cryptically explains in voice-over, “You people won’t know what I’m talking about.” The scene is intercut with shots of Han tossing and turning in bed, and she screams when she finally wakes up from her nightmare. The video closes as Uhm Tae-gu looks up at the camera and clicks the lighter shut.
Written by Joo Jin and directed by PD Park Hyun-seok (Forest of Secrets 2, Dance Sports Girls), tvN drama Hometown premieres September 22 and will be airing Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Sounds good, but I guess we won't be able to abbreviate "Hometown Cha Cha Cha" as just "Hometown". Too bad because I don't really like that title.

I'm really curious about it. I like the actors and the PD. It's a short drama, so the mystery won't last too long!

VERY much looking forward to this. With only a few episodes, I'm hoping the plot will be tight and the story well-told. Plus, I adore Han Ye-ri. Can't wait!
