Falling in love in Twelve Nights for Channel A drama
by tipsymocha
I love a good youth romance, and upcoming Channel A drama Twelve Nights looks like a thoughtful take on the genre that would fit right in with the fall season. This show first caught my interest because Channel A doesn’t often have original drama programming, and I want to see whether this latest entry will distinguish itself from the cable channel’s largely disappointing past offerings.
I love this mini-Age of Youth reunion going on in the cast: Han Seung-yeon (About Time) and Shin Hyun-soo (My Golden Life) star as our two leads who meet on three separate trips over the course of eight years and eventually fall in love. Han Seung-yeon plays a practical photographer from New York, while Shin Hyun-soo’s role is that of a dancer from Japan. As is all too common in dramaland, the two are complete opposites: She is a dedicated realist while he’s a romantic.
I’m not sure whether the two plan it this way, or if it’s due to Fate, but they run into each other in 2010, 2015, and 2018 while on holiday, and spend a total of twelve nights together across those three encounters. And of course, they fall in love in that limited time span. Right below the show’s title, the caption on the poster reads, “Plenty of time to fall in love.” The show gives me vague Before Sunrise-esque vibes, which is a great thing in my book.
Both the writer and director, Hwang Sook-mi and Jung Heon-soo respectively, are rookies with no credits to their names. Which could go either way in terms of quality, but I do appreciate Channel A giving new names an opportunity to prove their abilities.
Twelve Nights is set to premiere this coming October.

Sounds fun. FOS was written by a rookie too, so I'm hoping for the best.

She wasn't quite a rookie... it was only her drama debut, but she had already written and directed a movie (or several can't remember).
I, too am hoping the rookies won't disappoint on this one, because I like me a good youth romance.

I would take a look at it and see if i like it. Writer and PD don't need to be famous, in order to make something cool

DEFINITELY sounds like it was inspired by the "Before" series. If it's one tenth as good as those films it will do fine

Wow, what a beautiful and atmospheric poster!
And how much do I love the role reversal here? The Hero is the one who's a romantic and the Heroine, a realist.
I didn't know about this drama but it's suddenly become one am looking forward to, along with A Million Stars.

The poster is so beautiful and I love a thoughtful youth romance. I'll check the first few eps to see if I'll like this one (as long as there's sub available).

IKR?! My initial reaction was NOOO, not another upcoming drama that wasn't even on my radar but looks super tempting! (I love this kind of story and I have a soft spot for Shin Hyun-soo.) I don't see how I can squeeze another one in, but since I'd rather have a drama deluge than a drought, I'd better not complain.

The poster is so pretty~
You had me at mini Age of Youth Reunion.
And yea, description reminds me of Before trilogy too, with a sprinkle of When Harry met Sally.

The poster and premise together create such a whimsy, meandering, thoughtful feeling, it makes me quiver with anticipation. I can’t wait to see this one, it seems like such a “wrap-in-a-sachet-and-place-it-in-the-pocket-directly-over-my-heart” kind of drama. :)
