while everyone notices plot holes and such, i tend to notice inconsistencies like this… you’d think they could use a good word processor for english text – word breaks instead of hyphens!!

      But the huge plot holes! But also an entire scene in English where subtitles for the English were absolutely critical to understanding, um, the English!!!

      Loved this week’s episodes overall, but sheesh.

    I know Pachinko needed a maximum 3 months gap because they had the confusing parallel time line set up. I think they will need to do the dog show style recap so people can get back up to speed when it is finally released.

    LOL. A professional hazard for dedicated beanies every time a wave of similar plots takes over dramaland. Just recently, I couldn’t remember who was the illegitimate chaebol heir in which drama, or who was the reincarnated lover of whom.

    This is funny, in a way, but not. I’ve found it a little sad, as a very happily married man for nearly 40 years, that in this current crop of kdramas, all husbands are bad. Even in Wedding Impossible, where its just a secondary element of the plot, the killer of the mother is the husband. While the cheating husband is a staple of melodramas, dating back to the 19th century, still this current crop of kdramas suggests that something is very wrong with marriage, at least in kdrama writers eyes!

      yeah, they all have secret lovers — usually someone super close to their wives, hellooo… but ya know, it actually happens alot, especiallly in japan i’m told… they say the wives expect it and don’t care? cuz they are taken care of, and just focus on the kids? is this true??

        This actually makes sense to me.
        Tbh, I never found this trope weird since I grew up hearing things like that all the time.

        At first, the wives reactions in kdramas were the most interesting part to me, since they “should’ve seen it coming”.

        It took me a while to understand other kind of perspectives.

      Strangely enough, as much as those shows throw every marriage under the bus, they are weirdly close minded of its end. As in, the husband might literally be a murderer, but you know what else he is? A CHEATER. If the former is needed for the plot, the latter is somehow what warrantees divorce.

    I just finished ep 6 Hide. Really, it’s so wild messy psycho. Killing people is just a side note to everyone’s personal agendas. The husband Cha Sung Jae and the creepy neighbor lady Ha Yeon Joo deserve each other. As do Cha Sung Jae’s parents . And the cliff hanger – sheesh! I don’t see any real redeeming qualities, past or present, of anyone at this point except maybe Jin Woo .

    i should’ve learned from when i was watching 3 sageuks, and there were actors/actresses in two or even all three – daegumama, right ministers, left ministers, guards, etc… i didn’t know who was King in which, etc.

    wasn’t there the same “mother” in It Happened in the Rain and One Spring NIght, but one was evil/awful and her role in the other was sweet?

    i am too old to keep track anymore… i need to just watch ONE DRAMA at a time, omg….

      Rhat has been a happening so nce I negan drama viewing about a decade ago – the same actor in dramas I watched simultaneously- and yes it’s super confusing and sometimes funny to realize you’ve mixed them up unawares!

daughter and husband scored IU tickets for Rosemont in the Chicago area – i dare not ask how much it cost, they had to get 2nd market tickets…

happily, my sister, brother-in-law and their married with children kids live over there so i will be busy with my sister while my two people are squeeing at the concert.

question: where is the Ktown area in Chicago? is there one? regardless, is there a favorite korean restaurant anyone can recommend? bbq place? good naengmyun place?

    Re: K-town, the OG Koreatown was in Albany Park. There are still Korean businesses there, restaurants, cafes, noraebangs, but most Koreans in the Chicago area live in the northern/northwestern suburbs now. Chinatown also has quite a lot of Korean businesses now. I would do some research on what sort of Korean stuff you actually want to do. For example, if you wanna do a jjimjilbang there is King Spa in Niles. Niles, Arlington Heights, Schaumburg areas have a good amount of Korean businesses in general.

      when they first were in the queue, they were in the 20,000+ places. so they checked back in the past couple days because immediately after it sold out, there were $2000 seats immediately resposted as 2nd market – a bunch of 6 tickets together which was the max allowed to purchase. so they were all bought up by BOTS!! why is this allowed???

      in japan, there’s a lottery, and one must have a japan address and one needs to show ID to verify their tickets upon entering, and they can’t sit together or is it they won’t know where they are sitting until later?… but they get to purchase the tickets at the original prices!

      ticketmaster is a total ripoff, and our country should regulate the scalper markets, it’s totally ridiculous!

i\’m on ep 4 of At the Moment a taiwanese series of separate stories of love during the pandemic. thus far, the stories are very relatable… worth a watch on Netflix.

    Awesome! That’s a great photo. I didn’t even think of using a colander – how clever! It was mostly overcast here in my notoriously foggy city to the south of you, but it got quite dark outside at the peak and then finally the sun came out enough to use my eclipse glasses and see a roughly 70%-eclipsed disk. All the leafy tree shadows on my floor were little crescents. 😍

my gawd… 11:30pm and i\’m hearing thumping and music – it\’s thursday night here!! i write on my neighborhood FB page and someone says it\’s Beyonce\’s concert. i live 3 miles away from the venue!

    That’s wild!! I heard a while back that one of the Taylor Swift Eras concerts in the US caused a ‘mini-earthquake’ – the equivalent of a 2.3 or something magnitude quake. Wouldn’t be surprised if Queen Bey fans were out to break that record 😂

        It’s finally cool enough here to have the windows open and tonight I heard a fireworks display nearby and now (10 pm) hear a crowd cheering, probably for some sports thing.
