Beanie level: Fan club president

My favorite thing about the finale, though, was the way he looked at her. I know lighting plays a part, of course, but he does something magic with his eyes, I swear. There is affection, but there is also this sense of wonder, as if she’s the most amazing thing he’s ever seen and I can’t get enough of it. His gaze is blinding. I could watch 16 hours of it. It’s too bad you can’t hear the first gif, because the absolute delight and laughter in his voice when he says, “What are you doing here?” was *chef’s kiss*.

Lee Min-ki dialed the charm to 100 and it’s entirely his fault that I am yearning for a romance drama and he has to take responsibility.

    I think he was actually stifling a real laugh during the “What are you doing here” line. It seems quite clear that the actors were having tremendous difficulty keeping it all together on set. And Han Ji-min does look f’ing ridiculous.

      Honestly, as much as I want them to do a real romance, I would be worried their ability to finish filming in a timely manner, because they seemed to absolutely lose it every time they so much as looked at each other, LOL.

    We need a season 2!!! No reason not to. Look at them. There is so much potential. Writers, PD’s, networks, and all humans with it a butt, here is a drama that needs a second season.

Honestly, a perfect ending scene for these two (even though I WANT TO SEE THEIR DATE), and I laughed out loud when Ye-bun stopped to get the mosquito, grabbed his wrist, and started running again

Han Ji-min kept crying while shooting the last scene, saying how happy she was and how it was the happiest she’s ever felt while filming a drama, that she felt so excited every day to come to set, and it almost made me cry too. 😭 I’m gonna have a soft spot for her forever now. This drama was far from perfect, but I think something that clearly brought this much joy to the people who worked on it is just as important as something that might be more perfect.

But seeing everyone smiling is much, much better!

    I highly doubt it. He sings in 21-25 (With) and can hold a tune, but his voice doesn’t have the same timbre and vibrato as the one here.

    Ohh… the “Stop eating him” was what actually made me laugh on that scene. Lee Min-ki has a knack for making adlibs. I remember his “That’s mine (slippers).” adlib in MLN. Ha!

I’ve been avoiding DB because I’m SOOOO behind on all my dramas guys I’m gonna go crazy here. This whole month is gonna be nonstop for me. 😭

I’ve been so ridiculously busy and finally, finally got to finish Behind Your Touch and the last 30 minutes were absolute perfection in a bottle and I need season 2 with more animals, no murder, Jang-yeol and Ye-bun adopting the shaman’s son (what happened to him?!), and the most serious crimes they solve involve runaway cows.

Y’all. I was a PUDDLE. Jang-yeol looked SO GOOD back in Seoul (his hair!!!) and the way he SMILED and LOOKED AT HER. 😭 GET THIS MAN IN A PROPER ROMANCE ASAP PREFERABLY WITH HAN JI-MIN. I am BEGGING. This had me mourning what could have been if people hadn’t been dropping like flies. It was SO good. I need more!!!! I am going absolutely feral!!!!!!

His laugh and smile when she showed up with the pollack roe lipstick. Insanity. The way he has gotten more and more attractive with each episode needs to be studied.

Not to mention what a badass Ye-bun was and how hot Lee Min-ki looked covered in blood 🫣 I said what I said. Them taking down 20 gangsters together was ridiculous and amazing. With Jang-yeol literally about to pass out the whole time lmaoooo. He lived up to his “I am your weapon” but she had her own weapon, too, hehe.

If you told me the purpose of the ending was to make everyone scream about how hot Lee Min-ki is I’d believe you. SO HOT. His eyes and smile are brighter than the sun, I swear. I wanted to see their date!!!!

The whole sequence with him blocking Lee Jung-eun’s headbutt 🥵 They knew what they were doing. If this was all a trial run for an eventual real rom-com for these two… seriously, it’s gotta be that, right? EVERYONE wants it! EVERYONE. Give the people what they want!!!!!

Also, he should wear a leather jacket always.

    I love that you love it so much, and I’m going to (try to) watch the ending. I would be open to another setting and different characters for these two.

      Oh, I highly recommend watching the last half of episode 16!!! Even if you know nothing and haven’t been paying any attention. The last ~20 minutes stand on their own somehow, LOL. Starting at the 47 minute mark!

      I mean, I actually loved the whole episode way more than I anticipated–the murders may have gotten to be way too much but everything about Ye-bun and Jang-yeol’s interactions even while being kidnapped and finally catching the murderer were 10/10 no notes. So ridiculous. How did he look so hot covered in all that blood?!

      On a side note, this whole show I have been hoping that Ye-bun didn’t get kidnapped and become damseled with Jang-yeol having to save her, and instead we got… both of them kidnapped LOL and Ye-bun being totally badass and smart and saving the day! I loved it! It almost makes all the trauma and murder worth it!

        Ha. Sorry! I didn’t know. But glad you got to see them again? I see that Mindy has also picked out many others—I remember distinctly that I didn’t like the way that my gifs turned out from that scene with the lipstick, when he was back in Seoul…although I completely agree that I was transfixed by his smile…but maybe someone with more skills than I have can make them pop.

Hey, Beanies!

We will be doing a Beanie group watch of the Son Ye-jin/Lee Min-ki rom-com-horror(lite) film Spellbound on Friday, October 6th at 9pm US Eastern Time (NYC time). For the time zone challenged, that is 6pm in LA, 8pm in Chicago, 2am on Saturday in London (sorry, European Beanies), 10am on Saturday in Seoul, and 12pm on Saturday in Sydney.

Sorry it took me so long to finalize the day/time, it’s been crazy around here! I hope it still works for most people (@moomoomoondog @elinor @hopefulromantic @enriquequierecagar @minniegupta1).

Anyone can join, I just tagged those who gave their availability! We will either do voice chat or text chat, whichever everyone is comfortable with, and of course no cameras will be on or anything so you don’t have to worry about that.

The only thing we still haven’t decided is whether we will use Discord or Kosmi. If everyone has a Discord account I think that might be the best way to do it, but if not everyone does then Kosmi is fine and can be accessed without making an account! Let me know if anyone has any preferences or other input. If you have Discord, feel free to add me as a friend @mindybean.

      It’s available (at least in the US) on Tubi, free with ads.

      I think the Kosmi link will also include a video stream – is that correct? I’ve never used it.

        Yes, I will be streaming the video for everyone! I’ll probably be doing it from Tubi, and I think my adblocker works well enough that I get no ads on the platform, which is a win!

        If that doesn’t work, I have a file downloaded for the movie, but Kosmi can be funny about streaming from files.

Okay Beanies, so should I rewatch Birthcare Center or My Liberation Notes? I know, two completely different dramas, but my desire to rewatch both is very strong for entirely different reasons and the first person to reply to this post gets to choose it for me.

    Birthcare Center! I just watch it when it was airing in Netflix and it was soooo very good!! It capture well how and what mother must evolve during the early chapter of motherhood. it’s really hidden gem, i think everyone should watching this and find out how hilarious but also heartwarming this sow.

      Isn’t it?!? When it first came out I was under the assumption it was a more serious/melo drama and never saw anyone here talk about it so I didn’t really seek it out. Then when it came on Netflix last year I hit play and was so angry that no one told me how good it was!!!!! Haha

The Kidnapping Day: Gah, I love this show! What an unexpected delight.

I’m still stunned by how well Yu-na plays this little tsundere genius. There is “good for a child actor” and then there is just plain good, and she is definitely the latter. I can’t wait to see what she does in the future.

I love the unexpected humanity we got from Ro-hee… re-kidnappers? You can tell they do care about her to an extent, and the way Myeong-jun probably unlocked some feelings even in Mr. Scary (I don’t know his name gjsjsjkdds sorry) when he said they should protect kids was 💯.

My poisoned brain sees Ye-yeol standing next to each other and forgets my anger after ep 14 even if she probably is about to (rightfully) lay into him and say she’s never ever going to forgive him for [redacted]. 🤡

Even if next weekend is a complete bloodbath I’ll still be sitting front and center like the fool I am! 🤪 Won’t be able to watch either episode until later on Sunday though so you won’t see me around these parts.

No matter what happens it’s sure been a fun ride lol. Hope for something a bit less messy next time for both of them.

          I really hope the show’s popularity + the fact that all the top comments in all languages I see on social media are salivating over them will mean SOMEONE out there will have the sense to reunite them in the next few years.

          I saw someone on Reddit say they want them in a story about two people approaching middle age finding love through a book club and that sounds amazing 10/10 I’m here for it someone write it

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: my absolute favorite trope? storyline? is “character who is starved for love finds someone to show them love”. Doesn’t matter if it’s familial, platonic, romantic, whatever. I love it every single time. Never tired of it. Never ever.

I love these two so much.

      It’s funny how we all worry about ending these days. What have dramas done to us.
      Given the tone of the show I do feel confident that it will be a happy ending for these two. Or I hope 😅
      The show has so much heart i highly recommend it.

    The scenes prior to this wete so bleak. Seeing her personality for 4 episodes it was just sad seeing her go about the motions. She visibly looked like she was stripped out of joy. When the other lady said pridefully about her music skills etc I just wanted to smack her 😅
    So this scene was just perfect at the end of it all. These two are just 🥰🥰🥰
