Beanie level: Chaebol’s poor doppelganger

There’s too much negativity in the world 😢😞

I’m not used to seeing him like this, but I’m loving his dead pan comedic skills. Woo DoHwan’s eye acting and minute facial expressions are on another level in this drama.

Chocolate Ep14
So many details to ponder upon. Mostly those of Joon, Director Kwon and SeonAe. Kang and Cha Young’s final scene turned out to be so much better than I expected.

This show’s pulling me in..I took a peek at the premiere episodes and I can’t wait to see more. The Rookie Docs are too fragile and precious I want to see them grow and rise above it all. Kim SaBu and Doldam Team, I have faith in you!!! 💕

I was literally flooded with tears and irrepressible joy by the end of Ep 12 – what a satisfying pay off!! So, so beautiful.

Who cares about the grandma and the hospital?!

There was a moment when I thought her daughter-in-law was going to just kill her. I mean, go daughter-in-law….

I still think the DIL has done something to the grandma in the hospital. Is she now in a coma? I was watching raw without sub, no idea what happened in the last hospital scene.

I thought she was going to do something when she was alone in the room with her, but then there’s the scene where everyone comes back, and grandma is alive and off the ventilator. So, if she did try to do something of screen, either she chickened out, or it didn’t work, or we might get a flashback and see what happened.

It was so beautifully done.. that moment when Kang realizes she’s the little girl from his past. I’m one of those who dislike childhood connection trope. But this was really beautiful 💕

i love this scene and what i love more was how once these 2 leave the frame camera still remains on that empty chair to emphasize on the importance of that chair, their togetherness even more…

I really loved this scene too.
The moments they shared here, how this scene confirmed Kang’s feelings for Cha Young *before* the big REVEAL.

Chocolate.
Is it too much to ask for a happy ending for the cousins standing together against their awful family? No to love triangles please.

I liked episode 9 with Cha Young and Kang in the car scene. Didn’t like episode 10 so much. I’m getting numb with all the terminally ill patients. Is it just me? I understand it’s a hospice. But I’m not connecting with the new characters. I’m getting apathetic even for ajumma with amnesia.

Hoping 11 and 12 will be better 🍫

It’s because there’s been too many, and we aren’t really given a chance to connect with them. Worse, for the new ones in the latest episodes, we don’t really see the staff, particularly Kang, connecting with the patients. The volume of tragic events is become a bit much, while our ability to digest and care is becoming more difficult. It was narrative mistake to have that boy die so soon because he was a connecting thread with everyone.

I think we’re getting an angst triangle.

Ugh. I really hope they don’t go there. I don’t get the jealousy vibe from Joon though. I think he’s genuinely curious about Kang and Cha Young. I actually like him more in this episode. He’s making Kang jealous lol. I wouldn’t mind if he knocked some sense onto Kang.

Still craving for some old-fashioned warmth from the good folks at Doldam hospital. Hoping to find time for a rewatch before Season 2 in January.

I heard that played in the drama too. There are two versions. Maybe this song represents the leads characters’ story that’s why there’s one version for each of them.

My heart goes out to this sweet, caring and cheerful little kid who becomes jaded and aloof and closed off his heart except for one person. I want to see him smile again.

“My Country” Appreciation Post wouldn’t be complete without the Man behind the Fan.

Jang Hyuk as Yi Bang-Won.
Magnificent.
Intense.
Phenomenal.
Mesmerizing.

He is so good! It took me a while to see it, but from episode 12 on, I truly started appreciating Jang Hyuk’s ability

His screen presence alone is magnetic. It was my first time to see him and I was blown away by his performance. All the emotions in his eyes and body language. And his voice! His laugh and the way he speaks… Amazing.

I really love the scene where he was watching his daughter while she was sleeping.
Jang Hyuk would make a great King Sejong too.

Seo Hwi and Nam SunHo.
One True Bromance.

“…but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” Throughout it all, they had each other’s back.

Yang SeJong and Woo DoHwan were perfectly cast. One was a “softie” with an almost innocent aura and demeanor who turns into an almost soul-less character while the other has been hardened by life’s fate yet still had a perceptible vulnerability. They had such palpable chemistry and gave an impressive performance it was hard not to root for one without rooting for the other.
