So there’s a pizzeria I usually go to and pick up my pizza I previously ordered online. Sometimes I see the cashier speaks to deliverymen and there’s a really cute one among them with a really cute smile. I went there to get my pizza and surprise ! LMAO reminds me of a Hollywood movie about a lawyer who lies a lot. So one day when he can’t make it to his kid’s birthday the kid wishes that his father would stop lying and the wish comes true. Thus ensues a great tale of hilarity. But I can’t remember the name of it. Can someone help me!?

Juror 8 (Not too bad)
Jade Dynasty (Chinese movie, not very good)
I agree! I was sad at first that Park Sung Woong wasn’t really the main actor in the movie, but I ended up not being bothered because Jinyoung did a great job.
I agree with wanting more PSW in Dude in Me, but I ended up not being bothered because Jin Young did a surprisingly good job in it.
That’s the perfect description of Juror 8 😆
Jade Dynasty is based off a really popular book series which both the drama and movie are based from. But they tried to crush a whole book into an hour and a half movie. So the plot made almost no sense and then the last 15 minutes was this sudden acceleration that gave you whiplash and made you confused. I don’t suggest.
I watched Parasite and it made me feel some type of way. I’m still not sure what emotion it was but I was definitely on the edge of my seat the whole way through.
It provoked mixed feelings (in a good way) to a lot of people. I think the mix of different tons like light humour, drama, family story and social commentary in one movie surprised people.
It’s a 4-episodes drama special available on KBS World youtube channel. Mu Gil is very sick and asks his granddaughter to look for his first love after he received a birthday letter from her. The problem is it’s her granddaughter who actually sent the letter, so she starts to actually look for her and learns about their love story. They were childhood friends, each other’s first love and found themselves in Hiroshima when the atomic bomb was dropped. I loved this drama special as it tells an event I’ve never watched in a drama before. The story is heartbreaking in the second half as we see what the ex-lovers went trough in the past and that the granddaughter’s quest for her grandpa’s first love isn’t going smoothly. Song Gun Hee (I’m happy to keep seeing more of him!) and Jo Soo Min gave a really good performance as the lovers young version. They broke my heart and the older version played by Jeon Moo Sung and Jung Young Sook were as good.
If Talking Paid/My Story is Long/Ore no Hanashi wa Nagai
Mitsuru is a complete fan of coffee. He even opened a business, but it failed, so he’s still unemployed at the age of 31 and lives with his mother. One day, his sister, her new husband and her daughter have to stay with at his mother’s house because their house is under renovation. Seeing her brother every day makes the sister want to meddle with his unemployed life. Of course, Mitsuru doesn’t like it and they butt heads. I really enjoyed this slice-of-life drama where talking is – like referred in the title – the thing characters do the most. So, there are a lot of dynamic discussions about everyday things, not important at first glance, but leads to strengthening bonds between characters. My favorite relationship’s development is the sister’s husband and the daughter. They were awkward at the beginning of the drama and they grew naturally closer and bonded by the end. Mitsuru can be annoying at times and genuinely nice at other times. Even in his unemployed status, he doesn’t shy away from people and give good advices. Seeing Ikuta Toma back on small screen after a long time was so good! (Idatten is not subbed completely so I’m not counting it)
Mitsuru and his crazy hair are adorable. I’m still on ep 8 and I wish it had 16 eps so I could have more of this family and their lovely banter. This is exactly what I expect when I drop so many kdramas for being unrealistic, even when they want to do this kind of genre, it seems too contrived. These people just talk like real people, even the minor characters like the coffee shop regular customers are quirky but real. The thing I disliked a bit was the romance because it was too rushed and superficial, not worthy of the rest of the series so far. My favorite thing besides Mitsuru himself is how Kouji is this super nice guy and even a pushover sometimes, but drama shows this respectfully and we never laugh at him because of that. It’s refreshing because I think this kind of character is not possible for kdramas, they simply become idiots.
16 episodes would be too much I think. Maybe it’s because I’m used to the 10-11 episodes of 45 min format, but more would be too much for the content.
I absurdity loved Kouji! He’s just such a nice guy, I wanted him to grow closer to his now daughter. It was also nice to see Mitsuru being his confident.
This show was great. I didn’t expect to like it this much. It spoke to me on many levels while remaining fun. Also I thought that it could never make me cry because it was always light hearted but in the last episode when Mitsuru’s family cheered for him, I cried with him. I would’ve loved a little more exploration in the emotions of the characters but what I saw was good enough and maybe I’m just used to kdramas digging deep and making the “moments”.
When his family cheered for him, it looked like his future would be bright and that he will eventually find a job he likes. It was really hopeful.
I liked this format, so the characters emotional moments didn’t look deep enough. It’s understandable that you are left with this impression when you’re used to Korean storytelling (a bit too emotional sometimes for my taste).
I really liked this depiction of someone going through a quarter life crisis. There are plenty of young people who expect to have their shit figured out by 25 and when you it crashes, yeah, it sucks.
But there is not extreme with this one like other shows. He has a loving parent, a place to stay, is social and liked and, here is important, is not the biggest entitled douchebag in the world. He is a little lazy sure, and acknowledges that he knows that he needs to be better and trying to figure it out.
井 is his surname, but the 寶 character has a double meaning in Chinese depending on the context that you mean to use it. It can mean baby, treasure, precious, brilliant– anything along those lines lol– and the nickname “井寶” was given to him by his fans & those he’s worked with as a term of endearment 🙂
I went into fangirl mode when I saw that Byun Yo Han AND Kim Moo Yeol will be in the same movie!
Here’s the really short synopsis on asianwiki:
Seo-Joon (Byun Yo-Han) falls victim to a voice phishing crime group. He loses everything. Seo-Joon then works to find the head office of the voice phishing group in China. There, he meets Pro Kwak (Kim Moo-Yul), who is a planner for voice phishing.
Chun Woo Hee and Yoo Teo starred in the movie Vertigo two months ago. It doesn’t look like we will see him in a happy relationship according to asianwiki’s synopsis :
Seo-Young (Chun Woo-Hee) is a single woman in her 30’s and she is a contract worker at a company. She dreams of having a stable life, but her reality is far from that. She’s insecure in her relationship with her boyfriend Jin-Soo (Yoo Teo), who works at the same company. She is not sure whether the company will extend her contract. Her mother gets hysterical to her on the phone. Seo-Young gets tired of her daily life. For some time, when she enters her company’s office in a tall building, she experiences dizziness and ringing in her ears. During this time, her boyfriend Jin-Soo suddenly resigns from the company. Seo-Young’s stress gets even worse. She looks out of an office window and sees Kwon-Woo (Jeong Jae-Kwang). He is a window cleaner.
Taiwanese actress Li Chiling and AKIRA ( from Japanese group Exile ♥️) got married this year and did a photoshoot for Vogue Taiwan. I love the fun vibes coming from the pics 🙂

I’m putting The Witness on my list 🙂
I wanted more of Park Sung Woong scenes in The Dude in Me. Otherwise it was an enjoyable family movie.
Juror 8 was ok. It’s more a movie with to watch when you don’t know what to watch imo.
Jade Dynasty exists as a drama with different actors, doesn’t it? I’ve read the story doesn’t flow naturally in the movie version.

Birthday Letter (2019)

I’ve been eyeing this one because I like Ikuta Toma lots, but have been waiting for it to be done and completely subbed. Thanks for the reminder.

“Your Japanese Isn’t Right” HAHA !!! I love it.

井 is his surname but 寶 isn’t his first name, am I right? Is it another way to write it or a nickname?
