So I’ve been inactive since July and now just dropping by to say that 7 new Kdramas in November are adaptations of webtoon/novel/Japanese TV series. A lot has changed since 10-yr old “The Heirs”
Random recommendations guys: THE 50 BEST KOREAN DRAMAS since 2010 (https://rypler.com/best-korean-dramas/). I believe DEEP ROOTED TREE deserve its spot in the top 5–one of the best sageuks for me!
The Nokdu Flower and Prison Playbook should be in that list, imo (this one adjusts to the Baeksang nominations criteria).
I’ll take note of some shows that weren’t in my Plan to watch list yet.
I also like Prison Playbook, although I only watched until ep 13 iirc. One of series from the list that I highly recommend to my friends is HOT STOVE LEAGUE. Maybe you can consider it too. Park Eun-bin is in it!
‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’ recorded an 11.7% rating nationwide on Jul 20! This is the second highest rating achieved by a cable drama in 2022 so far, next only to Our Blues’ 14.6%.
I’ve been reluctant to do this, but this person (bot?) posts only to promote his/her web site and it doesn’t seem much different from any other flavor of spam.
Hi fellow beanie, I’m sorry if you see it that way. It’s true that I’ve been posting Rypler-related content these past few months. I’m a big fan of DB ever since javabeans was still around and I understand how important substantial beanie posts are in this community. From now on, I will do my best to contribute better and only sparsely promote external links where applicable. Thank you.
Oh my, that’s amazing!! AHHH I’m so glad – after loving a run of dramas that the Korean audience apparently wasn’t that taken with, I’m so glad this is getting all the love and hype that it’s genuinely earned and deserves 💕
It hits all the right notes (except for the lawsuit premises that don’t quite make sense like still being able to charge the autistic son with assault even after determining he tried to save his brother).
That is incredible and not unexpected after they had over 50% on the latest buzzworthy list. I read that was even slightly higher than Penthouse, which was crazy popular.
Pretty incredible. There are a lot of popular dramas with double digit ratings that never hit 50%. I guess it helps that there really isn’t anything else airing that is getting a lot of buzz.
The jump in ratings is impressive but when you consider that it is airing on a cable channel new to airing original dramas and the previous one that they aired didn’t break one percent, it’s quite amazing.
“Extraordinary Attorney Woo” has exploded in popularity, becoming the most buzzworthy drama last week (https://rypler.com/weekly-korean-drama-rankings/) and most watched primetime Kdrama on July 6!
I guess it’s because Ghost Doctor was only made available on Netflix recently (3rd week of June) and people were checking it out because of international star Rain, and also Kim Bum who’s more popular among the younger audience.
It was on Viki and just released on Netflix. I wish it had been on Netflix from the beginning. I think it would have gotten much more attention when it was airing.
Ok that makes sense! I alternate my subscriptions according to who has the shows I want. It is a shame if the shows miss out on the International audience if they can’t be found.
I resisted Viki for ages as I didn’t want two subscriptions running but had to get it to watch Mr Queen and What’s wrong with secretary Kim?
I would definitely recommend it, good storyline and well acted. When I spoke about it before in another thread the general consensus is the younger actor’s strengths come when he is working alongside an experienced actor.
