Beanie level: Chaebol’s poor doppelganger

Need Yoon Park and Kim Sung Cheol to get some lead romance roles in my lifetime. They are simply too handsome. To.Jenny and Birthcare Center do not count.

Pretty sure KSC has a chance to land a lead, but when it comes to YP I feel like he’s going to be stuck in a second lead forever. And what a damn shame that is.

    2
    1

Same I think KSC could make the jump in the next year or two, but Yoon Park :((( been waiting essentially since 2016 to see it happen and it hasn’t.

Both get what it takes to be the lead but some unwise project choices would easily derail the trajectory.

Right??!? I’ve been waiting SO LONG for them to be leading men. Same goes for Lee Soo-hyuk. What do I need to sacrifice to the drama gods to make it happen?

I always thought people that singled out one particular social media platform as toxic were just being naive about internet culture and it’s problems at large. But I’ve had a Twitter for 2 months now and I’m convinced that there IS something about it in particular that makes people just especially eager to be snide.

I have a regular twitter and a stan twitter, and Callie… it’s another world and sometimes it’s scary!!

I only made one because of fomo finally catching me and thinking that it would be better way to engage with the fandoms I like, but I don’t think I’m cut out for it! 😅 Time to slip back into my niche little corners of the web instead.

Twitter is indeed a special kind of hell

    1
    0

It’s sad because it didn’t use to be that way. It was and is still an important place for many communities (US Young Adult writers come to mind), but somehow fan culture spiralled out of control in Twitterverse. I write and edit for a K-pop site in my free time, and the most inflaming comments and ridiculous accusations we get usually come from Twitter.

That said, I still use it to follow fanart accounts and accounts for sites I read (including DB! And also National Geographic etc.) I just make sure to only interact with people I’ve had actual conversations with in real life.

Sad News:
New Yoon Chan Young Drama will be available on Viki, but with a two day delay 🙁

Worse News:
New YCY Drama has changed it’s English title from “Juvenile Delinquency” to “Hope or Dope” 😬

I wish I was the type of person that enjoys rewatching things cause nothing new I try to start is hitting it these days…

Recent castings have actually been pretty exciting to me in terms of who is coming up in them. But the pairings have been questionable… Like yes I would like to see those people, but not together…

8
2

Exact, word-for-word description of how I feel about the potential Yoo Yeon-seok + Moon Ga-young pairing in the works. The two of them are great. I wouldn’t even mind if they shared the same screen, but just not together.

Dramaland has been giving us strange pairings recently.

Was randomly reminded of Come Bask Ahjussi the other day and I\’ve realized the cast for it was kind of stacked. The amount of actors/actresses from even just the supporting cast that I remain obsessed with to this day is very telling, and this was where I was first exposed to most of them. It\’s also one of those dramas that you look back on and realize that half the industry appeared in it at some point.

6
1

Not being into some of the super big idol groups is funny sometimes because I\’ll be looking at the cast for something thinking \”who is this vaguely familiar man\” and it\’ll turn out to be someone in like NCT.

5

Geez louise, thank god. Things looks back to normal. Was anyone else randomly not able to do anything on the site for like 3 days? Couldn\’t post on my fan wall or comment on anything at all.

Are Yi Jin and Yu rim cousins or just family friends? I feel like the subs\’ use of \”aunt\” is throwing me off and I may be taking it too literally.

I just finished episode 4 btw.

I’m pretty sure just family friends. If they were cousins they wouldn’t be rumors of them dating.

    4

They’re family friends but Asians call older people aunt/uncle, even those not related.

I was not prepared for a single word in this headline.
Jokes asides, it’ll be…uh, interesting how SK chooses to portray this subject matter.

Okay, how can you do that accidentally??

But the premise aside, more Yoon Chan-young is always a good thing.

I\’ve developed second lead syndrome for that boy in the thai version of Boys Over Flowers. Have I seen any of the show at all? No. But that\’s irrelevant.

    So how did discover him?

Dew Jsu looks good. At the opposite of the ML, he has a great style.

    2
    1

      Instagram algorithm. Haha.

He is very beautiful. So is the ML, but his character looking like the epitome of the Toxic Male Lead™ detracts a lot.

      2
      1

The story is a classic. It’s hard to root for the ML at the beginning. But actually it’s kinda nice to see the ML growing up. But it’s totally a cliché story where love changes the characters :p

        0

story is classic. I have second lead syndrome in EVERY version. EVERY SINGLE version EXCEPT THAI version.. lol (but because the story ain’t doing much justice to the meat behind his character)

Dew however, in real life, is just as cool and calm.. and sexy..

I\’m still at the point where my mind thinks 2019 dramas only aired a year ago.

11
3

Going back to watching media with 48 min and 20 min runtimes was a mistake. My brain feels like it\’s melting when I try to watch these 80 min drama episodes. It\’s like a three hour endeavor with all the pausing I gotta do.

People wanted this?! I thought it was acknowledged the first season (series?) was a flop and we were all just gonna forget about it.

I can think of no more suitable target for Beanie’s first organized boycott.

It might depend on whether Magical Horse will make an appearance. I see that there’s a new director, so maybe there will be new lighting too.

      7
      1

@ndlessjoie “new” lighting? Was there even lighting in the first one? *laughing*

But you’re fight about Magic Horse. I think the search party is still out looking for him. Heh!

I still haven’t given up hope for a second season of Vagabond, don’t leave me hanging like that!

The ratings didn’t meet expectations but they must have made money off of it.

    3

They most likely did. Enough that they want to do it all over again.

I will definitely skip this and rely on the recaps if there will be one. Or the comments in the fanwall.

    same question i have

    1
    0

    I have one question: why?

    2
    0

I want Joong ki in another project. But I bet he will hard to reject this. He needs to continue a good relationship with the writers too. if he accept this, he will have no reak during 2022. Is he okay? the roles of Eun Seum is phisically demanding.

Not the bedazzled “juicy” on her top… between this and the pixelated time cards/”captions”, they’re really killing me in the best possible way.

I need Twenty-Five Twenty-One to be good so bad. I am so bored and desperately in need of something to be obsessed with.

Instagram algorithm has caught on to the fact that I watch dramas and keeps recommending \”romantic\” edits of the Nevertheless couple… 😬

Now I did not watch this, but wasn’t the WHOLE point that they were not “couple goals” 🥴 ??

The dress over pants + dumb, too thin, short sleeve hoodie combo… finally some accurate 90s/00s fashion representation. She’s a queen.

17
4

That the one look I instantly recognized! That’s the one I wore ever so often in the early 00’s, from hair pins to converse trainers. I also wore Kim Taeri’s – but the cool baggy trousers first came later for me, around 2005. The ponytails and sun glasses are on point, though.
Funny thing: 00’s fashion and crazy layering is making a huge comeback. Yesterday my kid went to school sporting ponytails, long sleeves under short sleeves and huge ass army boots. She gets her fashion cues from Tiktok, and, yes, she’s pretty cool 😋

    3
    1

I was trying to remember what feels wrong about Kate’s trousers – in the late 90’s, early 00’s the thing were low (I mean, really low)- waisted bell trousers. This cut is actually a lot cooler, but it became fashionable a bit later

      3
      1

I didn’t dress like this myself but I went through high school in the 90’s/00’s and love dramas set then for the nostalgia factor.

Honestly amazed Snowdrop will be making it to it\’s finale without being pulled off air. Did not think they had the slightest chance in the beginning.

Why do actors returning from the military always pick a crime/thriller drama as their first project back. Sir, I\’ve waited two years, I want to see you heart eyes-ing and pining.

9
11

I know! Was thinking the same thing about Woo Dohwan, because that synopsis just sounded a bit old and done. And WDH has got a great range – he’s great in dramatic scenes, he can be super goofy, and he can bring on the pining and the smoulder when required. So why stick to action?

    3
    2

I guess it’s their body? Grab a role that will need it when it’s still in shape, maybe? Lol
But yeah I guess male stars benefit more from rom com or romance roles after their service than action, crime shows.

      4
      2

But he was already super fit prearmy, so it’s not as if this is his big chance to flash those guns 😂
I’m still waiting for him to go back to light comedy action. I’d love a beach drama, WDH as part of a flipflop wearing treasure-hunting duo

        1
        0

        Exactly my thought.

        1
        0

Because he was super goofy in his last role before army? So he needs a change.

He has the perfect body and training to act as a boxer now :p

If we are talking about Woo Do-hwan I am eagerly awaiting his return to the small screen in Netflix’s HUNTING DOGS.
One concern is that I did not see it on the recent list of Netflix Korean dramas that was released.

I am a fight guy. I mentioned before that perhaps Netflix will open a boxing school because just last year two of the Netflix’s Korean dramas that I watched had heavy boxing components: MOVE TO HEAVEN and D.P. For their boxing skills in both dramas I give kudos to: (MTH: Lee Je-hoon, Lee Jae-wook) and (D.P.: Jung-Hae-in, Lee Jun-young). I am sure WDH will have no problem joining these guys with his physicality.

    2
    3

That list was just for 2022. Netflix takes quite a while to release dramas, so if it’s filming in the next few months, it won’t be released until 2023.
