@dorotka Mine sometimes does the same on Brave too. It's like it's scanning the collapsed replies to find the one it's looking for.

@zindigo, @isagc - what a mess! At this point there is way more drama and mystery around distribution than both shows combined.

@cliosservant1846 modern and costume dramas are not comparable, I'm afraid - standards for the latter are much higher, not it the least because there is a different type of speech required. Hence why modern shows are overdubbed nowhere near as often. And WHD, bless him, was criticized heavily in every drama he dubbed himself. Not only for his thick Sichuanese accent (that was left in DAFENG deliberately as self-irony, I believe, his Mandarin has gotten way better lately), but also not clear enough diction. There are many elements to good voice acting, according to Chinese audience, so here's that.

I'd say they ARE overreacting a bit, but let me give you more close to home example: there's this comedienne-turned-actress in my country and the movie she's FL in was in theaters not long ago, with its ads and trailers everywhere, so even totally uninterested me couldn't escape it... and her line delivery in those trailers is ATROCIOUS: she dropped her trademark "country" accent for it, but delivers her narration flatter than a robot, lifelessly and monotonous, like she's reading a microwave manual in a language she doesn't really know. It was hysterically bad and made me think back to all cnetz complaints about why some actors NEED to be dubbed. I still think it's the case of "give them a chance to learn" rather than flat out dismissal early on, but perhaps we need to wait a few more years until this relatively new idea of "everyone should dub themselves" takes a root properly. And certain actors actually listen to feedback on their performance and make an effort to improve.

I have no problem with that, but I have to wait a bit - like, it takes me to the page, waits a second and then jumps to the comment.

Thank you for tagging me every week. 😘
I unfortunately had to give up, Real Life got way too busy.
I hope you guys had a blast, I remember that especially during the first half I laughed a lot... and that I really enjoyed a lot of actors here, not only the great Shin Hyesun.

How would the Beanies know what to vote on? We have all been caught out with a drama that looked good on paper but then turned into a nightmare and vice versa. The recapers need time to plan their watch and write time so may only be available for a certain shows run time, or prefer a specific genre etc. They have often signed up for a show and then been trapped with a dud Heavenly idol, Bad memory eraser, DNA lover…. The list is long.

A fun drama, except for the one episode. I enjoyed this rewatch. Everyone went back to their respective eras and revenge was had. I liked this drama then and I like it now!!

I guess we can't always get everything we want and must be happy with what they can offer @dorotka

@midnight
I see it as work in progress 😊
(At least I hope the plan IS to have back the multilevel discussion threads.)

What seems to work now is the referring to a comment further than on the first page (the page2 curse is broken 🙂).

@amnesiayawns @zindigo

I love this theory🥰 it definitely fits for a fairy tale. We need a flashback to the origin story and I bet we will see a Joseon era love triangle with annoying girl’s ancestor putting a curse on Jieun’s family because Yunjae’s relative chose Jieun’s relative over her😬

In Good day to be a dog they had to be kissed while they were in the dog form and if it didn’t happen within a set time they stayed like that forever. I wonder if it will be about endurance e.g. the male form has to feel loved and receive a genuine kiss or their partner staying with them long term to demonstrate that it’s a permanent love.

I don’t get if that’s why she only had a short period where she returned to being her normal self. Is there two tests and Yunjae passed the first hurdle but now he needs to hang around for a designated period of time to show he will be there for the long term? It is soooooooooooo frustrating not knowing the story of parents or grandparents. Now is the time they need to start talking, there are no excuses.

At least in Good day to be a dog the kids were told the problem and the solution while they were children. They also knew about the long term consequences.

Wow, that's a long day @reply1988. I hope the training is fun to make up for it! Thank goodness for streaming services and not having to be tied to broadcast times like the old days 😉

I liked the ending, but I didn’t love it. I was happy to see the King and Queen back together (they are such a good team!) and happy to get to know the bandits a little better. It was nice to see Byung-in get the ending that he wanted for himself (honestly could not see that relationship ending any other way) and Court Lady Choi and Royal Cook get a cute resolution.

I even could have been okay with everyone switching back at the end, into their original bodies and times, and certainly the switchers seemed pretty happy with everything. And yet. The show doesn’t seem like it wants me to be happy with the ending. But they almost did? This whole time I’ve been operating under the assumption that the Queen we’ve been following around has been hybridizing ever since she started to get her memories back. Her personality and skills are still dominantly Bong-hwan, but she’s taking on more and more attributes and skills of So-yong too. Meanwhile she was there the whole time, absorbing attributes of Bong-hwan and feeding into him. By that logic, Cheoljong fell in love with this hybrid person, and I assumed this is what they were going to use to give us a happy ending when they switched back. So-yong would be back in control, but be slightly more Bong-hwanish than before. And that’s what they did - kind of.

The real So-yong is cursing and assertive and has clearly changed from the beginning of the story, but then there were multiple shots of Cheoljong stuck in his memories of that time the Queen “claimed” she was actually a man from the future! What do you want me to do with that, Show?! Just accept that he was in love with both of them and move on? Literally, if it hadn’t been for those two tiny scenes I would be 87% more cool with all of it. As it is, it’s left me gazing at some of their final scenes together like Cheoljong was gazing at the dictionary he made.

I do also wish we’d gotten a little more wrap-up time. This was a 20 ep drama, so there is no reason not to let us know more about everyone’s life a little farther on. Where’s the obligatory time jump when you want it? Is Bong-hwan a chef again? Is he back to his old ways or permanently changed? Did So-yong deliver her baby safely? Did Hong Yeon ever confess to her crush? Can we look back at that history book for a hot second? All in all, I really enjoyed this drama, and it’s not like the ending was a total disaster, but it’s rare that a show could have left out a single minute of film and made me much more satisfied.

My Lovely Journey: Episodes 5-6

by Dramaddictally

I'm from the US, but some of my dearest friends live in the UK, so I visit there regularly. I'm also a huge fan of British mysteries (books and shows). I guess I picked up a lot of Britishisms by that. They are often so apt!

@oldawyer
I'm curious what will happen at the wedding. Though... if Boa is going to be stolen... then Go Wonhee is here just in a cameo role? That would be a waste of her talent (and I would miss her).

It appears that hades froze over while we were sleeping here in the US. MR now scheduled to release on Viki on August 31. Let's see if that sticks. I'm going to wait and watch When Destiny Brings the Demon first (a title that is hilariously apropos to this situation).

Excited for this - just wondering what's up with Disney+ and these body guard tropes (Red Swan, Blood Free)? Hoping there's actually a story that wraps up well, because 9 episodes with this star-studded cast? mercy. Moving did extremely well imo with an extensively star-studded cast, but the show had more episodes and I believe there will be a season 2. Hope this one isn't a waste.

Oh Jung-se never takes time off? It will be the 4th drama I watch with him but sadly not very good ones (but not because of him).

Even if I think Kang Dong-won and Jung Ji-hyun are a little bit overrated, I'm pretty happy with this casting.

I hope it won't end up like Blood Free. It started pretty well and then...

I love that! What a great theory, and I wouldn't at all be surprised if you are right.
