If Jang Hyuk turns out to be this reformed bad boy it'll be a repeat of his role in Thank You (somewhat). Could we not go down that path again? This is only one Gi Seo...

It is too much to hope for when I'm wishing to see another refreshing Korean drama like Soulmate?

Yes! Love for Jang Hyuk aside, he seemed to have no chemistry with his ex-girlfriend (poor casting choice, I guess), so I didn't buy that he was sooo in love with her, and then I didn't buy that he fell in love with Bom's mom. Oh, well.

One more thing about Thank You - though I did shed many tears throughout the series for various reasons, the grandfather who started out being cute and endearing ended up, for me at least, being somewhat irritating. As I was watching towards the end, I kept thinking, "if I hear him say Babo, DDonggae one more time...just shoot me and get it over with"
*still hiding from indignant fans*

I agree. I hope the writers have planned something better. Jang Hyuk's so capable - please don't stick him in another cliche melodrama.

"And in the end, I ended up liking Shin Sung Rok’s character, despite his faults."

ME TOO!! His character got a lot more complex and interesting as the drama progressed whereas Jang Hyuk's went flat and south. *runs from indignant fans*

Am I the only one who did not - L O V E - Thank You? **ducks to avoid angry fans** Don't hate me, but I had mixed feelings about Thank You. I started out really liking it (mostly because I love Jang Hyuk - La Plume, I'm right there with you on the badly shaved, gruff exterior/soft-on-the-inside rebel type) & of course, I loved little Bom. But as the story progressed, I started getting really annoyed with Gong Hyo Jin's character. Perhaps, it was because I had just finished watching Hello My Teacher, where she played exactly the same doormat! After being in love for eight years with Shin Sung Rok (I can't believe he's so young in real life), I just didn't buy that she fell for Jang Hyuk that quickly. And in the end, I ended up liking Shin Sung Rok's character, despite his faults. Which, btw, reminds me to ask javabeans what her overall rating for Hyena is. I've been wanting to watch it, but am waiting for the subs. Is it worth getting the DVD's (poor subs are okay with me)?

Back to Bandits/Robbers, Lee Da Hae as “angelic and self-sacrificing," right after her attempt at Rocker Chic, right after campy Aegissi, would be a laugh. I'm still looking forward to Hong Gil Dong but will probably end up watching both, eventually.

Ouch. I fear for what you might say about Sung Yuri in the near future. Not an avid fan of LDH, but i thought that she was fine in My Girl. Like many have commented, I accepted her exaggerated performance there because her role was similar to Jae Hee in DGCH.

It's interesting to see if she continues to exhibit the same saccharine-ness that we've come to identify her with. I'd think that most actors would want to dissociate themselves from any character as soon as the work is done for fear of stereotyping. And the "serious" actors tend to pick future roles at least somewhat different from previous ones to stretch their acting abilities. So i don't get the reason for the cutesy image that she wants to cultivate. I agree that it could be tiresome if that's all she's capable of years from now.

The way i see it, could this possibly be due to (1) lack of quality scripts, (2) poor career choices or (3) the desire to stay within her comfort zone? I mean she's young so i'll give her the benefit of time and hope that she'll eventually maximize her acting potential. I guess we'll have to watch Bandits to see. But if that turns out to be another typical bad-boy-reformed-by-the-love-of-a-good-woman, I think that the person I'll feel most badly for is actually Jang Hyuk.

I'll check it out, I've got nothing to lose.
And yeah Song Hye Gyo was bland in My Girl And I and Hwang Jin Yi. I guess it's a good thing that beauty isn't everything...even a goodlooking star has to do a good performance to get recognition.

i agree that it suggests suicide... but i adore tablo and call me biased or whatever but i love him for being so god-damn controversial sometimes... it makes it seem like he got influenced by the Berkeley bears' liberalism-ness instead of Stanford cardinals' whatever resembles them.... lol but whatevs.. i'm supposed to be studying anyways...but this was definitely a worth while digression

it looks like one of those films that will entertain me for a while but will completely forget about once the end credits starts rolling.

not too fond of her 'acting'. she did a good job in 'Fantasy Couple', but anyone could've played the part.
