This is a venting post. I find it so annoying when people just write acronyms. Please spell out the name of the show and actors/actresses so I understand what you’re writing
But some titles are so damn long 🙁 and the shows are super popular so the acronyms become the standar (it even works with google). For ex:
WWWSK? = what’s wrong with secretary Kim.
TSLOMS = the secret life of my secretary.
I’ll make an effort and write the whole name of the characters tho.
I honestly wouldn’t know which shows those are just based on the acronyms. Maybe because I didn’t watch them? I am more familiar with ones like ISWAK. I usually use a word instead of the whole show. For example, Weather for When the Weather is Fine or shortened like HomCha for Hometown Cha Cha Cha.
I understand, but sometimes is hard. With TSLOMS there isn’t a word or two from the title that can actually work as a reference, you need the whole thing. Sometimes I call the show “Veronica Park”, but like you said, if you haven’t watch it then it doesn’t work.
Maybe something like “WWWSKim?” and “TSLOMSecretary” or “Secretary Kim” and “Secret Secretary”? (even I wouldn’t understand what’s that tho, sounds like the secretary is a secret agent).
Maybe we should just ask for shorter titles LOL ignore me.
I have been trying to be good, listing both show and episode… It’s easier because the first time I post about a show I type (showname, day) into a Notepad file and it keep it there until the show finished or I drop it. Then I type my contents above it and paste into DB. So the length of the title isn’t much of a problem.
It’s the TW adaptation of Itazura na Kiss manga. One of them 😅 :
They Kiss Again (Taiwanese sequel)
Itazura na Kiss (Japanese adaptation)
Playful Kiss (Korean adaptation)
Itazura na Kiss: Love in Tokyo (Japanese adaptation)
Kiss Me (Thai adaptation)
Miss in Kiss (Taiwanese adaptation)
Mischievous Kiss The Movie: High School (Japanese adaptation)
Fall in Love at First Kiss (Taiwanese adaptation)
Yes. Long titles can be a pain to type. some beanies made great suggestions to add a key word to the acronym so they can be identified would be helpful
I’m guilty and also understand because I sometimes can’t figure out the name of a show. Most of us are okay with someone asking what show/actor/actress we’re talking about though.
I am sure I probably messed up when commenting on THE CROWNED CLOWN (TCC) (2019) and used the abbreviation TTC (THE THIRD CHARM) (2018).
I can recommend both dramas.
I’m guilty too and also understand the frustration! I try to only do it when it’s clear from context but I’m sure I fall down on that a lot.
I find it particularly hard with character/performer names.
I think it’s important to use them when they are relative to post/recap. Sometimes, titles are very long! But otherwise if it has nothing to do with the topic, it would be nice to write the full name.
It would be fine if the acronym has already identified earlier or related to the post. But some just use acronyms reference some other title or actors are hard to figure out.

Trying to guess the show’s full name is really one of the most frustrating game. I often just give up.
The only time acronyms should be use is when the title was already stated or it is obvious from the context.

Yes. I don’t mind if it already existed in earlier context because I have reference.

See, we just talked about it and yet, it took me forever to think what TSLOMS is. HAHAHAHAHAHA. Yes for shorter titles.

Omona, I think I’ll start writing the full names. Hahaha.
Funny that I didn’t know about the existence of ISWAK (I don’t watch taiwanese dramas) but I’ve learned the name already thanks to the acronym.

I can relate to this. But I am guilty as well. I mostly use acronyms on the very popular dramas though.

Most beanies are very kind to explain but sometimes the delay and wait to get a response makes you just want to move on from that post.

Hahaha true – sometimes I spend ages trying to work them out. But I think I use them for posting about current shows so… guilty, a bit.
