Premiere Watch: Mr. Plankton

Time slot: Friday (single drop)
Broadcaster: Netflix
Genre: Drama, rom-com
Episode count: 10

Reasons to watch: The delightful Woo Do-hwan runs away with ex-girlfriend Lee Yumi, and together they go on a road trip to find his biological father. But it’s complicated. Our hero is terminally ill, and our heroine is infertile but pretending to be pregnant and was just stolen away from her wedding to Oh Jung-se. And I suspect, it just gets more wild from there. *Please be good*

TL;DR: Woo Do-hwan and Lee Yumi go on a chaos road trip

What a shenanigans filled premise. I'll check out the first few episodes.

Aww, I wish it wasn't a single drop. /sighs/ I'll try to watch it later after my current live shows. >.<"

This premise is way too sad to be a rom-com. I thought it was a healing drama because Lord knows I need the healing right now. Will watch and hope for a miracle that Woo Do-hwan survives and has a happy ever after with Lee Yoo-mi.

Exactly. The possibility of a bittersweet ending is high with this kind of premise. I'm not that keen on Netflix's brand of romcom either, given their track record. But for the sake of Woo Do-hwan and Lee Yoo-mi, I hope the drama do well and end on a high note.

Whoops!! Somehow I missed the memo of it being a single drop. 😅🤷‍♀️ Waeyo … but then I can check out the ending first, right. 😉 Just like I read books. Way to manage one’s expectations. Better to have one’s heart broken upfront than be blindsided by a drama publicised to be a “light rom-com” like the drama which shall not be named. 😢

Meanwhile, *fingers crossed* for Woo Do-hwan and Lee Yumi. Oh Jung-se is giving me It’s Okay To Not Be Okay vibes. Let the drama be truly healing. Frankly better an open ending on a hopeful note than a sad / tragic ending. The drama seems mostly carpe diem and I’m up for that.

Would you mind dropping the ending in a safe little comment on a post on your fanwall? 😅 I just need the briefest outline of what to expect and if you’re looking anyway… 😁

It sounds like a bittersweet self-discovery / actualisation piece. The production team is solid with the Director and Writer each have some good shows under their belt. The Writer indeed wrote It’s OKay To Not Be Okay (which I didn’t watch).

May check it out.

Binge watched, love it. Be ready to laugh and cry. Never liked the ml (nor did I hate him) but this performance was moving. Imo, their craziness matched but you kinda doubt it in the first few eps. My fav character has to be bong Suki, I've liked that actress since liar game. The clan mother, not really but there was a brief and cute scene with a driver (no ordinary driver). I usually hate endings like this (side eyeing you TOH) but this was weirdly wholesome. You can skip some parts though, I did. Eventually, you get to a point where you're skipping not cuz it's feels unnecessary but that you're just too eager to see what happens next.

I love rom-coms but the 1st episode just put me off because I don't like either the ML or FL.

Ah well.
