I did manage to make it through the first two episodes, and don't know that I'll continue, but it might be worth noting for others who might want to give it a try that the description above (focusing on the kids wanting to find a match and the government official getting in the way) is entirely inaccurate.

The kids want their uncle to get married, but they're making no efforts in the matter. The government official is serving as a matchmaker in order to satisfy the needs of a social-media-crazy mayor. There's a love square that isn't really a love square because of a bunch of misunderstandings...and it seems pretty clear that love and marriage will prevail on all sides in the end.

I am, however, willing to eat my skeptical words about Lee Yi-kyung; slightly tediously satoori aside (although it's his real-life hometown accent, I gather)...he's incredibly charming.

Seon-ha - Re Lee Yi-kyung, is he charming enough to get past the hairstyle? I feel like the style is to promote the "country bumpkin" aspect and don't know if it will keep distracting me.

I think we each all have our own unique Country Bumpkin Characterization Limits™ (CBCL), so I couldn't truly say...but I can offer this:

His hairstyle is constantly referenced and is a not-insignificant plot point.

So, on the one hand, you have to keep hearing about how everyone else feels about his hair...but on the other, it's not like you just have to let it slide. But you certainly aren't allowed to just "get past it." 😂👨‍🦱🤓🧑‍🦱

Oh well, I will give it a go for LYK but my expectations are on the lower end. It's always nice to then be surprised hey.
Thank you Seon-ha :)

Tough... I much preferred him in a more serious role, like in Red Sun, Blue Moon (or was it called Children of Nobody? Can't remember the English title)

But I might wait and see how other Beanies react to it and catch up later :)

I'm in ... for a sweet, angst free drama with a guaranteed HE. We get too few of those IMO. 🙃😃

I had it as CHILDREN OF NOBODY, but his comic acting chops were definitely proven in WELCOME TO WAIKIKI.

I am sooo sold. 40 minutes into episode 1 and it’s giving me what I wanted from brewing love. Already feeling the chemistry and Lee yi kyung I came for is soo worth it. Story is a bit silly but works for me. It’s a perfect replacement for the hole virtuous business and jeongnyong just left.

It was so refreshing to see tropes being varied rather than subverted in the first two episodes:

Our 'country bumpkin' is still a country bumpkin but portrayed as an immensely capable person who simply lacks social skills (and has awful hair).

Our ani-marriage FL was nothing of the sort until she was cheated on (except that apparently, she was not).

Our Chaebol Heiress cannot stand her blind dates because she is not a shallow person who would marry based upon her social class and is actually looking for a better person- someone with a "heart of gold" to quote a now very old song that was new when I was a much younger man. Cue our Country Bumpkin.

And the only part of our love square that really leaves me scratching
my head is our 2ML former fiancé who never tried to explain? It is obvious that he and our 2FL have simply been friends for a long time and she had simply borrowed his shower when our FL came in. In any case after three years, he is back with a goal of getting our FL back. Why take so long? Perhaps a streak of cowardice- which our male lead definitely does not have.

The twins are really cute. I hope that they play a bigger part in this story than they have so far.

I don't know if I can continue beyond the first 2 episodes.

It's Lee Yi-Kyung's hair... (I'm serious).

Nooooo! Don't listen Cheol-hui. Reject the tyranny of straight hair. (Plus, those chemicals are just hazardous.) Get a stylist that understands curls. Follow the Curly Girl method for upkeep. Maybe get bangs. If I squint, from a great distance, I might see Sakaguchi Kentaro.

Dude...if you chose noble idiocy over the woman you are going to marry whose brought all the wedding cards you both invested in, and over some very tiny misunderstanding, you deserve to be single all your life. I can't with ML's hobo hair and SML's eyebrows. SML's hairstyle from the flashback made him look human I can't look at him on screen in his current form with those prominent eyebrows. But the real turnoff was having garbage water dumped all over so this is nothing in comparison.

Gwenchana is the only one who is gwenchana and are his niece and nephew. Once again strong professional woman who doesn't want marriage or child rearing bites the dust. She wanted to indulge in her hobbies with confidence though she is born bad at singing and they made it so easily disposable instead of not putting it in at all. ML and FL's friendship, honesty and teasing flirtation is more on the level of good friends so far. I cannot stand SML's eyebrows and hairstyle his flashback hair looked better on him. SFL is the compulsory chaebol can we please stop with chaebols even Lee Yi Kyung is one and doesn't give that tropey impression. Are the two older members of their group flirting with each or just being the trope of the oldest in the group? The maknae is dumb as usual.

It seems Lee Yi-kyung's characters in Marry YOU and Face Me are both harboring secrets - now which one will be a bigger secret!? 😉 Sigh, seems I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop in both dramas.

Can we get more of the twins and less of the secondary leads please. Also I don't care to watch the FL trying to mend bridges with the ex but I liked that she firmly and politely shut the door on any future relationship. Well done gal.
