Will Lee Yi-kyung be able to Marry YOU

The latest teaser for Channel A’s upcoming comedy Marry YOU features its leading man Lee Yi-kyung (Marry My Husband) as eligible bachelor Bong Chul-hee. As a jack of all trades, he can do anything except one thing which also happens to be his ultimate life goal: getting married.

Known as the “fixer” in his small country town, Chul-hee’s influence reaches every inch of the neighborhood. He can cook, beat up thugs, and even catch flying fish with flair. No task is too small or too difficult for Chul-hee, and thanks to his many talents, all the townspeople love him.

However, even for this seemingly perfect man, marriage proves to be a challenge. Enter Chul-hee’s twin niece and nephew to solve his problem, and the text on screen reads, “Will you marry our uncle?”

The twins decide that it is finally time for them to step in and play cupid for their single uncle — literally shooting him with an arrow and turning him red. They worry that he will not be married even when he turns into a grandpa, and their concern seems warranted since Chul-hee freaks out when a woman holds his hand.

Thus, these little munchkins call the “marriage morale boost team,” also known as civil servant Jung Hana played by Jo Soo-min (Penthouse 2). Unlike Chul-hee, though, Hana is against the idea of marriage, so it will be interesting to see these two opposing forces meet. The teaser ends with the question, “Will our uncle be able to get married?” and Chul-hee’s nephew breaks the fourth wall with a joke, asking his uncle if he is filming a drama. Of course, the answer is this one.

Directed by PD Yoo Yeo-chang with scripts by Lina and Kang Young-hwa, Marry YOU is slated for twelve episodes and premieres sometime in November.

Heck YES I'm excited!!!!!!!!!! Hoping for Lee Yi-kyung in all his chaotic glory. Also, me watching the latest promo with Lee Yi-kyung and his perm with the unexpected turn to action: is this Psychopath Diary 2? 😅 Lol.

It's the perm! From certain angles/screen-caps, they could be twins!

This looks like my kind of silly and what I was expecting from DNA lover before it went all in with the unwanted stalker in a rom com storyline.

Think they'll actually let him keep that hairstyle throughout?

No way))) I recall reading this cute and wholesome manhwa about a white collar girl and a cook guy who had to cohabitate and all that jazz... but once romance progressed, author gave him a sudden makeover from hot, if a little scruffy, grown up man with shoulder length hair and some stubble to a wide-eyed bowl cut idol-like teenager. Needles to say, that's where I packed my things...

Must be the residual rage from that time to make me mess up spelling)))

No need to correct, I prefer the typo. From now on, I will keep saying "needles to say" because I love it so much.
Need to carry a little needle around for effect, and start every statement with "needles to say", then pack out the needle (which I will dress up in a little costume) and carry on the rest in a high-pitched voice (my needle's voice) as if it were truly the words of Lady Needles.

(then I wonder why I don't have friends!)

Glad to inspire you!

Friends are overrated. Embrace your weirdness, start a coven!

Lol, give the guy a chance.

After DARE finished airing I followed Kim Myun-soo back to his 2020 KBS sageuk SECRET ROYAL INSPECTOR (Amazon Prime).
Somehow I had missed it when it aired in 2002 but I really enjoyed it. The bonus was the delightful performance by Lee Yi-kyung as L’s servant. Thise two seem to have a great time making SRI.
If Channel A’s MARRY YOU is licensed by Viki I will be there.

Viki (Thank you, Viki!) over the years has licensed many Channel A dramas with CINDERELLA AT 2 AM a recent example. My availability angst meter is reading: low. I have a good feeling that come Saturday, November 9 MARRY YOU will be available on Viki.

Wonder if the youngsters will provide the uncle with a little sex advice before his first date? They seem preternaturally wise in the ways of love, ala Hayley Mills in the 1961 Disney film The Parent Trap. For those who haven’t seen that classic, Mills plays a “Dear Hyeri” style split personality, each pursued by six boys at summer camp ( Remember this is Disney, so of course, polyamory) She has to scheme to get her Dad out of the clutches of a gold digging conwoman, and convince her Mom to give up the embraces of the handsome butler, so that they will remarry, ending the divorce trauma that caused her disassociative identity. Does she succeed? You’ll get no spoilers from me! It might be better than this kdrama semi-remake, though!

Ok, but didn’t Haley Mills play IDENTICAL TWINS in THE PARENT TRAP?

Yes she did. I think I might have misremembered the plot. (not really, but couldn't resist a little humor at the expense of Shin Hye Sun's role in a currently running kdrama.)

Likely she was because there were twins in 80s - or was it early 90s? - remake as well.

They were twins and they took each other's place. One went to Boston (with mom) and the other one to California (with dad). Or the other way around. It's been ages since I watched this movie.

Wow, I was looking forward to this comedy before but cute matchmaking kids? Can it get any fluffier? This may be exactly what we need right now.

If it's anything like his interactions with the kids on RUN JIN, I'm in.

It was all hilarious bickering and the kids giving the grown-ups as good as they got in verbal sparring LOL!

Nope. I'm SO done with adult Koreans "freaking out when another of opposite sex holds their hand".

Despite the wonky English title and that Medusa like perm on Lee Yi-kyung - I am seated. The matchmaking twins (seemingly wise beyond their years) are the two cherries on the top. So win-win.

No matter what his hair looks like....this guy..his smile....his body micro-movements and his uber ability to morph into different personalities always turns turns ANY drama he does into a one-man show. Wherever he's at...I'm sat.
