News bites: October 13, 2024

  • The first posters have dropped for KBS’s Face Me, pairing cosmetics surgeon Lee Min-ki (Crash) with detective Han Ji-hyun (Spice Up Our Love) to tackle the new medical-mystery. Premiering on November 6, the series also stars Lee Yi-kyung (Marry My Husband) and Jeon Bae-soo (Dear Hyeri), with production led by PD Jo Rok-hwan (Voice 2) and writer Hwang Ye-jin (Secret Mother). • Over on MBC, a smartly suited Yoo Yeon-seok (A Bloody Lucky Day) graces our screens in new stills for When the Phone Rings. But though he’s been enjoying a path of success, the romance-thriller will have him taking a sharp swerve when wife Chae Soo-bin (The Fabulous) is suddenly kidnapped. Airing on weekends starting November, the series has PD Park Sang-woo (The Forbidden Marriage) directing with scripts by Kim Ji-woon. [10 Asia]

  • Shin Mina (No Gain No Love) is reviewing offers for her next drama project and is considering a lead role in a new fantasy sageuk, where she could become the title’s Remarried Empress (roughly translated). Still in the early stages, the story is based on a popular webnovel that also currently has an ongoing webtoon version. [JTBC, Newsen]
  • KBS released their first poster for the 2024 Drama Special segment Finding Handsome (previously Look for Handsome), which follows Oh Seung-hoon (Uncle Samsik), Han Eun-sung (Good Partner), Lee Woo-tae (Queen Woo), and Kim Joon-beom as they strive to relaunch their disbanded idol group. But come November 12, they’ll first need to find their missing member Hong Jong-hyun (What Comes After Love). [MBC]

  • In the meantime, Netflix is preparing for an eerie Halloween, delivering a new poster and video teaser combo for Hellbound’s upcoming second installment. Starring Kim Hyun-joo (The Bequeathed), Kim Sung-chul (No Way Out – The Roulette), and Kim Shin-rok (Sweet Home 3) among others, the fantasy horror will be continuing its story on October 25 later this month. [MBC]
  • The promos continue on Channel A for Marry YOU, where cutie pies Ahn Tae-rin and Seo Woo-jin are hoping to help their bumpkin uncle Lee Yi-kyung (Marry My Husband) get hitched. Showcasing the cast in promos from the first script reading, I expect the wedding bells will soon be ringing when the comedy romance premieres on November 16. [10 Asia]

hmm..i felt that the stills and premise from YYS' new drama with Chae Soo Bin has similar vibe with the one for jdrama My Family (watashi no kazoku) [TBS, 2022] with Ninomiya Kazunari and the lovely Tabe Mikako,
except that on the jdrama it was their kid who got kidnapped,,but the phone ring was the central plot,
anyway, not sure i would have time to watch it in November since that month has been occupied by the upcoming Kim Se Jong"s drama,,but i love YYS as an actor so i hope that ithe drama delivers both on quality and rating.

I eagerly await Lee Yi-kyung’s MARRY YOU. (I loved his performance this year (catch up for me) in SECRET ROYAL INSPECTOR (2020).)
One of LYK’s films recently appeared on Viki’s “Coming Soon” list: WRETCHES (2018). Based on the synopsis about high school bullying it will definitely be a pass. Just the title is enough warning.

The kids are so cute with their scripts! They look too young to be able to read, but I feel Korean kids always look younger to me than they are.

IKR!? That was my exact same though. Are they actually able to read!! 🙃😂 Or are just holding the script for effect. 🤷‍♀️

I don't know about the girl, but the boy is 9 years old. Definitely able to read.

Makes me wonder do they get a different - more child friendly script.

Anything with Lee Min-ki is always worth checking out. Apparently same with Lee Yi-kyung too. Hope the former does more comedy and the latter less, in their future dramas. 😂 For now it seems they will be playing true to their strengths.

Yoo Yeon-seok is a very handsome actor who somehow scares me so much with his evil roles that I cannot seem to see him as a romantic lead. Even though it can be as swoony as they come. 😉 In this drama his character seems to have grayish overtones. 🙄 So wait and watch. 🙈

Fantasy sageuks are a tricky genre. More chances of a miss than a hit. 😱 But I'm willing to be surprised. 😮😅

These English titles have the best of us flummoxed. But apparently Handsome is a name or rather stage name!? So okay then. Let's go find them. After all as uri Yo-na sshi said - if you're Handsome ... 😍🥰😂
