Premiere Watch: Bad Memory Eraser
by missvictrix
Time slot: Friday-Saturday
Broadcaster: MBN
Genre: Rom-com
Episode count: 16
Global Streamer: Viki
Reasons to watch: Are you guys ready? It’s the first of 13 (!) premieres hitting this month. Yes, you read that right. With Bad Memory Eraser, we’ve got Kim Jae-joong playing a washed-up tennis star who decides to erase his bad memories to get his self-esteem back. Also in the mix are psychiatrist Jin Se-yeon (the fabricated first love of our hero), his younger brother Lee Jong-won, and the quickly-rising Yang Hye-ji as little bro’s interpreter. Produced a while back and searching for a home, Bad Memory Eraser is gracing our screens at last. Thank you (??) MBN. May it be a beautiful train wreck.
TL;DR: Grab your bad memory eraser. You might need it.

I have to admit to being surprised as well. But perhaps the staff saw sth promising in the show. Regardless, hoping it will be a nice watch.

JJ (what I call Kim Jae Joong) has the acting chops, so I just don’t get why he’s always choosing dramas with such wacky plots. I will keep waiting for the day wherein he will get a meatier role in a meatier drama. At the same time, warming back up to him is going to take some work and effort. I still haven’t fully forgiven him for having faked contracting Covid, especially doing it at the time when the pandemic was at it’s peak and he thought that faking it would “help to bring awareness”. No, just no 😑

How bad must he have felt when his rational brain came back to him and replayed the incident and opened his eyes to the impact on others who were dealing with the reality of the situation😦

Yea, after getting found out, he deleted his original instagram post that said he’d contracted Covid, then quietly released a simple statement that said he was just trying to raise awareness.
Even if he was trying to raise awareness, I just don’t agree with his method, especially not him choosing to do this in the peak of the situation, wherein everyone was already on pins and needles about everything and the level of stress and devastation of everything related to covid at the time was reaching a literal breaking point (it still breaks my heart that such a developed place like the U.S. and China both had to begin storing bodies in industrial refrigerators because people were passing away faster than the system could handle it all). How he went about the situation just reads crass through and through

I honestly didn't realize how many shows were premiering in August until I saw an actual list of it. I guess this is gonna turn into a competition as to which shows can keep my attention. May the best one win!

If it bombs can it erase our memories of it on its way out?

Why I think we will need this treatment after watching this drama?

ep. 1: what have I gotten myself into? Who gave this woman a medical license? And why do I want to watch the next episode? Many questions.

No kidding. Did she operate on him using an untested procedure without his consent? That's not just an automatic loss of a medical license but it's straight to jail.
Oh well, this is dramaland where anything goes.

What kind of Frankenstein thing is this? Some kind of hospital bingo? The next suicide who comes in automatically lands on the table for a fun procedure he didn't agree to because he accidentally killed the mouse?
I'll stay for the fluffy sweaters I've seen in the trailer. And for the recaps here :)

I like this drama so far. If you close your eyes to the absurd premise and gloss over the fact that an ethics committee actually agreed to this very unethical thing, it's fun.
In the first episode, Lee Gun's despair was palpable and made me feel for him. There is a good amount of pathos sprinkled with comedy.
The complicated family dynamics are interesting.
And we still have the mystery of why he fell off the bridge. I am starting to suspect it wasn't because he jumped voluntarily.
