As part of the 2024 season of O’PENing, tvN presents a sweet and sincere summer romance in Junk Shop Owner Miran, featuring a charismatic proprietor and the regular customer that gets on her nerves. She might not have any patience for his mischief, but when an unexpected incident brings them together on a shared mission, his straightforward advances might just earn her heart.

Im Se-mi (The Whirlwind) fills the shoes of our titular heroine Shin Mi-ran, taking charge of the neighborhood junk shop with a beatific smile and a no-nonsense attitude. Clad in practical wear like the denim jumpsuit she dons in the drama’s poster, Mi-ran’s always prepared to lend customers a hand — except for one particular headache-inducing visitor, who has her brusquely dusting her cap off in irritation.

Every day, she’s pestered by the annoying customer Lee Shi-woo (Perfect Family) as Park Jin-gu, who never fails to show up with a soju bottle in hand. He’s a bit of a bulldozer and a bit of a hurricane, barging into her shop and leaving an unfavorable impression in his wake. Save for his patronage, Mi-ran would really rather have nothing to do with Jin-gu. That is, until someone abandons a puppy at her junk shop.

If the caption on the poster is anything to go by, it’s time for our leads to learn how to love. Embarking on their quest to track down the puppy’s owner, our unlikely pair learn more about what makes the other tick — eventually sparking a connection that draws them closer. Amidst the heart-fluttery moments and canine-rescuing hijinks, our leads’ clumsy yet earnest endeavor will help them learn the courage to love and be loved.

Directed by Yoon So-il with scripts penned by Song Jung-mi, Junk Shop Miran is slated to air on August 19.
