A new series called Family x Melo has been lined up on JTBC, starring Ji Jin-hee (The Road: Tragedy of One) as the ousted head of our story’s household, returning 11 years later to reconcile with his family and win back his love/ex-wife Kim Ji-soo (High Class). Slated to premiere on August 10, the melodrama also stars daughter Sohn Na-eun (Agency) and son Yoon San-ha (Crazy Love), in addition to security guard-but-also-secret-chaebol (of course) Min-ho (The Fabulous). In contrast, KBS’s Perfect Family may be unraveling their close-knit ties as growing suspicion divides Kim Byung-chul (Doctor Cha), Yoon Se-ah (Sweet Home 2), and Park Joo-hyun (The Forbidden Marriage), when the latter becomes a murder suspect. Along with Kim Young-dae (Moon in the Day) and Yoon Sang-hyun (18 Again) among others in the larger cast, the mystery and webtoon adaptation will be launching in August, with Japanese filmmaker Yukisada Isao (The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese) at the helm. Disney+’s upcoming The Tyrant dropped their first poster, setting off the race to find the missing last sample with Cha Seung-won (Our Blues), Kim Sun-ho (Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha), and Kim Kang-woo (Wonderful World) headlining the action sci-fi. Both written and directed by filmmaker Park Hoon-jung (The Childe), the 4-episode drama is a spin-off of Park’s The Witch film series and will be launching on August 14. [Sports Donga]
Speaking of Disney, LG announced alongside a new poster that No Way Out: The Roulette will be available for streaming both on LG’s U+ Mobile TV as well as Disney+. Starring Jo Jin-woong (The Good Bad Mother), Yoo Jae-myung (Uncle Samsik), Kim Mu-yeol (Sweet Home 2), and Yeom Jung-ah (Cleaning Up) among many other talents, the mystery-thriller will be coming to our screens on July 31 later this month.[JTBC]

Bad Memory Eraser came out with a new poster as well, this time showcasing the rom-com’s main foursome: Kim Jae-joong (Manhole), Jin Se-yeon (Born Again), Yang Hye-ji (Wonderful World), and a maneless (sob) Lee Jong-won (Knight Flower). Adding to an already busy month of premieres, MBN’s new weekend series will be beginning on August 2. [Ilgan Sports]
Over on tvN, the promos continue for the rom-com Serendipity’s Embrace, with leads Kim So-hyun (My Lovely Liar) and Chae Jong-hyeop (Castaway Diva, Eye Love You) featured in the latest batch of stills. Also starring Yoon Ji-on (My Lovely Liar) and Dasom (Kokdu: Season of Deity), the webtoon adaptation will be broadcasting on July 22 in the Monday-Tuesday slot. [Sports Donga (1), (2)]

If Ji Jin-hee left me for 11 years and returned looking like that i would take him back, is that shallow and superficial.... yes it is...and im okay with that.

Nice to see more Japanese and Korean talent collaborating both on and off screen, perfect family looks interesting.

Chae Jong-hyeop is on the cusp of superstardom, he just needs to pick better scripts hes got everything else

The X in the title strikes again! Legitimate question: how many chaebols between the ages of 20 and 40 are there in Korea? I understand why they pop up in dramas all the time, but it makes me wonder sometimes. Props to BTIOFL for calling out this phenomenon.

In other news, I will probably watch whatever Jo Jin-woong is in (I even watched the Bad Mother and he is only in like one episode of that sorry show!), that poster is the first interesting thing I’ve seen for Bad Memory Eraser, and I keep getting more and more excited for Serendipity’s Embrace!

1. So basically Spy × Family but with Melo and no spying and no superpowers!? Just hope also no * cough cough* serial killer mom. I absolutely adore Yoon San-ha and isn't he playing Captain Ri in the CLOY musical!? 😊❤

2. Lots of very good actors and *somebody* has a knife out for uri Young-dae ya. Ooof which moony drama did they see in the day!?

5. High time amnesia is put to good use in dramas.

1. Ji Jin-hee? I'm checking it out!
2. I'd like to know what a perfect family looks like. Can they give us some hints? (doubt it)
3.The cast has me waiting to watch this one. Love them all. Everyone shout for Kim Sun-Ho! I am happy to see him again.
4.Love me a mystery thriller so this one is on my list.
5.All I can say is I hope the Bad Memory Eraser helps me forget about The Manhole! Hope its watchable.
6.Must watch cause I love both leads. Hope its good cause they will be.
