A four-way race begins for Disney+’s The Tyrant
by lovepark
The promotions are ramping up for Disney+’s sci-fi thriller The Tyrant. A spin-off of The Witch movie series, original director and writer Park Hoon-jung (The Childe) returns with a four-part drama that explores the other side of this bioweapon war.
The latest teaser opens with Kim Sun-ho (Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha) as Tyrant Program Director Choi. Their research facility has been infiltrated recently, and apparently, not everything was destroyed before these uninvited guests entered. Specifically, a sample from one of their human weapon projects was kept, and now, it’s missing. Thus, the race to retrieve it begins.
Director Choi stands as the one wishing to protect, and he vows to stop them all from taking anything from him. He will not let anyone else have the tyrant, and Director Choi will resort to violence in order to keep what he deems is his.
In opposition to the director is Cha Seung-won (Our Blues) as former agent Im Sang. Underneath his calm demeanor is a figure out to eliminate in cold blood, and just like his foes, Im Sang will eradicate anything in his path without hesitation.
Then there is the one aiming to steal, U.S. agent Paul played by Kim Kang-woo (Wonderful World). He jokingly crows about killing everyone and then taking it for themselves since he believes Korea does not have the skills to handle it.
Lastly, Jo Yoon-soo (The Interest of Love) joins the hunt as Ja-kyung, the chaser. As she swerves her car and hits something — or someone — she turns to the camera and asks if they’re looking for her.
Four individuals, each with their own objective, all after one thing. In a battle where the winner takes all, who will gain control in the end? Dropping all four episodes at once, Disney+’s The Tyrant premieres August 14.

"...dropping all episodes at once"? Yesss! So far, after reading the other teaser and trailer descriptions, THIS checks all my boxes, especially when it comes to the acting talent, the wide differences in motivation between the four intent on finding the 'Tyrant', and the interesting world-building the writer will hopefully create for the sci-fi elements. Wish it wasn't on Disney+ though...i might have to 'go dark' to find it.
