Nam Joo-hyuk, Roh Yoon-seo

  • Although Nam Joo-hyuk (Vigilante) is still months away from his army discharge, he — and Roh Yoon-seo (Black Knight) — are reviewing offers for their next project and may be paired in the new sageuk Dong-goong (romanized title). With PD Choi Jung-kyu (The Devil Judge, Red Moon Blue Sun) attached to direct, the fantasy-action will follow a ghost slayer and court lady as they’re taken deep within the secretive palace walls to tackle the growing infestation of ghosts. • The first poster has dropped for tvN’s upcoming Serendipity’s Embrace, giving us a peek into the heart-fluttering high school days of our leads: Kim So-hyun (My Lovely Liar) and Chae Jong-hyeop (Castaway Diva, Eye Love You). Slated to launch on July 22 in the Monday-Tuesday slot, the rom-com has PD Song Hyun-wook (The Midnight Studio, The King’s Affection) at the helm with scripts by Park Geu-ro. [Sports Donga]

  • LG has certainly been experimenting with their omnibus-style horror Tarot, with an early segment first debuting at Canneseries in addition to a theater-cut release last month. With the full series now set to broadcast on LG’s U+ Mobile TV starting July 15, the latest promos include a new poster and video teaser featuring Jo Yeo-jung (Behind Every Star), Park Ha-sun (The Veil), and Seo Ji-hoon (The Midnight Studio) among others in our ensemble cast. [Newsen]
  • Hwang In-yub (Why Her) will reportedly be making a special guest appearance on the webtoon adaptation Dear X, playing an idol-turned-actor hiding ~secrets~. Aiming to broadcast early next year, the melo-thriller currently has Kim Yoo-jung (My Demon) and Kim Young-dae (Moon in the Day) on the casting table, with production led by PD Lee Eung-bok (Sweet Home, Mr. Sunshine) and writer Choi Ja-won. [Hankyung]

  • SBS’s Good Partner office will soon be open for divorce consultations with Jang Nara (My Happy Ending), Nam Ji-hyun (High Cookie), Kim Joon-han (Anna), and Pyo Ji-hoon (Mouse) showcased in new character posters. Directed by PD Kim Ga-ram (Nevertheless) with real-life lawyer Choi Yoo-na writing, the legal series will be taking over the weekend slot following Connection, premiering on July 22. [SBS]
  • Over on Netflix, we’ve got stills galore to browse through impatiently as we await the third installment of the Sweet Home series. Starring Song Kang (My Demon), Lee Jin-wook (Welcome to Wedding Hell), and Lee Shi-young (Grid) as well as Go Min-shi (Jirisan) and Lee Do-hyun (Death’s Game) among many familiar faces, the action-horror will be returning to our screens on July 19. I think the date for Good Partner must be wrong here? If it's taking over the weekend slot, there's no way it's premiering on a Monday...

I'm so excited to have Serendipity during the week though!

Mind you, I’ve never seen Roh Yoon-seo in anything, and I could be super wrong about it - but from that picture it kinda looks like she could eat Nam Joo-hyuk alive. Given the topic of their show, having a kick-ass heroine by your side could come in handy, but… 😅 Good luck, my man!!!
(Maybe it’s the Fräulein Rottenmeier style? Them facing different directions?!)

Serendipity’s Embrace looks good, but I’m hoping they won’t spend too much time in the high school timeline. 👀

The rest isn’t for me. 🫠☕️

It is a pretty severe picture of her, but I've never seen her in anything where she didn't lean more adorable than intimidating. I hope she is a kick-ass heroine though!

Roh Yoon-seo has been a talent to watch for the last couple of years, notably in Our Blues and Crash Course in Romance playing two very different characters. She excelled in both and is very good in playing strong and determined characters. Very pleased to see her landing a lead role now.

Perhaps she's in character already? Court ladies see more horrors on their regular Tuesday than all ghost slayers combined, so very apt, I think)))

She's known for teen roles so far, but I feel like she definitely could eat him alive if she wanted too.

Excited for Serendipity, Dear X, and mostly for Can This Love be Translated whose script-reading stills dropped on NF today with Kim Seon Ho.

The FL reminds me of Adora Belle Dearheart, the heroing of "Going Postal", described as slim, in a floorlength tight, late-20th-century black dress, chainsmoking cigarets placed in a holder, and definitely not taking any BS.
Adora Belle Dearheart.

Sageuk with ghosts? Not the cast I'd imagine for this kind of plot, but finally something mildly intriguing at least!

NJH is interesting because his acting is just fine, but his roles are always so interesting. RYS has impressed in the things I have seen her in, so I look forward to this.

It is a fresh pairing plus it being a saguek with ghosts. I can imagine it being like Kingdom.

Nam Joo Hyuk always chooses interesting dramas to do. I hope the one he is considering has some comedy woven in because he is pretty good at it. Also - supernatural Sageuk? Sign me up!

A Fantasy Action Sageuk with the fabulous Roh Yoon-seo in it. You can count me in. Hopefully not too many Ministers of the Right and Left to contend with- let us see an emphasis on the ghost hunting please.
