Jang Ki-yong and Chun Woo-hee find each other through time

If the last teaser took us on a detour and acquainted us with our Atypical Family, this week’s two character teasers reroute us back toward our main couple Jang Ki-yong (Now, We Are Breaking Up) and Chun Woo-hee (Delightfully Deceitful) as they heal each other from their respective scars.

The first teaser gives us the perspective of our no-longer-time-travelling hero, Bok Gwi-joo (Jang Ki-yong). While he’s depressed and generally apathetic to life, we see him start to melt as he meets his house’s newcomer Do Da-hae (Chun Woo-hee). His voiceover tells us how much he longs for human connection: “There’s no way you would know how much I wished and prayed for someone, from any time, to reach me.”

It looks like his wish is starting to come true as he tenderly reaches out for Da-hae’s hand and asks, “Can I love someone again? Is that allowed?” But even this step forward comes with a giant leap backward in the form of Gwi-joo’s traumatic past involving a fire and a collapsed building. An accident he’s never been able to shake since.

Thankfully, Da-hae isn’t about to let Gwi-joo drown in his sorrows — literally — as her teaser starts with her running into the ocean Gwi-joo is floating in. She tells him frankly, “I was once saved by someone too, a long time ago.” We then see her terrified in a crowded mall during a fire alarm, and Gwi-joo taking her hand and running outside. “Didn’t you come from the future to grab my hand? I recognized you the first moment we met.”

Looks like the two go way back. Is Da-hae connected to the day of Gwi-joo’s accident? Will the two be able to overcome their pain and be together? Will Jang Ki-yong ever get a glow-up haircut? Tune in next week for the premiere to find out!

Directed by Jo Hyun-taek (Snowdrop) with screenplay written by Joo Hwa-mi (Welcome), The Atypical Family will premiere on May 4 on JTBC.

Thanks for the teaser summary, @jenzy. Because of the top image, which shows them in a parking lot, I misread one line of it "they heal each other from their respective scars" as "they heal each other from their respective cars" and I thought maybe it would be a unique, drive-thru romance. Combine that with the upcoming Crash, and you would have an auto-matic hit!

Lol @haja, am I the only one that had to google what the term ‘a glow-up haircut’ means?

In comments I generally avoid the area of ‘looks’ being so subjective however with the A TYPICAL FAMILY promo pics showing Jang Ki-yong sporting long hair it got me thinking.
I think JKY looks very good in longish hair and to me I was starting to get maybe a Lee Min-ho CITY HUNTER (2011) vibe hair-wise. Now I am not so sure. LMH’s CH ‘do’ probably needed more daily attention than JKY (in his depressed TAF state) is willing to commit.

Can we request Sun Sol for a better timekeeping device with accuracy down to a week (at least). ⌚ Then we could time-travel as per the drama schedule. 🥳🥰

This has been intriguing from the first mention so I am looking forward to checking out the first few episodes to see if it is my kind of drama.

You had me at glow-up haircut.
Also childhood connection / angst ... what's not to love. The mall escape reminds me of Just Between Lovers. So better be good show!!
