Premiere Watch: Hide
by missvictrix
Time slot: Saturday-Sunday
Broadcaster: JTBC (with Coupang Play producing)
Genre: Thriller, suspense, mystery, crime
Episode count: 12
Global streamer: Viki
Reasons to watch: Remember when dramaland was obsessed with multiple personalities, magicians, and that sort of thing? Well right now (as if you couldn’t tell) it’s obsessed with married women getting thrown to the wolves as their lives and marriages fall apart around them, mostly due to Husbands With Secrets. Now, it’s time to add to that oeuvre with Hide. Starring Lee Bo-young (yay!) and Lee Moo-saeng (yay!) as her husband, she goes tumbling down the rabbit hole. Her journey is complicated by both Lee Chung-ah and Lee Min-jae (double yays!), so even if the premise feels all too familiar, the casting is heavenly. Let’s see how it goes.
It’s also worth noting that the drama was produced for streaming service Coupang Play, but then claimed by JTBC to air in their weekend slot. Our PD has also done much lighter fare prior to this, so I’ll be interested to see where that takes us.
TL;DR: Lee Bo-young gets drawn into a mystery surrounding her missing husband

After one lonely episode, I'm vastly preferring this drama to Nothing Uncovered. The two dramas have a lot in common, including the age of the leads, the plot, the vibe, the title...no, not the title, but it could have been thus...
But the "Where did my husband disappear to??" mystery is way more interesting to me than the "Is my husband faithful?" mystery. HINT: No, he's not faithful, and, HINT: It doesn't matter if he was or wasn't anyway.
I'm definitely sticking around here for a few more episodes, if not the whole 12.

Interesting @attiton. JTBC’s HIDE came on my radar (because of Viki availability) when KBS played cute and it didn’t look like NOTHING UNCOVERED would be available on a legal stream for me. Viki got NU the day episode one aired. The first two NU episodes were ok but nothing extra special. One of the things I initially liked about NU was the casting: adults. It looks like the same (with the exception of LMJ) can be said for HIDE.
I am going to watch the first two episodes of HIDE and maybe decide which drama to keep. 12 vs 16 episodes is also a plus.

I liked the first episode. The FL is smart and played by a good actress, and so far, it seems like the plot will be genuinely twisty and clever.

Otthokhaji ... when an article on the drama is more interesting than the episode. Umm ... follow the recaps!?
