Premiere Watch: Marry My Husband

Time slot: Monday-Tuesday
Broadcaster: tvN
Genre: Rom-com, revenge
Episode count: 16

Reasons to watch: Are you ready? Park Min-young’s latest is upon us, and it looks like Marry My Husband is going to lean 110% into its high drama (or had better!). Park Min-young plays our wronged heroine — her husband’s been cheating on her with her bestie, and her whole life blows to hell. But then she gets another chance. Go back in time. Get (p)revenge. Marry a better dude. Have a happy ending.

Now, if this sounds familiar to you, that’s because this premise is dramaland’s flavor of the season. We’ve gotten Jung Yoo-min’s version in Perfect Marriage Revenge, we just met the Jang Nara remix with My Happy Ending, and next up is Park Min-young’s version. What Marry My Husband also has going for it is a fun mash-up cast including: Na In-woo, Lee Ki-kwang, Song Ha-yoon, Lee Yi-kyung, and more. (I myself was disappointed that Lee Yi-kyung didn’t get to be swoony for a change — he can do it — but maybe next time.)

TL;DR: Wronged wife gets life reboot and seeks revenge (Park Min-young version)

Lee Yi Kwang has the ability to be really swoony while being vulnerable. A true missed opportunity. 🙁 Hope he finds his season soon.

I've never read the webtoon, so I don't know if these actors match their characters, but IMO these actors really don't match each other. Like I would never pair Park Min-young with Na In-woo, Lee Yi-kyung, OR Lee Gi-kwang.

The drama will get compared to the riot that was Perfect Marriage Revenge. Another thing I am worried about it's length, it's 16 episodes. Without tight storytelling and interesting characters , the drama could turn tedious. I have not enjoyed PMY's last two dramas. I am not expecting a masterpiece but I am keeping my finger crossed for a good time.

It's only been two episodes so far but it's deviating already from PMR. They are only superficially alike. I absolutely adored PMR. In PMR, we found out how she had been mistreated in the first episode, then the FL went back in time and immediately dealt with the people who had been abusing her. She broke up with her fiance and moved out of her house in short order. There was little dwelling on the past

In MMH, we get to find out more about what her life was like through frequent flashbacks. So far those flasback are pain points that she addresses as they come up. She is slowly changing her past and exacting her revenge bit by bit. The characters are also much more interesting. In PMR, they were a little bit cartoonish, not so in MMH.

We shall see, I am not convinced by this, so maybe it will be a pleasant surprise.

Does anyone know how to watch in the US? It's not on Netflix or Amazon Prime yet, two places I'd read that it might be.

Me too, I am hooked. I loved Perfect Marriage Revenge so this appealed to me. But one is a mix of revenge portion of PMR and do over from Go Back Couple, except that obviously the couple isn't getting back together.

But I was really intrigued by this added plot twist that was revealed at the end. Not spoiling it for those who haven't seen it.

I'll give it a try because of Park Min Young, but time travel/revenge dramas don't appeal on the surface. It will need to be really funny to keep me interested.

If you are looking for laughs, don't bother with this one. It's not even a little bit funny. But I loved the first episode.

I really liked the first part. And I was sad that there weren't more. I was happy with the main character when he was happy. And the male lead is very handsome. I hope they will be together. They fit together.

I am an avid fan of the webtoon and I LOVED the pilot so far. There are minor changes, but for the most part it feels like that they are just recreating the webtoon scene by scene!! I think 16 episodes should be adequate, but there will be a huge challenge in pacing the drama since there are many side characters and side stories which are impacted by the time travel that is so satisfying to watch. Let's hope it gives the original material justice.

I liked it. It got better as it progressed. The Clark Kent guy with glasses is not shy about showing off his super powers in front of PMY .
Is he a time traveler too ? I’ll continue to watch.
Old husband and BFF are rotten.

Oh I like the idea of Boss Kent is a time traveller. Because after watching ep. 2, we know that he knows too much about our female lead.

Cant wait for ep. 3 & 4.

Dr. Cha came to mind as well.

I really like Park Min-young and it is great seeing her get to play characters off her earlier type. I loved Marriage Contract and thought she did great in it. She can act the range when given the chance. The previews suggest she is going to get to do a mix of sunny, downtrodden, and crazy.

I am legitimately shocked, because literally *nothing* about this drama seemed like it would appeal to me, but I flat-out loved the first episode. PMY is giving a very believable, relatable, and nuanced performance despite the outlandish premise; the plot is crazy and yet the writing still manages to portray domestic violence and betrayal with respect and solemnity; and even though I've never found Na In Woo either interesting or natural on-screen, he's totally winning me over with his sincerity and gravitas. The cracktastic potential with this one is high.

Me too. I don't know how I might have felt if I wasn't expecting so very little from this, but I was surprised by the show, Na In-woo and especially by Park Min-young. Her understated performance really anchored the makjang of her present day life, but she did even better as a traumatized survivor who nonetheless summons the courage to make a change. I'm glad PMY has broken out of the type she's been playing for too long.

I know I've jinxed it. LOL. But here's hoping.

This show actually was never really under my watching radar but after @indyfan posted the Clark Kent moment pics in Beanies section (which is both funny and intriguing), I thought that I should give it a try.

After completed the 1st episode, all I can say is that, I can never see Na In woo the same again (coz he was never a male lead material before), I hate Lee Yi-yung and that cheating best friend, and for a long time I finally like Park Min young again.

After watching the 1st episode, it is too early to praise it but I hope this show don't disappoint me coz I'm starting to like Clark Kent, er I mean, the boss, for mysteriously keeps appearing whenever our damsel is in distress (except for the time when the boyfriend assaults her after their dinner outside) .

idk why I was worried, this was amazing?? such a fun and goofy pair of episodes, I really enjoyed myself. It's nice that they're not taking the source material so seriously.

As with many of you, I had no interest or intention of starting this series. But your comments inspired me to give it a try. Episode 2 is such a hoot! I really hope they can sustain this whacky tone. I'm loving it. PMY is back in form (yay!), and I can't stop laughing about ya'll calling NIW Clark Kent 🤓
