Meet the star-crossed lovers from Moon in the Day

ENA’s upcoming webtoon adaptation Moon in the Day has dropped a new teaser, which focuses on its two leads and their ill-fated destiny. Playing Shilla aristocrat turned vengeful spirit Do Ha is Kim Young-dae (The Forbidden Marriage), and the cause of his heartbreak is Daegaya nobility Han Ri-ta played by Pyo Ye-jin (Taxi Driver 2).
The latest teaser opens atop a building in the modern era, but whereas our leading lady wears present-day attire, our hero is dressed in traditional clothes. She addresses him as “my lord,” and the scene switches to the past where the two leads are happily in love. He lies on her lap underneath a tree, but as he grabs her hand, the teaser abruptly cuts to Ri-ta slashing Do Ha’s throat. As he clutches his wound and stares at her with pained eyes, the text on the screen reads: “My lover who killed me.”
Returning to the present, Do Ha stands across from his past love who has become firefighter Kang Young-hwa. The teaser calls Do Ha her jibakryeong (a grudgeful ghost unable to leave a certain place), and learning from his mistake, he draws his sword first. With a determined look, Do Ha vows, “This time, I’ll surely be the one to kill you first.”
Along with the teaser, the show has also released stills of the couple from their past lives. There seems to be a bit of distance between them in the beginning, but from the look of things, Do Ha and Ri-ta may have fallen in love before their bitter end. Why exactly did she kill him, and after waiting 1500 years for his revenge, will he fall for her again?
Directed by PD Pyo Min-soo (The Third Charm, The Producers) with scripts penned by Kim Hye-won, ENA’s Moon in the Day will premiere on November 1, following The Kidnapping Day in the Wednesday-Thursday slot.

This could've been a great heavy melo about love, revenge and importance of forgiveness... but something tells me the show won't be able to pull all those potentially juicy elements off. Probably the casting.
P.S. Are those red robes indicating that they got married in the past? And THEN she offed him? Wow, guess my lately jokes about xianxia tropes slowly creeping their way into kdramas were closer to reality than I thought... Waiting for everyone to start randomly spitting blood for a total immersion)))

The costumes in these stills look just as low-budget and synthetic as the ones in the previous promos - not a promising sign about production values in general. I could probably buy that machine-embroidered trim by the meter at my nearby crappy chain fabric store.
I do like Pyo Ye-jin and I think she can handle the "heavy" (at least in acting, not so sure about the heavy lifting required of a firefighter) but am not nearly as confident about Kim Young-dae. And please no blood-spitting - or at least keep it to standard Korean levels! 😝

Yep, no "historical drama being beautiful" bait with this one.
I actually developed some sentimental fondness over blood spitting trope - now every time I see it in a drama my mind instantly cheers and starts a counter))) Must be Stockholm syndrome lol.

At least its a different twist to the same story. SHE killeth thee instead of the other way around. She is one actress I just haven't grown fond of so its not as compelling from the start but I will try it. I might like it. We shall see.
