Premiere Watch: Han River Police

Time slot: Wednesdays
Broadcaster: Disney+
Genre: Action, comedy, crime
Episode count: 6

Reasons to watch: I don’t know about you, but I am happy to see from the promotional photo above just how seriously all these actors are (not) taking their upcoming drama Han River Police. Leaning into the comedy just with their promotional photo shoot, the drama promises a hilarious and fresh look at crime prevention on the Han River. With an ensemble cast of Kwon Sang-woo, Kim Hee-won, Lee Sang-yi, Bae Da-bin, Shin Hyun-seung, and Sung Dong-il, they alone comprise many reasons to tune in: retribution for Kwon Sang-woo’s painfully underdeveloped role in Curtain Call? Burning need to stare at Lee Sang-yi? Lover of rising rookie Shin Hyun-seung? Girl crush on Bae Da-bin since Do You Like Brahms? Or — my personal reason — deeply in need of a reunion between House on Wheels ajusshis Kim Hee-won and Sung Dong-il.

TL;DR: A wild crew patrol the Han River and attempt to keep crime at bay

I'll remember to turn my head off while watching cause this policemen on duty ain't showing me that they're taking their jobs seriously.

Conversations by the river, sitting on some steps while looking at the river, bike riding along the river, jogging on the path next to the river, etc. The Han River is often featured in many of the kdramas we watch, but what we usually see are things happening around it

This may finally be the drama that shows us action on the actual river!

I hope its not like the Thames in London where the river has been used for centuries as a dumping ground by gangs for anything (or anyone) they want to be rid of.
Mudlarks is the name applied to people who scavenge along the river bank for valuables but often find other gruesome things. Fingers crossed for petty crimes.

yeah, the "water hides secrets" aspect can be scary and you dont really want to find anything. even in movies, whenever someone discovers a body or something in water, it is startling and phobia-inducing.

Oh! This wasn’t even on my radar but after seeing this poster I want to see it. I have Hulu subscription for Moving, might as well make the best use of my subscription.

This was exactly how I felt too! I saw another police drama (even a funny one) and thought that it was likely old new. But this picture made me instantly excited for it! Gotta try it out.

I don’t know what minute this is…like 10 mins in, but my dreams of BAYWATCH HAN RIVER are coming true!!! Lots of excuses for people to take off their shirts and jump in the river ahead :)

OMG. I don’t hold out much hope, but I have laughed twice, and said “WTF is this” three times (not in the good way), but when Shin Hyun-seung appeared shirtless here for no really good reason, I did have to comment :)

And another shock seeing The First Responders 2 on Hulu...they've had the title up for a long time but just got season 2 on there. This week is looking promising...I've been stuck on a very long Chinese drama and need some variety...

Hulu is like the slacker sitting in the back of the classroom sleeping though all classes.
It's doing less than nothing in promoting any new series.
Call it Love launched with 0 fanfare
Revenant unexpectedly dropped after the series ended.
I remember googling where Revenant might stream for weeks with no luck before resorting to less than ideal methods.
Moving launched with 0 fanfare as well
Everyone seems surprised that Han River Police popped up on Hulu as well

‘Hulu is like the slacker sitting in the back of the classroom sleeping though all classes’ 🫘Beansprout🌱 award for perfectly capturing the low expectations K drama fans haven’t ithe ridiculous approaches adopted by some of the platforms.

Just for giggles- I clicked on the “Trending” tab on Hulu. It showcased a total of 99 shows. Not a single Kdrama.
