Lee Sung-kyung, Seo In-gook

Seo In-gook (Cafe Minamdang) and Lee Sung-kyung (Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim 3) are in talks for a new romance called In Your Brilliant Season (roughly translated). With the latter up to play a successful designer, she’ll meet our animator hero during a time of need when he loses his hearing and memory (Louis, is that you?). Production is still in the planning stages with scripts penned by Jo Sung-hee (Thirty But Seventeen). [News1]

In the meantime, Netflix will be taking us to the gritty 1920s in the upcoming Song of the Bandits. Preparing for battle in the… er… wild east, our ragtag crew are assembled in the newest poster, led by Kim Nam-gil (Island) and Yoo Jae-myung (Juvenile Justice). Returning us to modern day, a new cop comedy is in the works with Kim Dong-wook (My Perfect Stranger) considering the lead role, acting alongside Seo Hyun-woo (Celebrity) and Park Ji-hwan (My Lovely Boxer). With the super long title Not Very Strong But Charming Violent Crimes Unit (roughly translated), the series will have an episodic format and is set to begin filming next month. [Star News, (2)]
Shin Mina (Our Blues) is lining up a busy schedule with preparations now underway for Because I Want No Loss and reportedly playing her fake husband is Kim Young-dae (The Forbidden Marriage). The rom-com is expected to broadcast on tvN next year, with scripts by Kim Hye-young (Her Private Life). [10 Asia]

Yoo Seung-ho, Kim Dong-hwi, Yoo Soo-bin, and Lee Joo-young

Over on Wavve, there’s finally been some movement on the crime-thriller Deal, which has now been slated to release this coming October. Starring Yoo Seung-ho (Moonshine), Kim Dong-hwi (Missing: The Other Side 2), Yoo Soo-bin (D.P. 2), and Lee Joo-young (Times), production has filmmaker Lee Jung-gon (Not Out) at the helm with writing by Hong Jong-sung. The promos continue for tvN’s Twinkling Watermelon, with the new stills revealing more of our story’s supporting cast. I am prepared to like Song of the Bandits with KNG. Its like a veey serious version of the wild west antics on Tale 1938.

Also Kim Young Dae as Shin Mina's fake husband with Her Private Life writer. Now that captured my attention. Keeping my eye on this.

1. My love for SIG will never change, but the way I cheered when I heard he was LSK, lol. He hasn't had a good project in awhile, but hers have been solid to almost perfect(Call it love) recently, so I like this pairing.

2. For whatever KNG does it for me in a serious role, but in comedies nothing, so I. Excited for this.

1. I can trust Thirty But Seventeen's writer to pen something memorable.
This should be the Seo In-guk project that catapults him out of the mediocre ones he's done in a row.

3. Kim Dong-wook? I'm game. Seo Hyun-soo, Park Ji-hwan? Game, again.

4. Kim Young-dae? The more news about 4 the more 🤦🏽 I get. At least they could have starred a more competent young actor that won't pale beside Shin Mina. And to think Her Private Life's screenwriter is penning this one... I'm disappointed.
P.S. To be clear, I like Kim Young-dae.

To see a good Seo In Guk drama, you really need to go back to .... 2018 (The Smile has Left Your Eyes), which is very hard to believe ...

@emperors: SIG and Jung Somin were good in TSHLYE. It had mostly sustained tension and their chemistry was incredible. I hope he recovers the lost ground soon.

1. I love this pairing, and will probably watch (if available) no matter what else I hear about it.

2. I always fail to express my excitement for Song of the Bandits in adequate terms because SO. MUCH. EXCITE.

3. A cop drama. Some have been fun, some have been lame, so I’ll need more info before I start looking forward to this.

4. I like Shin Min-a and Kim Young-dae, so this has my attention. I just hope the drama doesn’t pretend that they are actually the same age (like in Crash Course in Romance). I don’t usually mind an age gap as long as no one is trying to lie to me that there isn’t one.

No. 5. Wavve’s THE DEAL. No word (or deal) yet. However, Viki US has licensed a number of recent Wavve dramas including YOU RAISE ME UP (2021), WEAK HERO CLASS 1 (2022) and BAD PROSECUTOR (2022) so perhaps there is hope it will appear on Viki.
