First teaser for ENA’s time-slip Moon in the Day

Oh boy, this looks fun! ENA’s first teaser for fantasy romance Moon in the Day has all the feels, and the character posters of stars Kim Young-dae (The Forbidden Marriage) and Pyo Ye-jin (Taxi Driver 2) are equally lovely, thematically referencing the past-present pull of our drama’s setup.

Reincarnation, love, and fate are our themes of the day. During the Shilla period, our heroine Han Ri-ta (Pyo Ye-jin) was responsible for killing her lover, aristocrat Do Ha (Kim Young-dae). The taglines on the character posters hint at this, with Pyo Ye-jin’s saying, “I love you, my lord” and Kim Young-dae’s saying, “This time, I’ll surely be the one to kill you first.”

In other words, Do Ha’s spirit is unable to move on after her betrayal and he becomes stuck in the mortal world. We meet both characters again in the present day, and it’s Do Ha’s perspective that we get in the teaser. Images of him gazing moodily are intercut with our heroine in both timelines, and Do Ha narrates: “I’m stuck in place, but you are flowing endlessly.”

Indeed, some 1500 years later, Ri-ta is now firefighter Kang Young-hwa, with no memory of her past life/lives. Do Ha’s modern-day counterpart is Han Jun-oh, and after an accident, he’s overtaken by Do Ha’s vengeful spirit — hence the tagline that he’ll be the one to kill her first this time.

Sounds dramatic for sure, but this is also dramaland, so: hijinks. In the present day, Jun-oh happens to be a needy top star, and Young-hwa becomes his reluctant bodyguard. The entire setup is ripe for mayhem and misunderstandings, as much as it is fated love across lifetimes. Dramaland loves this sort of story lately — and lucky me, so do I.

Directed by PD Pyo Min-soo (The Third Charm, The Producers) and adapted from the webtoon by Kim Hye-won, Moon in the Day premieres on October 25 in the Wednesday-Thursday slot.

I'm not watching much k-dramas this year. Is there other k-dramas other than Destined With You with this same theme?

That's a very long time to stay angry, dude. You killed her people and forced them to bow to your king. What did you expect? You betrayed her first.

Yes, for the backstabbing traitorous king of Shilla. Lol

I like this girl. She got her priority straight, unlike the Princess of Nakrang, who sold her country to her lover and then watched her father crawl on his knees to be beheaded by the king of Goguryeo.

I was so excited for the last story about reincarnated lovers and ended up bitterly disappointed, so I'm really happy dramaland is taking another swing at it so soon! Hoping this drama works better for me.

It was long and derivative and redundant, but I still like this show's original title of "Moon that Rises in the Day" better.

Great news! KYD's sageuk speak still sucks! And I want the proper sageuk version of this story of Silla annexing Gaya and all the tragedy and betrayal they can spin out of that, come on! Ach well.

There is so much story to tell about the Gaya confederacy. The birthplace of the traditional musical instrument Gayageum. Haji of Daegaya, who developed it, named it after his homeland.

QSD kind of covered it in the background. The famous Hwarang Kim Yushin was a Gaya royalty, but his mother was a runaway princess from Shilla. Lol
"Dream of the Emperor" covered this timeline, too, but I didn't get to finish it.

It would be interesting if the ML turns out to be a reincarnation of Sadaham. He was Lady Mishil's lover (in Queen Seon Deok) who was supposed to die in battle. That would mean that he was two-timing her with this Gaya girl. Lol
The 3 Kingdoms era has got to be the birthplace of love triangles/squares and tragic love stories.

Dream of the Emperor has an excellent OST, I know that. hahaha.

You don't and I know you know you don't need to tell me twice that 3K (and Gaya) Era has so many good stories to tell... and yet nobody to tell them.

The writers of Arth could have done a trilogy on the 3 Gayas instead of that....

Ooooh, they have him in a fabulous color and gorgeous costume again, just like The Forbidden Marriage. Love it! He can totally pull it off.

A reluctant bodyguard? So still a firefighter but moonlighting as a bodyguard or just easily transitioning to be a reluctant bodyguard? Just because you fight fires doesn’t automatically equip you with the necessary skills to be a bodyguard. Oh, she will probably just know martial arts and that will do it! LOL

Oh wow, I'm feeling the angst already! I guess I don't have enough torture in October... XD

Haven't seen Kim Young Dae in a while. Pyo Ye Jin was impressive and lovely in Our Blooming Youth so I'm excited to see her leading a romance here!
