Premiere Watch: Moving

Time slot: Wednesdays
Broadcaster: Disney+
Genre: Sci-fi, action, mystery, thriller
Episode count: 20

Reasons to watch: This drama looks like it was quite the undertaking — with a popular webtoon as its source, an expansive superhero universe at its core, 20 episodes, and a sprawling (and impressive) cast, I’m overwhelmed just thinking about it! The cast features: Ryu Seung-ryong, Jo In-sung, Han Hyo-joo, Kim Sung-kyun, Cha Tae-hyun, Ryu Seung-beom, Go Yoon-jung, Kim Do-hoon, Lee Jung-ha, Kim Hee-won, Park Hee-soon, and more.

Perhaps because it’s such a big undertaking that will rely on a lot of fan pick-up, Disney+ plans to drop the first seven episodes on the premiere date, and then the rest of the drama will follow in weekly installments. It’s a little bit more experimental than their usual release schedule, and you can kind of see their efforts to get people hooked. Will it work? I sure hope so, because the thought of this cast with superhuman powers hiding, fighting, flying, etc. sounds like a good time to me. (Plus, Han Hyo-joo, right?)

TL;DR: Huge ensemble superhero K-drama with an impressive cast and a well-loved webtoon behind it

Episodes 1-7 are on Hulu (US) now! But I won't have time to watch until tomorrow.

YOU just made me a very happy girl! I don't have to wait for Hulu to catch up and show it! Thank you for this wonderful news!

Thanks for letting me know it was available on Hulu so quickly. Hulu doesn't do a good job of bringing attention to new series I might be interested in watching, and if you search Korean dramas, it doesn't list Moving. Similar to Amazon Prime, they need to work on the "these might be of interest to you" page.

Since Hulu (US) already has me on the hook for like $15 month or whatever because I must ensure that I have access to Call It Love on a server available to me at any place and moment in time, I’m gonna give this a try!

I get what others are saying about having superhero fatigue, but luckily I don’t have it. I’m even sort of hoping that Moving will fill the space that I had hoped Uncanny Counter 2 would fill (which unfortunately it has not for me).

PS: When I was over at Hulu, making sure that I would have access to this drama, I noticed that Disney has also (finally) posted The Golden Spoon there as well. So, for those of us who haven’t seen it yet—if you’re interested, one can try there now.

Folks rightly complain about Disney: the shows, the availability, etc. But honestly, it hosted my two favorite shows of 2023 (Call It Love and Revenant) as well as the pretty good Race. And now this. Unlike others, I wish they hadn't reduced their budget.

Revenant is also available on Hulu, but you won't find it under Korean dramas for some reason. I had to search by name to find it, so thanks for letting me know it was there!

I thought I was the only one paying $15/month just to have continuous access to Call it Love 🤣
I just watched 2 episodes of Moving and it seems brilliant so far. So make it 3 shows worth watching on Hulu (Revenant too)
But yeah, everyone is spot on. Hulu is pretty horrible at showcasing Kdramas.

Going to wait for some Beanie thoughts and maybe a first impressions post (??) to see if I should dive into this or not, but premise defs sounds cool as!!

If my mum saw this comment she'd say 'would you jump off a cliff just because everyone else is?' - yes Mum, if it's Beanies jumping off a cliff then I'd wager there's a very good reason behind it 😂

Very good reasoning! Collectively speaking, beanies are experts (or is that genius') at interpreting dramas watchability!

As I was reading your second sentence, in my mind I was confident it was going to end differently: "Collectively speaking, beanies are experts in people jumping off of cliffs!"

Which, to be fair, is also true for anyone who has watched more than one sageuk ;)

It’s funny, my Mom would always say “Would you watch a tragic sageuk if everyone was doing it?” And I was always able to say “Don’t worry Mom, that will never happen.”

@hacja Your humour is the best 😂

😂 why is this me though when I resolutely tell myself I'm NOT watching a tragic sageuk, but then start watching it because it seems like everyone is

4

that is very true!! we are experts in cliff jumping and the modern equivalent - truck of doom-ing

That totally works! They use the same cliff a lot too. Must be a popular spot to throw them, run them, sword them or any other means by which one makes another insane enough to jump!

Resistance is futile. Dive off the cliff like the rest of us lemmings

“if it's Beanies jumping off a cliff then I'd wager there's a very good reason behind it”

Maybe those beanies watched KTL and thought Junho would come in a helicopter to save them 😆

Ooh, I think I'm going to like this (and I rarely watch anything with superheroes). Tries to tamp down her excitement of a promising start 'cos, you know, 19 more to go.

DB please consider recapping the show.

Oh excellent! I have so much to say after just the first episode. Such a solid (if a little slow) start. I hope I can space out the remaining episodes instead of bingeing.

I really enjoyed the first 7 episodes I was hooked from the start. Although why that number was decided and not the usual 2 per week. Very excited to continue this, but so far I feel like this is going to be one of my favorite shows this year.

My thought is they dropped 7 episodes so that people wouldn't drop the show in masse after the first 2 episodes, which don't make a whole lot of sense until you watch later episodes. Tbh, I would have been one of those people who dropped if I only had the first 2 episodes available.

Yes, your right, the plot is only later in the 7 episodes, first couple are just character introductions and settings.

I would have stayed after the 2nd episode, but it makes sense when you put it that way. I was getting a Stranger Things season 1 vibe, where if I remember correctly the first episodes were slow as well.

Just finished the first 7 episodes, and it was mostly fun once I got to ep 3 or 4. I have a giant quibble with a casting choice (and high praise for the other casting decisions). But, most importantly for me, I have learned that I am a bigger fan of Jo In-sung than I thought.
