Shin Mina, Park Hae-soo

  • A new crime-thriller called Ill-Fated Relationship (roughly translated) is in the works with offers out to Shin Mina (Our Blues) and Park Hae-soo (Narco-Saints). Still in the early stages, the webtoon adaptation is planning to create an omnibus-style series consisting of six stories, with filmmaker Lee Il-hyung (Remember, A Violent Prosecutor) taking the reins as both writer and director. [Osen, Star News]

  • Uhm Jung-hwa (Doctor Cha) is considering a meatier role for her next project as well, and is currently in talks to headline KBS’s new suspense series The Wife. The story was selected from KBS’s 2022 writing contest, and the original writer Jung Ryeo-joo will be penning the scripts for the drama series as well. Production is still in the planning stages. [Hankyung]

  • Speaking of KBS, a new poster has dropped for the upcoming Hyo-shim’s Independent Life, showcasing our bickering main leads: UEE (Ghost Doctor) and Ha Joon (Destined With You). Written by Jo Jung-sun (Mother of Mine) with PD Kim Hyung-il (The King of Tears, Lee Bang-won) at the helm, the weekender will be launching on September 16. [News1]
  • Over on Disney+, more promos have come out for Han River Police and if the new teaser is anything to go by, it’s looking more and more like a perfect popcorn affair. Fingers-crossed! Starring Kwon Sang-woo (Curtain Call), Kim Hee-won (Behind Your Touch), and Lee Sang-yi (Bloodhounds) among others, the action-comedy will be coming to our screens on September 13.[SpoTV News]

  • ENA released a new long teaser for Day of Kidnapping, revealing more about our quasi-kidnapper Yoon Kye-sang (Kiss Sixth Sense) and how he actually came to meet the young Yoo-na (Green Mothers’ Club). Spoiler: It was ~fate~. Also starring Park Sung-hoon (Not Others) and Kim Shin-rok (Shadow Detective 2), the black comedy premieres on September 13. [Newsen]
  • As Netflix is wont to do, we’ve been delivered a hearty batch of stills for Song of the Bandits, featuring our main cast: Kim Nam-gil (Island), Seohyun (Jinxed at First), Yoo Jae-myung (Juvenile Justice), Lee Hyun-wook (Remarriage & Desires), and Lee Ho-jung (Moving). Co-directed by PD Hwang Joon-hyuk (Black Dog) and PD Park Hyun-seok, with scripts by Han Jung-hoon (Bad Guys), the period action releases next month on September 22. [News1]

Nice to see Shin Min-a stretching herself a bit, she may not be taken seriously as a dramatic actress largely due to most of her work is in the "fluff" category but i thought she was great in "Chief of staff" and "Our Blues". She can definitely pull off roles with more weight, if she challenges herself.

She already had melo roles with Beautiful Days, A Love to Kill or The Lucifer at the beginning of her career.

She indeed headlined a lot of movies in her earlier years, including Bittersweet Life which is one of my all time favorite Korean movies.

I doubt you see them dressed as skimpy. tho it would be hilarious if they do a swimsuit demo in the middle of a chase

I wonder if this means Shin Mina won't do that fluff rom com. Hmmm, I wanted her with someone older in the rom com anyway, but I miss her in fluff too.

Ill-Fated Relationship - Yes, a fair trial will be given to this.
The Wife - Have to wait for more details to decide.
Hyo-shim’s Independent Life - YES! I need more Ha-joon in my life (Destined with you is not enough for my quota)
Han River Police - I almost said "Oh, yes!" before noticing it is on the mouse. This means it is a no-no.
Day of Kidnapping - No. I do not know why TBH. (I LOVE Yoon Kye-sang)
Song of the Bandits - I am not sure about this but Kim Nam gil is a draw.

Ill-Fated Relationship
Wait and watch who all will be cast. Am guessing there will be different actors for the six stories. Excited for Shin Mina .. even after all these years ... nomu nomu nomu chuaye.

The Wife
Original award winning writer scripting the series is good news ... we all know how awesome Kang Full has made Moving.

Hyo-shim’s Independent Life
Aja aja Uee ...!! Always awesome but does Ha-joon have it in him to helm a weekender? I'm finding him so dull and flat note in Destined with You. Even duller than what he was in Crazy Love or maybe it was that Kim Jae-wook energy bounced off him which made him bearable in CL. I doubt Jang Shin-yu has any twinkle twinkle energy left to pour out on anyone apart from Lee Hong-jo.

Han River Police
Will wait and watch Beanies' reactions. Don't want to start another crime series alongside The Worst of Evil out on Sep 27. Am more invested in Ji Chang-wook back in action role.

Day of Kidnapping
Black comedies are my secret sauce ... but will do wait and watch for this too.

Song of the Bandits
Has been on my list on Netflix for what seems like forever. I can watch Kim Nam-gil in anything but this really seems interesting... waiting for it.

With Uee as the FL and the great PD who gave us KING OF TEARS: LEE BANGWON I think that the drawbacks of have Ha-joon as ML will be minimized- particularly as the central story of HYO-SHIM'S INDEPENDEDNT LIFE actually revolves around Uee's character and the ML need not be much more than a prop and Ha-joon is well suited for that as he will not distract from the main character which is the FL.

Ha, alright then. As long as his scenes don't feel like a drag.
