  • A new teaser is out for KBS’s My Lovely Boxer as well, kicking off the uphill battle faced by Kim So-hye (How to Buy a Friend) as she returns to the boxing ring with agent Lee Sang-yub (Eve). The sports drama premieres next month on August 21, taking over the Monday-Tuesday slot following Heartbeat. [Newsen]
  • Over on tvN, the promo train is taking off for Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramun, with Jang Dong-gun (Suits), Lee Jun-ki (Again My Life), and Kim Ok-bin (Love to Hate You) featured at the sequel’s first script reading. Slated to broadcast this coming September in the weekend slot, Shin Se-kyung (Run On) was unable to attend the event due to testing positive for Covid-19 at that time. [News1]

Doona coming out on a Friday does that mean a one episode a week drop or two on the one night? It seems to be unusual to have a Friday and Saturday release schedule.

I read there will be only 9 episodes. So one episode by week seems logical.

It’s a Netflix drama, so they’ll be dropping them all on October 20.

I hope they do as I love a good binge watch and I wonder if it’s a web drama with short episodes too.

Lee Jun-ki is the perfect replacement for Song Joong-ki, IMO. Is Kim Ok-bin the replacement for Kim Ji-won?

Kim Ok-bin was in S1 (although I didn’t watch it).

You’re right. Right after commenting I remembered a character in season 1 who seemed to be her. Checked and she was indeed in season 1.
I’ve watched Love To Hate You and never realized she was in Arthdal. I just love it when actors are unrecognizable from another show.

No, Kim Ok-Bin was in the first season. It's Shin Se-Kyung will play Kim Ji-Won's role.

6 - as much as I liked the good things about ARTHDAL's first season (it was an ambitious attempt to do something new for kdrama, ok? execution WAS a hot mess, but that doesn't mean we should ignore its positive sides) and eternally love LJG, I really did not want him to do this project. There's just too much of baggage attached to it and I hate the idea of him being unfairly blamed if sequel fails. Then again, it's been YEARS since he did a historical drama and who else can do that with a proper skill and grace, if not him? At the very least he's gonna look great, esp as Saya))) Is this season a final one? I mean story-wise. Something tells me I should not get my hopes high for 3rd installment...

Lee Jun-ki is the original Flowerboy. Of course, he is going to look great as Saya.

I just want to see the face and hear the voice of the guy in mask. Too bad the show will be on Disney...

I love PD Ahn Pan-seok. I hope Jung Sung-joo is the writer. They’ve been my favorite pd/writer duo.

My 3 favorite kdrama directors (in no particular order).
1 Ahn Pan Seok
2 Kim Won Suk
3 Kim Hee Won
Each of them have top-shelf camera skills and can make magic with quality scripts(imo).

Ahn will always be #1 in my book too. I think the authenticity, talent, and enchantment stem from his background as a previous theatre director.

-The End of the World
-Secret Love Affair
-Heard It Through the Grapevine
-A Wife's Credentials
-White Tower
etc

1. Ahn Pan-seok is one of my favourite dramaland screenwriters so I’ll be watching no matter what. It’s good to see Jung Ryeo-won branch out and try different roles. As long as she’s not a lawyer again, I’m good.

2. Another cohabitation romcom, yesssssss! Those things are my catnip and I can never get enough of them. I like the protagonists being college students and idols playing idols so, for once, I’m looking forward to Suzy’s performance. Also, Yang Se-jong is back! It’s been so long!

3. That is one atrociously ugly poster. Disney+ really shouldn’t be surprised that their dramas are failing.

4. I still don’t get why this show has a second season, but maybe they have an actually coherent story to tell? *seriously doubts*

5. Even hearing that Heartbeat will end soon makes me sad, ngl. As for this drama, I’ll check the reviews for the first few episodes before trying it.

6. The fan wall and comments are gonna be so much fun. I’m excited just for that.

Agreed with Moving poster.
I was exciting to watch that show, indeed it was a hideous promo poster 🤦🏻‍♀️.
Looks like cut-and-paste work!

“5. Even hearing that Heartbeat will end soon makes me sad, ngl.”

As much as I enjoyed reading about these upcoming dramas, that was my major emotional takeaway as well. I can only sincerely hope Heartbeat stays the course so I’ll really miss it when it ends.

Jung Ryeo-won has become one of my favorite actresses over the years, much to my own surprise. I love her charisma, her intensity, and ability to express emotions, which is something not even some A-list actresses are adept at. I think actresses really need to possess charisma above all else and emotional intensity. They need to be able to convince you that they are the character, not an actress playing a part and just going through the motions. A lot of actresses even more famous than her just go through the motions of acting.

Despite rightful criticisms of the show on the part of my fellow Beanies, I still find myself wanting to watch the second season of Arthdal, lol. Maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised, lol.

Biggest criticism was for the lack of conclusion to the story, so the fact that we're getting the sequel at all is already a step in the right direction, I suppose))))
