Kim Tae-ri is demon-possessed in Revenant teaser
by Jenzy
Anyone up for a scary summer flick? The first full teaser for SBS’s occult drama Revenant starring Kim Tae-ri (Twenty-Five Twenty-One) and Oh Jung-se (Little Women) has dropped and it sets the stage for the thrilling dynamics between our demon-possessed lead and a literature professor who sees the demon within her.
Kim Tae-ri’s character Gu San-young is a busybody who works a part-time job while studying to become a civil servant. However, one day when she receives some trinkets from her late father, she becomes possessed by a demon from another world. As she starts to see her control slip and unexplainable murders unfold around her, she (most understandably) begins to freak out.
The only person that believes that she isn’t actually going insane is Oh Jung-se’s character Yeom Hae-sang. He’s a literature professor with a focus in folklore, and he’s had the ability to see demons his whole life. When he runs into San-young, he not only sees the demon inside her, but also recognizes it as the same one that killed his mom as a child. Together, they’ll try to stop the string of murders that follow San-young and save humanity from full on demonic control.
Also in the main cast we have Hong Kyung (Weak Hero Class 1) playing Lee Hong-sae, a violent crimes officer who’s tasked with investigating the mysterious murders.
The teaser opens on San-young and Hae-sang looking at things off camera with looks of foreboding, and San-young picking up what looks like a Joseon-era headpiece. We then see disconnected shots of San-young looking confused, frantically running into a police station, and even getting yanked along a hallway by an invisible force. It looks like it will be a fight for control between her and whatever wants to take over her body. In the voiceover, San-young narrates, “There’s a door that leads to another world. And when you open that door, you run into demons.”
With big names behind the production like writer Kim Eun-hee (Kingdom, Signal) and director Lee Jung-rim (V.I.P), we’re guaranteed to get a thrilling story with lots of skin crawling twists.
Revenant will premiere in SBS’s Friday-Saturday slot on June 23.

Possessed by a demon that is trying to get people to work for free! That would be a scary demon!

Too soon!
It must be tough being a celebrity in Korea these days. Every action, every word, no matter how innocent the intent, is scrutinized. The stress level must be insane.
Hey Kim Tae Ri - fighting!

It was too soon. But this was something that was avoidable unlike many other instances. And, just imagine if they had to work in factories and do other awful jobs. At least, (some of them) get paid well and hopefully, love performing so this is the bargain they’ve made to be part of these stressful jobs.

Oohh this one is a rare genre for a K-drama. My question is, how will they manage to keep this scary for 12 (or 16?) episodes?
Also, not sure if supernatural horror is Kim Eun-Hee's strength. She seemed to suited more to a mystery/serial killer type of plot, that one genre which she helped to popularize.
That being said, her bestie Kim Eun-Seok did manage to score a hit comeback earlier this year so hopefully she can do the same.

I'm shocked SBS didn't wait until ghost month - aka August - to air this one, seems like an advertising misstep))) Anyway it looks fine, ctors certainly can pull it off and writer does have a knack for the genre. Ending will probably suck tho^^ But 15+ rating, seriously? Come on, it's a pure demonic horror, make it as scary as you can!

K-dramas do enjoy recycling American movie titles just to mess with the Google algorithm while trying to do a search. Remember Gong Yoo starring in the TV series 'Big', like the Tom Hanks movie?

oh lawd, that drama scared me to tears. but the story was well-written and the actors were really good, so I don't regret watching it. I don't know if I'll have the courage to watch something like that again for a while!
